Abstract

Physical fitness plays a crucial role in enhancing students' focus and improving their learning outcomes. his study explores the relationship between physical fitness and academic achievement, with a particular focus on how regular exercise improves students' concentration. As educational demands increase, there is a growing need to identify factors beyond the classroom that support cognitive development and academic performance. Research has shown that physical activity positively influences brain function by enhancing blood flow, stimulating neurochemical release, and supporting neurogenesis—factors that contribute to improved focus, memory, and mental alertness. Numerous studies have shown that regular exercise can improve cognitive skills, including attention and memory, which in turn helps enhance academic achievement. This article reviews the relationship between physical fitness and learning outcomes, emphasizing how exercise can improve concentration. The approach used is a literature review, analyzing various existing studies. Findings indicate that good physical fitness can increase blood flow to the brain, increase the production of chemicals that transmit signals in the brain, and improve brain structure through the brain's ability to adapt. The study also highlights the importance of integrating structured physical activity into the school curriculum to promote both physical and academic development. By understanding the connection between fitness and learning, stakeholders in education can make informed decisions that support students' overall well-being and academic success. In conclusion, regular exercise can improve thinking skills and support students' academic achievement

Abstract

Reading corners are a way to bring books closer to students. The 6th Army Teaching Campus in collaboration with the students of SMKS Nusantara Banyuwangi created the Pojok Read program as a means to increase the reading interest of pupils. Research methods that use qualitative descriptive methods which use data collection methods such as observations, interviews and documentation. The results of the research showed that the Making of a Reading Claw at NUSANTARA BANYUWANGI SMKS contributed positively to the increased interest of students in reading. By providing a pleasant and comfortable space for reading so that it affects student learning achievements. With the presence of Reading Corner, it is possible to implement the School Literacy Movement that can develop student reading skills and absorb information from reading to improve student academic achievement in a variety of subjects.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the biomechanics of jump smash techniques in badminton athletes at PB Polda Sumbar. A descriptive quantitative method with a biomechanical analysis approach was used. The participants were badminton athletes selected purposively based on their active involvement in training sessions. Data were collected through observation and video recordings of jump smash movements. The analysis focused on body posture, joint angles, movement coordination, and landing balance. The results showed that effective jump smash performance was influenced by proper body coordination, optimal knee flexion during take-off, arm swing speed, and body balance during landing. Athletes with better biomechanical movement patterns produced stronger and more accurate smashes. In conclusion, proper biomechanical techniques play an important role in improving jump smash effectiveness and overall badminton athlete performance.

Abstract

The background of this research is that there are still elementary school children in Lembah Melintang District with low levels of physical activity and nutritional status that is not yet normal, which has the potential to affect the development of gross motor skills. Variations in physical activity, nutritional status, and lack of involvement in structured physical activities and active games, coupled with differences in parenting patterns and parental attention, are thought to be related to differences in gross motor skills in children. This study aims to determine the relationship between physical activity and gross motor skills of elementary school children in Lembah Melintang District, to determine the relationship between nutritional status and gross motor skills of elementary school children in Lembah Melintang District, and to determine the relationship between physical activity and nutritional status and gross motor skills of elementary school children in Lembah Melintang District. This study uses a quantitative approach with an associative research type. With a population and sample of 45 students using a total sampling technique. The research variables consist of physical activity, nutritional status, and gross motor skills which are measured using the PAQ-C instrument, anthropometric measurements, and gross motor tests in the form of running and jumping. Data analysis techniques include descriptive analysis, prerequisite tests, and inferential analysis. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between physical activity and gross motor skills (R 0.404) with a contribution of 16.3%, and nutritional status had a relationship with gross motor skills (R 0.334) with a contribution of 11.2%. There was also a relationship between physical activity and nutritional status with gross motor skills (R 0.519) with a contribution of 26.9%, so it was proven that they complement each other in supporting the gross motor development of elementary school children.

