Abstract

Utilization of information and communication technology (ICT) in open and distance education is very important. Universitas Terbuka (UT-The Indonesia Open University) gradually began developing and using ICT applications for a variety of purposes, both academic and administrative. In the academic services, UT provides learning materials specifically designed for independent learning. The students can using learning materials provided by UT through the internet such as online tutorial (tuton), web supplement, internet television (I-TV), and online exercise independent (LM-Online). The objectives of the research were: (i) to describe students attitude for using information and communication technology in open and distance learning, and (ii) to describe the relationship between the students characteristics with their attitude for using information and communication technology in open and distance learning. This research was conducted with the survey methods and observations in the Regional Office (UPBJJ-UT) in Serang dan Bengkulu. The 52 students samples were randomly selected as respondents. The data were analyzed through Spearman rank correlation test. The result showed students attitude for using information and communication technology in open and distance learning is pretty good. The result showed educational students background were significantly correlated with their attitude for using web supplement and I-TV. A student region of residence were significantly correlated with their attitude for using I-TV. There was also a significant correlation between the availability of internet facilities and computer ownership with their attitudes for using tuton, web supplement and I-TV. Pemanfaatan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi ( TIK ) dalam pendidikan terbuka dan jarak jauh sangat penting. Universitas Terbuka (UT) secara bertahap mulai mengembangkan dan menggunakan aplikasi ICT untuk berbagai keperluan, baik akademik dan administratif. Dalam pelayanan akademik, UT menyediakan bahan ajar yang dirancang khusus untuk belajar mandiri. Para mahasiswa dapat menggunakan bahan pembelajaran yang diberikan oleh UT melalui internet seperti tutorial secara online (Tuton), suplemen web , televisi internet (I- TV), dan latihan mandiri online (LM - Online). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) untuk menggambarkan sikap mahasiswa untuk menggunakan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi dalam pembelajaran terbuka dan jarak jauh, dan (2) untuk menggambarkan hubungan antara karakteristik mahasiswa dengan sikap mereka dalam menggunakan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi pada media pembelajaran terbuka dan jarak jauh. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode survei dan pengamatan di Kantor Wilayah (UPBJJ-UT) di Serang dan Bengkulu. Sampel sebanyak 52 mahasiswa dipilih secara acak sebagai responden. Data dianalisis melalui uji korelasi Rank Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sikap mahasiswa menggunakan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi dalam pembelajaran terbuka dan jarak cukup bagus. Selanjutnya hasil penelitian menunjukkan latar belakang pendidikan mahasiswa secara signifikan berkorelasi dengan sikap mereka untuk menggunakan suplemen web dan I-TV. Tempat tinggal mahasiswa secara signifikan berkorelasi dengan sikap mereka untuk menggunakan I- TV. Ada juga hubungan yang signifikan antara ketersediaan fasilitas internet dan kepemilikan komputer dengan sikap mereka untuk menggunakan Tuton , suplemen web dan I- TV .

