Abstract

The research about analysis of cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) metal content on sediment inner part of Ambon Bay has been done. Sampling point located at Dermaga Ferry Poka, PLTD Poka, Kate-kate, Waiheru, Lateri III, Passo dan PLTD Galala. The results of analyzed of sediment particle size inside the Ambon Bay showed 3 components were sand, gravel, and sludge, but the sediments was dominated by sludge sand. Analysis of Cd content showed that at 7 stations in Ambon Bay detected Cd metal with the highest concentration at 4th station of Waiheru village was 0,6640 mg/Kg and the lowest concentration at 3th station of Kate-kate village was 0,0980 mg/Kg. Meanwhile, the highest Pb content was 20,075 mg/kg at 4th station and the lowest was 5,755 mg/kg at 2nd station of PLN Poka. The content of elements composition of sediment are SiO2, K2O, P2O5, Fe2, BaO, NiO and Ga2O3 but Cd and Pb metal was not detected.

Abstract

Extraction and characterization of pectin from the oranges peel of kisar (Citrus sp.) have been done. Pectin was obtained from extraction oranges peel crust of kisar with HCl at temperature 90 °C during 4 hours. The content of albido and pectin are 69.17% and 82.82%, respectively. Identification functional group of pectin was using by FTIR spectrophotometer which OH-alcohol (3294.42–3373.50 cm-1), CH3-alifatic (2939.52 cm-1), C=O ester (1741.72–1730.15 cm-1), C=C alkene (1614.42–1643.35 cm-1), and C-O eter (1232.51–1276.88 cm-1). Characterizations of pectin were equivalent weight (2011.6 mg), methoxyl content (1.17%), galacturonic level (41.64%), moisture content (28.46%), ash content (11.92%), and degree of esterification (15.95%).

Abstract

A study has been conducted which aims to synthesize chitosan-citrate using ionic gelation method and its characterization with FTIR, SEM, SAA and PSA, as well as solubility and swelling tests. The results showed that chitosan reacted with sodium citrate produces chitosan-citrate particles. The product of chitosan-citrate has a rough and thickened surface morphology. Surface area of chitosan-citrate obtained is 35.233 m2/g and pore size is 0.027 cc/g, smaller than chitosan. Based on solubility and swelling tests in acidic, alkaline, and neutral media, chitosan-citrate has good resistance and low swelling effect.

Abstract

Microalgae are photosynthetic microorganisms that contain carbohydrates can be converted into glucose through a hydrolysis process so that they can be used as raw materials for bioethanol production. Navicula sp. strain TAD is a type of marine microalgae that is spread in the inner Ambon Bay (TAD) sea waters and is used to manufacture bioethanol. This study aims to determine the content of carbohydrates and bioethanol produced from tropical marine microalgae Ambon bay Navicula sp. strain TAD. The research was conducted through several stages, namely the cultivation of Navicula sp. strain TAD to obtain biomass, determine carbohydrate content in biomass, hydrolyze biomass and manufacture bioethanol through a fermentation process using Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The results showed that Navicula sp. strain TAD cultivation for seven days had the highest cell density of 72.167 × 105 ± 0.946 cells mL-1 with dry biomass of 0.933 ± 0.062 g and productivity of 0.166 ± 0.011 gL-1 hour-1. The sulfuric acid hydrolysis process was analyzed for a sugar content of 146.5695 ± 0.758 mg. A fermentation process follows the results of the hydrolysis to produce bioethanol. The bioethanol content obtained was 6.357%. These indicated that Navicula sp. strain TAD has the potential to produce bioethanol

Abstract

Pada saat kegiatan Pertambangan Emas Tanpa Ijin (PETI) marak terjadi di Gunung Botak, Namlea (Tahun 2011-2016), banyak penduduk Desa Tifu yang mengolah emas menggunakan merkuri di halaman belakang rumah mereka. Secara teori, 30% dari merkuri yang digunakan akan terbuang ke lingkungan. Bekas area tromol telah dijadikan lahan pertanian sehingga sangat berpotensi terjadi biomagnifikasi, yaitu masuknya merkuri manusia melalui bahan makanan. Hasil analisis laboratorium menunjukkan bahwa ekosistem (tanah dan tumbuhan) di Desa Tifu telah terkontaminasi dengan merkuri. Kegiatan Pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan untuk memberikan data valid sekaligus edukasi kepada masyarakat tentang kontaminasi merkuri pada ekosistem bekas area tromol (tanah, tumbuhan dan hewan). Kegiatan ini juga meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat tentang dampak buruk bagi kesehatan.