Abstract

Among all table tennis strokes, the backspin serve is a critical technical skill because it enables the server to initiate play without direct opposition and create tactical advantages through ball spin. Despite its importance, the biomechanics of upper limb movements during the backspin serve remain less understood than those of topspin strokes. This systematic review aimed to synthesize and critically evaluate the existing evidence on upper limb biomechanics during table tennis serves and strokes, with particular emphasis on the backspin serve. The review followed the PRISMA 2020 guidelines and searched the Scopus database using structured Boolean keywords related to table tennis, biomechanics, upper limb kinematics, and serve actions. Of 479 identified records, 50 studies met the inclusion criteria and were included in the qualitative synthesis. The findings consistently demonstrated that effective spin generation relies on a proximal-to-distal kinetic sequence involving shoulder internal rotation, forearm pronation, and wrist flexion, with wrist motion playing a particularly important role in backspin and short serves. Kinematic patterns also varied according to sex, playing level, and grip style, highlighting the need for individualized technical models. In addition, wearable inertial sensors and statistical mapping emerged as promising alternatives to laboratory-based motion capture systems, although markerless motion analysis requires further validation. However, direct evidence linking upper limb biomechanics to ball spin and serve effectiveness remains limited, particularly for backspin serves. Overall, this review highlights current evidence, identifies important methodological gaps, and provides practical implications for coaching and future research on serve-specific biomechanics, longitudinal designs, and AI-assisted motion analysis in table tennis.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe tourists’ perceptions of facility quality and the attractiveness of surfing activities at Sorake Beach, South Nias Regency. A descriptive quantitative design was applied in June 2026. One hundred domestic and international tourists were selected through accidental sampling, with eligibility limited to visitors who had participated in or were participating in surfing activities. Data were collected using a four-point Likert questionnaire covering facility quality and surfing attraction, supported by observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using means and percentages. The results showed that facility quality achieved a mean score of 1.99 and was categorized as poor. The main weaknesses concerned facility condition and maintenance, toilet cleanliness, safety equipment, tourist information, and emergency health services. In contrast, the attractiveness of surfing activities achieved a mean score of 2.63 and was categorized as good. Exciting surfing experiences, alignment with visitor expectations, wave quality, and the coastal landscape were the most appreciated aspects. The study concludes that Sorake Beach’s strong surfing attraction has not been fully supported by adequate amenities. Improvements in cleanliness, maintenance, multilingual information, safety facilities, and emergency services require collaboration among government, destination managers, tourism businesses, and local communities.

Abstract

This study examined the contribution of leg-muscle explosive power and hand-eye coordination to the jump-shoot performance of male basketball athletes in Padang City. A quantitative correlational design involved 30 athletes aged 16-17 years from Starone, Andromeda, and Atlantis clubs, selected through purposive sampling. Explosive power was measured using a vertical jump test, hand-eye coordination using a wall-toss test, and jump-shoot performance using a medium-range shooting test from five positions. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, the Liliefors normality test, Pearson correlation, t tests, and multiple correlation and the F test at a 0.05 significance level. The results demonstrated a positive and significant relationship between explosive power and jump-shoot performance (r=0.485; t=2.935), and between hand-eye coordination and jump-shoot performance (r=0.426; t=2.492). Simultaneously, both predictors produced a multiple correlation coefficient of R=0.565, F=6.330, and explained 31.92% of the performance variance. These findings indicate that jump-shoot development should integrate lower-limb explosive training with structured visual-motor coordination exercises.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effects of physical fitness, parenting style, and secondhand smoke exposure on Physical Education learning outcomes and to examine the mediating role of secondhand smoke exposure. A quantitative correlational design was employed involving 38 fifth- and sixth-grade students from Kuranji Elementary School Number 32nd, Padang City, selected through total sampling. Data were collected using the Indonesian Student Fitness Test (TKSI), parenting style and secondhand smoke exposure questionnaires, and Physical Education academic records. Data were analyzed using path analysis with IBM SPSS Statistics 27. Physical fitness had a positive and significant effect on Physical Education learning outcomes (β = 0.427; p < 0.001), while parenting style (β = −0.379; p = 0.001) and secondhand smoke exposure (β = −0.344; p = 0.001) also showed significant effects. The model explained 68.2% of the variance in Physical Education learning outcomes. Physical Education learning outcomes are influenced not only by students' physical fitness but also by family environmental factors, particularly parenting practices and reduced exposure to secondhand smoke.
