Abstract

Buluharjo Village, Magetan Regency is a rural area, the majority of which are horticultural crops. Shallots are one of the commodities in the region. The productivity of shallots for the last three years has decreased due to the reduction in agricultural land caused by the construction of housing projects. The decline in shallot production is caused by the lack of land and the presence of plant pests such as worms, caterpillars, fungi and bacteria. The use of high chemical fertilizers, improper selection of seeds makes the quantity and quality of shallot production not optimal. The purpose of the activity is to provide training on red onion cultivation with verticulture techniques as a solution for using narrow land. The method used is pre survey, survey, socialization and training. The activity was carried out for 6 months. The result of the activity is an increase in understanding of modern agricultural techniques, namely verticulture in the field of red onion farming. Public understanding of modern agricultural systems, and increasing the productivity of shallots. The community is very enthusiastic and actively involved in applying vertical culture techniques. The community can apply the shallot verticulture technique on narrow land.

Abstract

The massive development of industry creates human using various of metal which available in the nature for being contruction, for example a Iron metal. The iron is a transition metal on periodic table which often used on industry and building construction, however iron is a corrodiable metal. The metal  corrotion must be solved cause create many of loss.  Therefore, the study aimed to examine sembukan leaf extract in various consentration, 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% to seawater and HCl 1M during 7 days of contact moment. The correlation strenght between variable using regression linier method. Based on study that  the higher consentration inhibitor and the corrotion rate decreases. He highest efficiency using seawater is 89,9% and using HCl 1 is 68,9%. The highest correlation between variable is 93,2% using seawater. Th e conclution  is sembukan leaf extract effective  to protect iron corrotion of seawater

Abstract

Porang (Amorphophallus oncophyllus) is a tuber plant originating from Indonesia. This plant is less well known compared to other tuber plants. Porang has various important uses, especially in the food and industrial sectors. Indonesia ranks 5th as the largest supplier of porang in the world. Drying porang is an important stage in the post-harvest processing of porang plants. The drying process must be done carefully so as not to damage the quality of the porang. The right drying method, appropriate drying temperature, and humidity control must be considered to achieve optimal drying results. A tray dryer is a drying device that contains shelves to store the material being dried. Drying with this tool uses hot air gusts that are passed over the material being dried. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of drying temperature variations on the moisture content and drying rate of porang using a laboratory-scale tray dryer. Drying is carried out on stick-shaped porang with a thickness of 1 cm and a total weight of 125 grams. The temperature variations in this drying are 50OC, 60OC, and 70OC, with a drying air speed 1 m/s. The research results show that the higher the drying air temperature in the tray dryer, the lower the moisture content in the porang and the faster the drying rate. When the drying air speed and porang thickness are constant, the optimal porang drying temperature is 70OC.

Abstract

Aspergillus flavus merupakan jamur yang bersifat aerobik karena memiliki kemampuan untuk tetap hidup jika kondisi medianya dipenuhi oksigen. Jamur mikroskopis ini dapat menghasilkan satu zat tertentu bernama aflatoxin. Ini adalah mikotoksin yang memiliki tingkat dampak toksik yang tinggi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak daun dari Centella asiatica (L.) Urban terhadap pertumbuhan Aspergillus flavus. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa ekstrak daun pegagan (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan jamur Aspergillus flavusdengan Konsentrasi Hambat Minimum (KHM) pada konsentrasi 0,8%.

Abstract

Tumbuhan kayu putih (Melaleuca leucadendra Linn.) termasuk dalam keluarga Myrtaceae. Minyak kayu putih biasanya dihasilkan dari penyulingan tradisional (konvensional) yang proses ekstraksinya memerlukan waktu dan energi yang cukup banyak. Bukan hanya itu penyulingan secara konvensional memerlukan pelarut kimia yang cukup banyak dengan harga yang mahal. Sehingga pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengembangan dari metode konvensional yaitu metode microwave hydrodiffusion gravity (MHG) yang tidak membutuhkan pelarut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menetapkan ukuran bahan yang paling optimal pada ekstraksi menggunakan metode MHG. Bahan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah daun kayu putih pada kondisi bahan tanpa pengeringan dan dengan pengeringan. Variabel ukuran daun yang digunakan adalah 1 cm; 1,5 cm; dan 2 cm. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa kondisi operasi yang optimal untuk ekstraksi minyak kayu putih menggunakan metode MHG pada bahan kering dengan ukuran 1 cm menghasilkan yield sebesar 2,96%. Pada bahan tanpa pengeringan dengan bentuk daun cacah menghasilkan yield sebesar 1,79%.

