Abstract

Batik, one of Indonesia’s most important cultural heritages, requires maximum conservation. Meanwhile, Batik Mahkota Laweyan in Solo (Surakarta), Central Java, is the nation’s oldest handcrafted batik producer that specializes not only in hand-made products but also in activities related to education and tourism. This initiative is intended to increase the company’s market visibility. Despite these initiatives, the organization has struggled to fully realize its potential due to its numerous challenges. This research provides insights into the challenges faced by MSMEs, particularly the batik business. It suggests actionable solutions based on a design thinking framework and qualitative methods. The study conducted at Batik Mahkota Laweyan identified and prioritized the challenges, including weak branding in tourism and service knowledge. A brainstorming session generated 36 practical ideas for improvement. The research also highlights the branding opportunities in travel and education services, emphasizing timely implementation within budget constraints. It offers guidance on enhancing branding at Batik Mahkota Laweyan, and the interview questions could serve as a template for future research in similar businesses.

Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have a vital contribution to Indonesian economy. It is characterized by a large number which can accommodate a large number of workers. However, many MSMEs face many internal and external challenges in improvising their business. The purpose of this study is identifying challenges faced by MSMEs in terms of external aspects which include technological turbulence and market turbulence as well as internal aspects which include fear of failure, anxiety, disappointment, distress, and tension; and Qualitative methods with interview techniques are used to explore information from the experience of SMEs as resource persons who have been selected with certain criteria. The research’s findings show that the external barriers arise from limited knowledge and resources while the internal barriers of entrepreneurs arise from the personal lives and demands of business consumers. The research’s contribution is to provide facts for MSMEs to be used as a basis for evaluating business performance so that they can prepare corrective steps in improvising. In addition, the measuring instrument used as an interview protocol can be used as a reference for further study in similar topics.

Abstract

Penanganan dan pengelolaan sampah menjadi tantangan serius, terutama di daerah perkotaan dengan pertumbuhan penduduk yang pesat. SDG Target 11.6 bertujuan untuk mencapai pengelolaan sampah yang berkelanjutan dan mengurangi dampak negatifnya terhadap lingkungan. Dalam konteks ini, program "Upcycling Kriya Chilaz Craft" di Kecamatan Coblong, Kota Bandung, telah diluncurkan sebagai inisiatif berbasis komunitas untuk mencapai tujuan ini. Program ini berfokus pada pemanfaatan limbah anorganik untuk menciptakan produk kriya yang bernilai. Namun, meskipun upaya yang dilakukan, dampak program belum sepenuhnya terwujud secara signifikan. Artikel ini mendiskusikan langkah-langkah yang telah diambil dalam pelaksanaan program, termasuk pelatihan keterampilan kriya dan pengenalan produk upcycling ke masyarakat sasar. Evaluasi awal menunjukkan bahwa beberapa kendala, seperti tantangan dalam pemasaran produk upcycling dan keterbatasan akses sumber daya, telah mempengaruhi potensi dampak yang lebih besar. Artikel ini mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan program. Tantangan dalam mengubah pola pikir masyarakat terhadap limbah menjadi potensi ekonomi kreatif, serta tantangan dalam membangun jejaring kerja sama yang kuat dengan mitra terkait, menjadi fokus utama. Dengan memahami kendala ini, artikel ini berkontribusi dalam merancang rekomendasi strategis yang dapat mengatasi hambatan-hambatan tersebut dan merencanakan langkah-langkah ke depan untuk mencapai dampak yang lebih signifikan dalam mencapai SDG Target 11.6 pengelolaan sampah di Kecamatan Coblong, Kota Bandung.

Abstract

Finpay Link, developed by PT Finnet Indonesia, is a unique URL generated by the Finpay Payment Gateway system to facilitate payment transactions via email, SMS, or messaging apps like WhatsApp. Designed to simplify transactions for MSMEs, it aims to contribute significantly to the company’s revenue through increased business transactions. However, since its launch in 2019, Finpay Link has not met the expected revenue targets, prompting the need for new innovations based on the existing product. Given the high adoption of WhatsApp in Indonesia, with 90.9% of social media users active on the platform, this study explores the design and development of a WhatsApp-based application using the design thinking approach. Aimed at MSMEs, this application is intended to drive business transactions and revenue. This qualitative case study employs observation and in-depth interviews for data collection. The study results include the design of new features like payment processing and transaction history tracking. Prototype testing using the System Usability Score (SUS) yielded an 89.5 score, indicating high usability. Positive feedback from users confirmed the value of the payment and transaction tracking innovations. Despite time limitations, this research provides a foundation for future enhancements and can serve as a reference for applying design thinking in business app development.