Abstract

A research has been done to analyze the content of borax and formalin content in several meatball sales places in Ambon City. This study uses two stages of analysis; qualitative analysis to determine the presence or absence of borax and formalin in meatballs and quantitative analysis to determine what levels of borax and formalin in meatballs. The results of the qualitative analysis of borax and formalin in the meatballs of ten samples showed one sample containing borax, which is sample A (Wayame) with borax content of 1.02% (w / w) while all of the samples sample did not contain formalin. Even though it is found in quite low levels, the use of borax as a food additive is not allowed because it is very dangerous for human health.

Abstract

Rumput laut lat dan pisang tongka langit merupakan bahan pangan lokal yang memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan menjadi produk olahan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat kesukaan panelis terhadap selai rumput laut lat dan pisang tongka langit dengan penambahan konsentrasi gula berbeda. Bahan utama yang digunakan dalam pembuatan selai yaitu rumput laut lat, pisang tongka langit dan gula. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode eksperimen. Perlakuan yang dicoba yaitu selai rumput laut lat dan pisang tongka langit dengan penambahan gula dengan konsentrasi berbeda yaitu 200 gr (A1), 250 gr (A2), dan 300 gr (A3). Parameter uji yang dilakukan adalah uji kesukaan panelis terhadap warna, rasa, tekstur, dan aroma selai. Panelis yang melakukan penilaian adalah 15 panelis setengah terlatih menggunakan skala hedonik 9 hingga 1. Data hasil penilaian panelis direkapitulasi menggunakan Microsoft Office Excel (Microsoft Inc. USA) dan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Karakteristik warna, aroma, tekstur dan rasa produk selai yang sangat disukai oleh panelis adalah selai rumput laut lat dan pisang tongka langit dengan perlakuan penambahan gula 300 gr (A3).

Abstract

This study aims to synthesize and characterize chitosan-tripolyphosphate (CTPP) through ionic crosslinking between chitosan and sodium tripolyphosphate. The CTPP powder was characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and surface area analysis (BET), alongside solubility, swelling, and point of zero charge (pHZPC) tests. FTIR spectra showed a peak at 1151.5 cm⁻¹ attributed to P=O stretching, confirming the interaction between chitosan and tripolyphosphate. XRD analysis indicated shifts in diffraction peaks, suggesting a successful crosslinking reaction. SEM images revealed that the resulting particles had a compact and aggregated morphology. BET analysis showed a decrease in surface area compared to pure chitosan, which may be attributed to particle agglomeration upon crosslinking. Solubility tests revealed that while chitosan is soluble in acidic media, the CTPP product is insoluble. The CTPP showed a swelling percentage of 60% in acidic conditions, indicating its potential responsiveness. The pHZPC measurement indicated a value of 6.2, with ΔpH = 0, suggesting moderate surface charge behavior in neutral pH conditions. Overall, the study confirms the successful synthesis of crosslinked CTPP with distinct physicochemical properties suitable for further application development.

Abstract

Provinsi Maluku adalah provinsi kepulauan yang memiliki banyak desa yang secara geografis berada di pinggiran pantai. Negeri Kilang merupakan salah satu desa di Pulau Ambon, Sumber penghasilan rata-rata keluarga warga desa ini adalah nelayan dan petani. Salah satu tanaman yang dihasilkan masyarakat Kilang adalah tanaman kelapa. Sebagai bentuk pengabdian masyarakat yang merupakan bagian dari tugas Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi maka perlu adanya pemberian informasi berupa inovasi untuk memanfaatkan air kelapa menjadi sesuatu produk yang bermanfaat dan turut dapat menjadi sumber perekonomian yang dapat meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat desa dalam bentuk pengabdian masyarakat. Hal ini dapat dilakukan dengan pelatihan yang ditujukan kepada masyarakat Negeri Kilang untuk dapat memanfaatkan air kelapa tersebut menjadi barang yang bernilai ekonomi. Limbah air kelapa yang dihasilkan tersebut dapat dijadikan bahan tambahan makanan sebagai penambah rasa atau bumbu pada makanan yakni kecap.
