Abstract

This research discusses the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the development of Nagari-Owned Enterprises (BUMNag) in Mungka District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency, as an integrated effort for economic, social, environmental, legal, and governance development at the nagari level (local wisdom for villages in West Sumatra). In this context, BUMNag acts as a new means and approach in utilizing the potential of Nagari Mungka to improve the welfare of its people. This is done by considering the opportunities and needs of the Nagari to 'accommodate', support, and consolidate economic businesses within the Nagari area, so that it becomes a new source of income for the Nagari government in improving the local economy. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach by considering literature or reference studies. The results showed that the establishment of BUMNag has not fully implemented the eighteen goals of the SDGs program in Nagari Mungka because it is not strengthened by locally based policies, namely village regulations. It can be concluded that the existence of BUMNag is currently not maximally utilized, and there is still a lack of a comprehensive work program.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to develop a performance measurement model for Islamic banks using the Maslahah Performa (MaP) approach. The performance measurement model encompasses six MaP maslahah orientations, namely worship, internal processes, talent, learning, customers, and wealth, with each maslahah orientation comprising specific measures, formulas, and targets. The development of performance measures is informed by a comprehensive array of sources, including the Qur'an and Hadith, financial statements, sustainability reports, Islamic bank governance, and regulations established by the OJK and Bank Indonesia. The research design entailed an exploratory study, wherein secondary data was obtained from financial reports, sustainability reports, Islamic bank governance reports, OJK and Bank Indonesia regulations, and other sources. Data samples were obtained from the annual reports of Bank Syariah Indonesia and Bank Muamalat. The selection of these two banks was made with the consideration that they can represent the classification of the Bank Group Based on Tier 1 Capital (KBMI). The findings from the data analysis were then used to develop a more comprehensive understanding of the application of maqashid sharia in measuring the performance of Islamic banks. The implications of this study for Islamic banking practitioners are that the application of the MaP model can help make more maqashid sharia-based decisions, ensuring a balance between profitability and social sustainability. Moreover, the findings of this study can serve as a foundation for regulators to formulate policies and regulations that more effectively support the integration of maqashid sharia principles in the performance assessment of Islamic banks.

Abstract

Customer welfare is the primary goal of Islamic social finance, making its improvement a key concern. This study examines the impact of infaq fund distribution through the Qardh contract by Bank Infaq Masjid Raya Bintaro Jaya on customer welfare. The main variables include infaq fund distribution, tabarru’ funds as ta’awun funds to address payment defaults and risk mitigation strategies. The research employs a quantitative method using SEM-PLS analysis, complemented by interviews with the bank’s management. The findings indicate that although the contribution of infaq fund distribution to societal welfare is structurally low, effective management of tabarru’ funds and risk mitigation strategies can enhance the well-being of beneficiaries. Therefore, it is recommended that Bank Infaq enhance Sharia financial literacy among its customers to maximize the positive impact of the Qardh financing program.

Abstract

The Muslim population of Indonesia in 2010 reached 207 million, while the number of poor people reached 27,76 million. On the other hand, Indonesia is prone to natural disaster. By 2015 there are 16,830 villages hit by floods, 3,827 villages experiencing earthquakes, and 7,861 villages experiencing landslides. It is important for Indonesian people to pool fundraising to help each other (ta'awun). One of the schemes is through the microtakaful program. The next issue is the inability of the poor Indonesian to pay a pooling fund. The research is conducted with the aim to analyze the appropriate model of microtakaful in Indonesia using infaq/sadaqah and zakah fund as an alternative payment of subsidy of microtakaful contribution. The research is conducted with several methods, namely the study of in-depth literature on the utilization of infaq/sadaqah and zakah fund. The proposed models of utilization of infaq/sadaqah and zakah fund to subsidy ta’awun fund, validate the model through interviews to experts, practitioners and fund managers, process the data through Analytic Network Process (ANP), and determine the best model in utilizing infaq/sadaqah and zakah fund to subsidy ta’awun fund. Fund management model to become the object of research are microtakaful model and subsidy fund from the government model. The study shows that: Firstly, Ta'awun's fundraising in Indonesia is in line with the shariah objectives of protecting the soul, protecting religion, protecting intellect, protecting wealth, and protecting progeny. Secondly, the microtakaful model implemented in Indonesia is a microtakaful model by institution independently, a microtakaful model with a subsidy from infaq/sadaqahfund, a microtakaful model with a subsidy from zakah funds, ta’awun fund management model with a subsidy from the government and microtakaful model with a subsidy from other institution. Third, an important component in microtakaful is aqad, participant, underwriting process, investment, donor party and facility needs. The proper aqad in ta’awunfundraising is mudharabahmusytarakah. The simple Underwriting process is required. Parties that act as donors are zakah institution and government. Participants as beneficiaries of the contribution are poor and needy.  Keywords : Microtakaful, Ta'awun, Zakah, Infaq, Sodaqah