Abstract

Mitra Finpay, a digital financial service application developed by PT. Finnet Indonesia, aims to support business management, particularly for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Launched in late 2020 and available on both the Play Store and App Store, the application has garnered a significant user base. However, active users remain minimal, and the app's rating lags behind competitors. Initial user interviews revealed discomfort and usability issues as key concerns. This study aims to identify and address user needs for Mitra Finpay by applying the design thinking methodology. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered from external stakeholders (users) and internal stakeholders (developers and experts). The design thinking process comprised five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. During the empathize stage, interviews and observations were conducted to create user journey maps, empathy maps, and identify pain points. The define stage prioritized these problems and generated frameworks such as jobs-to-be-done, points of view, and "how might we" statements. Solutions were brainstormed during the ideate stage, focusing on user-centric features. The research resulted in a prototype featuring five new functionalities: onboarding, non-QRIS registration, AI-powered registration data verification, a non-QRIS dashboard, and QRIS registration. Usability testing scored the prototype at 86, deemed acceptable, with positive feedback from participants. Suggestions on onboarding, data completion forms, and dashboard design were promptly addressed, indicating a practical pathway for improving user experience and enhancing application adoption.

Abstract

Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) berkembang pesat di Indonesia dengan jumlah 65,46 juta unit pada tahun 2019 di Indonesia. Namun, adanya pandemi COVID-19 mengakibatkan penurunan penjualan pada 94,69% UMKM di Indonesia. Tidak kalah penting, banyaknya UMKM di Indonesia juga membuat para pelaku usaha untuk tetap berinovasi karena adanya persaingan yang tinggi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memvalidasi model bisnis terhadap ide bisnis berupa pengembangan produk baru. Validasi model bisnis dilakukan dengan melakukan pengujian pada blok Kanvas Model Bisnis (BMC) usaha mikro Bosstore.id berupa proposisi nilai, aliran pendapatan, dan saluran. Pendekatan mix method (campuran) dengan metode penelitian studi kasus digunakan pada penelitian ini. Pengumpulan data berupa observasi dan wawancara digunakan pada metode kualitatif ditambah dengan pengumpulan data secara kuantitatif yang digunakan untuk memperkuat data yang diperoleh. Validasi model bisnis dilakukan dari sumber berupa BMC awal yang akan dikembangkan melalui analisis berupa pengujian ide bisnis. Hal tersebut dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi kesesuaian ide bisnis dengan keinginan dan kebutuhan target konsumen. Penelitian ini memberikan penjelasan serta tindak lanjut terhadap pengembangan produk baru usaha mikro Bosstore.id. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa blok proposisi nilai valid, aliran pendapatan valid, dan blok saluran tidak valid. Setelah melakukan validasi dengan beberapa pengujian yang menggunakan berbagai alat uji, penulis memberikan tindak lanjut berupa saran dalam pengembangan produk baru berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh pada penelitian. Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has become a crucial strategy for businesses, including Telkom Property, which operates in the fleet management industry. The company faces challenges related to cost efficiency, time efficiency, and security. This study aims to analyze the requirements for implementing a fleet management system application using the design thinking approach to support the company’s efficiency programs. The design thinking methodology employed consists of five stages: (1) empathize, (2) define, (3) ideate, (4) prototype, and (5) testing. Data were collected through interviews with eight respondents, comprising five external and three internal stakeholders. The 635 method was used to prioritize ideas for prototype development. The prototype, presented as a fleet management application mockup, was tested with respondents to ensure feature alignment with user needs. The study findings reveal that the developed fleet management system application enhances efficiency, security, and user satisfaction. Application evaluation using the System Usability Scale (SUS) yielded a score of 78.4, surpassing the threshold of 71.1. Additionally, 100% of respondents agreed that the application meets their expectations. This research concludes that implementing a fleet management application based on the design thinking approach is effective in supporting Telkom Property's operational efficiency

