Abstract

Abstract

Kandungan protein keong emas hampir mencapai 56,77%, sementara ikan memiliki 60 hingga 70% protein.

Abstract

Nannochloropsis sp. is a microalga widely used as natural feed, particularly for rotifers, Artemia, and the larvae of fish and shrimp. During cultivation, this microalga requires essential nutrients such as nitrate and phosphate to support photosynthesis and growth. Aquaculture pond wastewater often contains organic matter that can cause environmental pollution but may also serve as a potential nutrient source for microalgal culture. This study aimed to evaluate the growth performance of Nannochloropsis sp. in different aquaculture wastewater media. The experiment was conducted from September to October 2021 using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments: P0 (control/seawater), P1 (vannamei shrimp pond wastewater), P2 (milkfish pond wastewater), and P3 (grouper pond wastewater), each with three replications. The results showed that P1 produced the highest growth performance, with cell density reaching 2.15 × 10⁶ cells/ml. These findings indicate that shrimp pond wastewater can be utilized as an alternative medium for microalgal cultivation while simultaneously supporting sustainable aquaculture waste management.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness and determine the dosage of soybean extract that can increase the motility of catfish sperm stored at preservation temperature. The research method used is RAL (Completely Randomized Design) with 4 treatments 3 replications where P1 0 ml soybean extract / 1 ml sperm, P2 0.3 ml soybean extract / 1 ml sperm, P3 0.6 ml soybean extract / 1 ml sperm, and P4 0.8 ml soybean extract / 1 ml sperm. The pH of catfish sperm before and after mixing soybean extract is 8. While after cryopreservation, the pH in treatment P1 is 5, treatments P2 and P4 are 6, and in treatment P3 with a value of 7. The volume of sperm used in treatments P1, P2, P3, and P4 before being diluted is 3 ml. The color of catfish sperm in P1 is milky white, while in P2, P3, P4 the color of the sperm is cream and smells fishy. Meanwhile, the viscosity level in P1 was thick, P2 was thin, and P3 and P4 were liquid. The results of observations of catfish sperm motility obtained the best value in treatment P3 (0.6 ml of soybean extract/1 ml of sperm) with a value of 2.6 (good). Meanwhile, the worst motility value was obtained in treatment P1 (without the addition of extract) with a motility value of 0.6, which is considered poor.

Abstract

Currently, spiny lobster fishery in Indonesia ranks third as an export commodity from the crustacean subphylum after shrimp and blue swimming crab – mud crab. Most of the spiny lobster export needs still rely on wild population resulting in fishing pressure. To ensure the sustainability of spiny lobster stocks, information of the Spawning Potential Ratio (SPR) is needed. This study aims to analyze SPR of spiny lobsters of Panulirus femoristriga and P. versicolor species. The research was conducted in May − November 2022 in Donggala Regency waters. SPR analysis uses the Length-Based SPR method. The results showed that the stock status of P. femoristriga and P. versicolor had experienced growth overfishing and recruitment overfishing with estimated SPRs of 17 and 11%, respectively. Fishing regulations are needed to maintain a sustainable spiny lobster fishery through increased participation of stakeholders in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the regulations set by the government. In addition, it is necessary to reduce of efforts 27 − 33% from the current exploitation rate to E50 0.28.

Abstract

The abundance of plankton can describe aquatic life. The Jurung fish is a plankton feeder freshwater fish which has high economic value. This study aimed to identify plankton recognition as an indicator of the presence of Jurung fish (Tor sp.) in the Leuser area of the Lokop River in Aceh and analyze the physico-chemical factors associated with attracting plankton in the Lokop River. This research was conducted from February to March 2021. The research showed that the number of types of plankton found in the Lokop river was 17 types (13 phytoplankton and 4 zooplankton). Diversity index value of 1.538364 – 2.133691 and evennes index of 0.542975 - 0.753099 were classified as mesotropic waters with moderate fertility levels. In general, based on observations of plankton in the Lokop river, Jurung fish could be cultivated from upstream to downstream. However, it is better to be at station 1 (upstream) because there are still a lot of plankton species so that the food needs of the Jurung fish can be fulfilled.

Abstract

The problem in the management of blue swimming crab (BSC) fisheries is a decrease in stock that overlaps with an increase in fishing activities. This study aimed to analyze the ratio of spawning potential (SPR), reproductive potential, and reproductive productivity of BSCs taken from the Spermonde Islands. Spawning potential was analyzed using SPR, while reproductive potential analysis used the relative proportion of data between female, berried female and the average fecundity of each class size. The results showed that the BSC in Spermonde were growth overfishing and recruitment overfishing. The SPR of the BSC was estimated to be 7%, below the biological reference point. The highest reproductive potential index of berried females occurred in the group with a carapace width of 111-120 mm which contributed 36.84% of the total egg production. The value of reproductive productivity was 1.35 indicating a productive population. Current legislation allows the capture of BSCs with carapace sizes larger than 100 mm. Based on the data of this study, this size limit has the potential to eliminate 65.92% of the total egg production in the Spermonde Islands. To ensure the sustainability of BSCs in the Spermonde Islands, it is necessary to limit size by capturing BSCs >120 mm to protect the berried female and increase total egg production.
