Abstract

This study aims to analyse the implementation of communication psychology in fostering time discipline among mahasantri at Ma’had al-Jami’ah UIN Raden Intan Lampung. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. The research informants consisted of five Ma’had administrators and eight mahasantri selected purposively. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, encompassing data reduction, data display, thematic coding, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that empathetic, dialogical, and interpersonal communication approaches are more effective in cultivating disciplinary awareness than authoritarian approaches. Furthermore, the study identifies a disciplinary development model based on a balanced combination of psychological and structural approaches, implemented through empathy, mentoring, regulations, and sanctions. These findings reinforce the discourse of communication psychology in character development within higher education Ma’had environments.

Abstract

The issue of education financing in Indonesia, particularly in Islamic educational institutions, remains a challenge even though the national education budget has reached 20%. High operational costs, uneven budget distribution, and limited resources are obstacles to improving the quality of education and empowering the Islamic community. In this case, productive waqf presents itself as a sharia economic instrument that has the potential to support sustainable education financing and community development. This study aims to analyze the management strategy of productive waqf in empowering the Islamic community at the Lampung Al-Qur'an Center (LAC) and review it from the perspective of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh muamalah) and waqf management. The study used a field method with a descriptive qualitative approach through interviews, observation, and documentation. The theories used are George R. Terry's management theory and Jim Ife's community empowerment theory. The results show that the productive waqf management strategy at LAC is carried out through waqf fund collection, management of Al-Qur'an education, socio-religious development, and community empowerment programs based on Islamic education. This management contributes to improving the quality of education, strengthening Islamic values, and social and economic empowerment of the community. From a muamalah jurisprudence perspective, the practice of productive waqf in LAC has a strong sharia basis because it is oriented towards the welfare of the community and the sustainability of the waqf's benefits. Thus, productive waqf in LAC can be an alternative for financing Islamic education and sustainable community empowerment.

Abstract

Soil colloids play a critical role in controlling chemical behavior, particularly in tropical sub-optimal drylands dominated by variable-charge soils. However, information on the comparative effects of organic and inorganic amendments on soil charge characteristics across different soil orders remains limited. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of compost, biochar, CaCO3, and Superphosphate fertilizer (SP-36) on the charge characteristics of tropical dryland soils. Nine amendment combinations were applied to topsoil (0–20 cm) from Andisols (Saree), Inceptisols (Cucum), and Ultisols (Jantho), followed by incubation for 60 days at 25–27 °C under field capacity conditions. Soil charge parameters were analyzed before and after incubation. Results showed that amendment type and rate significantly affected soil charge characteristics, with responses varying among soil orders. Organic amendments (15–30 t ha-1) and SP-36 (2–4 t ha-1) decreased pH€  and significantly increased cation exchange capacity (CEC) and net negative charge, indicating improved soil reactivity. In contrast, CaCO3  increased pHo  and reduced negative charge. These findings support the strategic use of organic amendments to enhance soil fertility and sustainability.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the scientific understanding and spiritual awareness of children at Al-Ihsan Orphanage, Banjarmasin, by integrating the concept of photosynthesis with contemplation (tadabbur) of the Koranic cosmic verses (Ayat Kauniyah). The program was designed to foster participants' appreciation of the harmony between scientific knowledge and Islamic teachings while promoting environmental awareness. The methods employed included interactive lectures, Koranic verse exploration, group discussions, demonstrations of the photosynthesis process, hands-on tree planting activities, and pretest and post-test evaluations. The program involved 15 orphanage children who actively participated in all learning activities. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in participants' understanding of the relationship between photosynthesis and the Koranic verses, as indicated by an increase in the average score from 54.67 on the pretest to 65.33 on the post-test. In addition, participants showed greater enthusiasm for learning science through an Islamic perspective and developed stronger environmental responsibility by recognizing plants as signs of Allah's greatness and essential components of life. Overall, the program successfully integrated scientific concepts with Koranic values, creating meaningful learning experiences that strengthened scientific literacy, religious understanding, and environmental stewardship among the participants.