Abstract

Zat aditif makanan hingga kini diketahui banyak macamnya dan beberapa diantaranya memiliki efek berbahaya bagi kesehatan manusia. Boraks dan formalin merupakan contoh zat aditif berbahaya yang peredarannya kini sudah dilarang. Namun, tidak menutup kemungkinan zat tersebut masih digunakan oleh sebagian masyarakat guna untuk mendapatkan keuntungan pribadi. Oleh karena itu, perlu adanya upaya agar masyarakat dapat mencegah paparan zat aditif berbahaya ini pada makanan. Deteksi adanya kandungan boraks dan formalin dapat dilakukan sendiri oleh masyarakat khususnya ibu-ibu rumah tangga dengan metode sederhana berbantuan bahan alami yang terdapat di lingkungan sekitar. Kegiatan ini berupa penyuluhan mengenai bahaya boraks dan formalin yang dimaksudkan untuk menghimbau masyarakat agar tidak mengonsumsi makanan yang mengandung zat tersebut. Kemudian dilakukan pelatihan pembuatan kit pendeteksi kandungan boraks dan formalin dengan bahan-bahan alami seperti kunyit dan getah papaya sehingga dapat dilakukan sendiri oleh masyarakat terutama ibu-ibu rumah tangga. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat oleh Tim Pengabdian Masyarakat Jurusan Teknik Kimia Universitas PGRI Madiun dilakukan dengan metode ceramah dan demonstrasi sehingga mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu-ibu PKK di desa Bareng Kecamatan Babadan Kabupaten Ponorogo mengenai bahaya boraks dan formalin bagi kesehatan. Ibu-ibu PKK mengetahui cara deteksi adanya boraks dan formalin dalam makanan dengan menggunakan alat deteksi sederhana yang telah dibuat.

Abstract

Moringa oleifera with the local name moringa, is widely used for health, as a medicinal plant. However, its potential as a natural estrogenic is not yet known. The study aimed to analyse and identify flavonoid compounds of moringa leaves and to analyse the estrogenic potential of moringa leaves on 17β-estradiol levels of female rats. Research with an experimental approach includes: 1) Metabolite profiling of moringa leaf extract using 95% methanol solvent, with stages including extract dilution, protein precipitation, and extract purification with SPE. Extract purification using solid phase extraction using C18 Sep-Pak; 2) Induction to 4-5 months female Wistar rats, 240 - 280 g, 24 heads, grouped into 3 treatment groups, namely control (P0), administration of 17β-estradiol (P1) and administration of 1.5 ml moringa leaf feeling water (P2), treatment for 25 days. Data collection techniques include LCMS chromatogram data and data on 17β-estradiol levels taken from rat tail veins. Descriptive data analysis techniques include: 1) Chromatogram result data of flavonoid compound groups and 2) Data on 17β-estradiol levels using ELIZA on day 26. The conclusion of the results showed that the flavonoid compounds of moringa leaves were 29 compounds, including isoflavone and coumestan groups. Giving moringa leaf juice can increase 17β-estradiol levels in rats by 524.346 mg/dl.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to improve the quality of jamu gendong products at the home industry of jamu gendong in Karangrejo village, Magetan Regency. The method of service is carried out by training, including procedures for pre-survey activities, surveys, socialization, training, and evaluation. The target of the service activity is the women of the jamu gendong group. The evaluation results showed an increase in participant understanding of 56% about the technique of selecting rhizomes for herbal medicine, an increase in participant understanding of 44% about equipment selection techniques for herbal medicine, an increase in participant understanding of 72% about the hygienic process of making herbal medicine, an increase in participant understanding of 66% about the hygienic packaging process of herbal medicine. The results of monitoring and evaluation showed that 100% of participants were satisfied in participating in the activities, 100% of participants took an active role in participating in the training, 100% of participants were enthusiastic in participating in the activities.

Abstract

This service aims to increase the knowledge of the elderly in Kenongrejo Village regarding balanced nutrition and degenerative diseases. The method of implementing this service was socialization and mentoring. The evaluation instrument for this activity was the help of an evaluation rubric which was then analyzed descriptively. The results of this service showed that the knowledge of the elderly regarding food menu arrangements for the elderly increased by 45%; participants' understanding of various degenerative diseases that occurred in the elderly increased by 30%; awareness of the importance of routine health control for the elderly increased by 42%; participants' motivation in participating in outreach/counseling increased 30%; and implementation of socialization/counseling programs increased 100%. Based on the service activities that had been carried out, socialization and mentoring activities were going well and could provide changes in behavior patterns for the elderly in Kenongrejo Village.
