Abstract

This study employed a survey design that focused on gather the data about how do the students perceive blended learning during the activities in two reading classes namely, Intensive reading and extensive reading. Challenges in implementing Blended Learning in both classes are identified. In order to collect the data to achieve the objective, the researchers utilized two instruments namely questionnaire and interview. The results of the questionnaire show that students have positive opinion and good perception toward the implementation of Blended Learning Method and it was supported by the data of the interview. During the learning process, students mostly faced troubles regarding their capability to operate particular online learning application. As much as fifty one percent of the students were identified to have limited online operation skill. Lack of gadgetry and limited supporting technological tools in them. About sixty percent of these students experienced this condition. Additionally, instability of internet connection in their respected places put all the students in troublesome situation. All the students agreed that bad internet connection was the most complicated part of conducting online learning process. This current study also addresses some alternatives proposed by both students and lecturers in order to overcome the existing problems and minimize the risk of ineffective online learning, particularly in Intensive and Extensive Reading classes at English Department of PSDKU MBD.

Abstract

This study focused on teaching students’ vocabulary through song as the teaching method. It aimed to find out whether there are any differences on students’ vocabulary achievement after being taught by using appropriate and can be used or not. This study was conducted in a tenth-grade class at SMA Negeri 13 MBD. The data was collected from the result of students‟ test in cycle 1 to cycle 2 and the result of questionnaire. The result of this study showed that song as teaching method was successfully implemented to increase and to enrich students‟ vocabulary that can be seen on students‟ score in students‟ result of cycle 2, 75% students were able to reach the indicator of success with the range scores from 71-100. The result in questionnaire also showed that students had positive responses toward the implementation of song method. Song as the teaching method was effective to motivate and engage students to learn and memorize the vocabulary during the learning process and it was appropriate for assisting students to learn vocabulary from home and also can help students to create their own sentence.

Abstract

This research was aimed at improved reading skill among students at SMP PGRI Klis. This Classroom Action Research was conducted in two cycles where all the data have been collected through test and the questionnaire. Based on the data, it was found that (1) narrative text as a teaching media can help the students to better understand English reading texts. From 19 students, 5 students or 76, 66 of % the students achieved the indicator of success; (2) the use of narrative text or some media in implementing using narrative text as a teaching media to improve students reading comprehension in order to stimulate the students to learn English reading comprehension that can be seen by students’ responses among 19 students, 10 students were interested to learn English reading comprehension through using narrative text and (3) the using narrative text as a teaching media can increase students’ reading comprehension. This result indicated that the using narrative text as a teaching media has successfully applied in increasing students’ reading comprehension.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to improve students speaking abilities of the eleven grade students at SMA NEGERI 13 MBD, which consisted to 24 students. This research used Classroom Action Research. The steps were preliminary study, planning, implementation, evaluation and reflection. The data were collected through pre-test and post-test, teacher observation and the students’ feedback through questionnaire. This study occurred over two cycles and took over of nine meetings. The data showed that the first cycle was not successful because it only achieved 36. 27 % success rate. Therefore, it was then continued to second cycle and there was an increase to 84.1%. Based on the outcomes of the use of vlog it proven to have a significant positive impact on students’ speaking proficiency especially in four main aspects, performance, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. Through vlog the students were able to deliver their effort to make a video in an innovative and imaginative way, giving them the courage to express themselves.

Abstract

This study was aimed at investigating teachers’ strategies in teaching vocabulary at the seventh grade of junior High Schools in Letti Island. The subject of the research was two English teachers at a Junior High school in Letti Island. The research explored the data about the strategies in teaching vocabulary implemented by English teachers at the Seventh grade SMP level in Letti Island.This quantitative research was conducted by using survey method in which the data were collected through interview and questionnaire.The finding in this study showed that the teachers applied several strategies in teaching vocabulary in the classroom, such as listen and do, listen and repeat, question and answer, substitution, listen and identify, concept mapping, spot the difference, and label the picture. The teachers strongly agree that vocabulary strategy can help the students to be more proactive and make them learn English more easily. The teachers also believed that vocabulary strategy could attract students’ interest in learning English vocabulary so they could perform better in front of the class when expressing their ideas and be more creative in learning vocabulary. The teachers also positively perceived the use of teaching vocabulary strategies for promoting foreign language acquisition.

Abstract

Education is an important foundation in shaping individuals to face the complex dynamics of life. However, the focus on academic achievement often ignores the emotional aspect. In this case, emotional intelligence (EQ) emerges as a key factor in preparing the younger generation to face life's challenges. This research explores the importance of emotional intelligence in education, with the aim of preparing an emotionally resilient generation. The research method used is a qualitative type with descriptive and comparative studies. This research collects data from various sources, including literature reviews and relevant documents. Qualitative and comparative analysis was carried out to understand the concept of emotional intelligence and its implementation in education.The research results show that the integration of emotional intelligence in the educational curriculum strengthens students' social skills and helps them cope better with stress. The role of parents and the school environment in supporting students' emotional development is also highlighted. Students with good emotional intelligence tend to achieve better academic results, emphasizing the positive impact of EQ development in education. Thus, this research provides insight into the importance of strengthening emotional aspects in learning. This not only improves academic performance, but also prepares students to face life's challenges with strong confidence and fortitude.