Abstract

Instagram menjadi salah satu media sosial yang sering digunakan oleh kepala daerah untuk berkomunikasi dengan masyarakat khususnya selama pandemi Covid-19 yang membatasi aktivitas manusia dan memberikan dampak pada banyak sektor, salah satunya sektor UMKM yang memiliki peran sebagai penopang perekonomian negara. Melalui Instagram khususnya, kepala daerah menyampaikan area dukungan pemerintah terhadap UMKM. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pemetaan penggunaan media sosial Instagram oleh Walikota Kediri dengan mendefinisikan area prioritas dukungan pemerintah terhadap UMKM dan memetakan respon masyarakat terhadap dukungan pemerintah yang dikomunikasikan oleh Abu Bakar selaku Walikota Kediri. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran dengan pendekatan text mining dan data yang digunakan adalah data caption dan dataset komentar dari akun Instagram Abu Bakar periode 20 Agustus 2019 – 20 November 2020 sebanyak 17 caption dan 203 komentar. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan 4 dari total 5 area dukungan pemerintah mendapatkan respon positif dengan area dukungan fasilitas yang mendapatkan skala prioritas paling tinggi dan area dukungan modal usaha mendapatkan skala prioritas paling rendah. Abstract

Perkembangan bisnis usaha dan pemasaran yang semakin global menjadikan tingkat persaingan bisnis semakinmeningkat, salah satunya persaingan bisnis pada penyewaan lapangan futsal sehingga para pelaku bisnis usahasebaiknya melakukan inovasi bisnis. Kegiatan bisnis yang terjadi pada Kharisma Futsal memiliki potensi untukdikembangkan dengan merancang dan menciptakan ide bisnis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membangun InovasiModel Bisnis berbasis Business Model Triangle dengan implementasi Design Thinking pada Kharisma Futsal. Metodepenelitian adalah analisa deskriptif kualitatif dengan ditunjang oleh pendekatan Design Thinking. Dari hasil analisaDesign Thinking, informan pengguna menginginkan rancangan bisnis model saat ini, serta bisnis model usulan untukmenghadapi persaingan yang sedang terjadi. Peneliti juga menjabarkan Inovasi Model Bisnis dengan melakukanperbaikan elemen - elemen bisnis model yang peneliti rasa butuh diperbaiki. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwamodel bisnis saat ini memerlukan inovasi, terutama pada aspek nilai yang ditawarkan kepada pelanggan. Model bisnisalternatif yang diusulkan meliputi penerapan fitur reservasi online, program keanggotaan, dan layanan sewaperlengkapan futsal. Pengujian melalui prototipe menunjukkan respon positif dari pengguna, terutama dalampeningkatan aksesibilitas dan loyalitas pelanggan. Abstract

The growing demand for inclusive and accessible mental health services presents a global challenge, including in Indonesia. In response, Ibunda.id developed the WellMe application using the Design Thinking approach to understand user needs, design innovative solutions, and create an effective technology-based prototype. This study follows the five stages of Design Thinking: Empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Customer Journey Mapping and Empathy Maps identified key challenges, including the absence of a mobile application, which limited user convenience: the define stage prioritized push notifications, educational content, and psychologist profiles with user reviews. Using 2x2 brainstorming, the ideation stage led to solutions such as multiplatform development with Flutter, video call integration, and interactive educational modules. Prototyping resulted in a mobile application tailored to user needs. Usability testing with the System Usability Scale (SUS) scored 81.5 ("excellent"), indicating high satisfaction. Desirability analysis highlighted appreciation for push notifications and personalized psychologist profiles. Viability showed strong engagement potential, with 100% of respondents favoring the app over the web platform. Feasibility analysis found 93.2% of developers endorsing Flutter for its efficiency and cost-effectiveness. This study contributes to design thinking literature on mental health applications. It provides a framework for user-centered technological innovations, supporting Ibunda.id in enhancing service accessibility and quality in Indonesia.