Abstract

UT printed learning materials is the main learning materials designed to be used independently by students as a substitute lecturer. This article was prepared with the aim to analyze the quality and readability printed learning materials for purposes such revision in order to achieve the goal of effective learning. The research underlying the writing of this article uses evaluative formative design research with qualitative approach. The object of research is the printed learning materials courses Administration of Agricultural Extension, Module 2 and Module 4. Data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and deployment evaluation form to the expert science, expert instructional design, and students. The results showed that most of the the quality of printed learning materials on Module 2 and Module 4 less valid and less advanced when compared with current scientific developments. Therefore, fundamental changes are required in order to produce enough more recent concept. The depth and breadth of the content of the module needs to be improved because the module is more directed to the technical aspects that may not be applicable in all regions in Indonesia. However, the competency that can be achieved by graduate students is sufficient. Limited use of reference associated with the latest policies led to the use of long term and terminology, which is not currently used. Instructional design analysis results indicate that need more improvement in terms of the relevance of the formulation of instructional objectives with the content material; systematic writing; uses illustrations; examples and non-examples; well as conformity exercises, summaries and formative tests. Based on the results of one-to-one and small group evaluation, the revision material accordance expert science input is generally can be understood by the students. Both modules can lead students to learn independently. However, examples and images can be added to increase the understanding of the students in learning the content of the module. In general, exercises, summaries and formative tests can be understood by the students. Bahan ajar cetak UT merupakan bahan ajar utama yang didesain untuk dapat digunakan secara mandiri oleh mahasiswa sebagai pengganti dosen. Artikel ini disusun dengan tujuan untuk menganalisis kualitas dan tingkat keterbacaan materi bahan ajar cetak untuk keperluan revisi agar bahan ajar tersebut dapat mencapai tujuan pembelajaran yang efektif. Penelitian yang mendasari penulisan artikel ini menggunakan rancangan formatif evaluatif research dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Objek penelitian adalah bahan ajar cetak mata kuliah Administrasi Penyuluhan Pertanian (LUHT4343), Modul 2 dan 4. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan penyebaran form evaluasi kepada ahli bidang ilmu (3 orang), ahli desain instruksional (1 orang), dan mahasiswa (13 orang). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas materi bahan ajar cetak pada Modul 2 dan 4 sebagian besar kurang valid dan kurang mutakhir jika dibandingkan dengan perkembangan keilmuan saat ini. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan perubahan yang cukup mendasar agar dapat menghasilkan konsep yang lebih terkini. Kedalaman dan keluasan isi modul perlu ditingkatkan karena modul tersebut lebih mengarah pada aspek teknis yang belum tentu dapat diterapkan di semua daerah di Indonesia. Namun, untuk kompetensi yang akan dicapai oleh mahasiswa tingkat sarjana sudah cukup memadai. Penggunaan referensi yang terbatas terkait dengan kebijakan terbaru menyebabkan adanya penggunaan istilah dan terminologi lama, yang saat ini tidak digunakan. Hasil analisis desain instruksional menunjukkan bahwa perlu perbaikan dalam hal relevansi rumusan tujuan instruksional dengan isi materi; sistematika penulisan; penggunaan ilustrasi; contoh dan noncontoh; serta kesesuaian latihan, rangkuman dan tes formatif. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi satu-satu dan kelompok kecil diperoleh bahwa materi yang telah direvisi sesuai masukan ahli materi, secara umum dapat dimengerti oleh mahasiswa. Kedua modul dapat menuntun mahasiswa untuk belajar mandiri. Namun, contoh dan gambar perlu ditambahkan untuk bisa menambah pemahaman mahasiswa dalam mempelajari isi modul. Secara umum, latihan, rangkuman dan tes formatif dapat dimengerti oleh mahasiswa.

Abstract

Traditional fish processing industries in Muara Angke Jakarta have been involving many labor from the local fishermen or others. This study describes the contributions of many small industry to the labor incomes based on every small industry profit distribution. Survey method had been applied to collect the data. The population are all small traditional fish processing industries in Muara Angke. The samples are chosen based on their product, either salty fish or smoked fish. “Hayami method” was applied to calculate the added value of each small industry. The results of this study shows that salty squid has the highest value added (Rp2167,61/kg) and highest profits (Rp2072,61/kg), Indian mackerel smoked fish gives the highest contributions to labor incomes (Rp663,36/kg). Sardinella salty fish gives the highest profit level, followed by salty squid and salty mackerel scad. Salty stingray and salty Indian mackerel gives high value for labor return. In addition, salty sardinella, salty squid, and salty “lesi” fish have high added value ratio. Salty stingray gives the highest other input contribution, followed by smoked Indian mackerel.

Abstract

Traditional fish processing industries in Cisolok Sukabumi is operated mainly by women organized in Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUB). This study is aimed to explain the influence of women characteristics on their participatory level in KUB activities exploratory research design with survey method were used to collect data. Sample populations of this study were all fisherwomen who process fish product in KUB. Forty samples were chosen with random sampling and datacollected were analysed by using structural equation model (SEM). The results show that participation level of fisherwomen in KUB is still low. Fisherwomen characteristics have no significant influence to participation level in KUB activities. Structural model obtained is not fit between hypothetic model and sample data. Therefore the model can not be applied in the field. But at the other hand, KUB have to intensify means to give the skill extension for fisherwomen so that participatory rate will increase.

Abstract

The aim of this articles is to measure the effectiveness of participatory rural appraisal approach (PRA) to solve problems of production and marketing of fish shredded at KUB Tenggiri. Research location is Joint Business Group (JBG) Tenggiri on village of Cikahuripan, District of Cisolok District, Regency of Sukabumi. Research design used a qualitative approach to the implementation of the PRA method. Informants research consisted of management and members JBG Tenggiri. Types of data collected is qualitative and quantitative data. The results showed that JBG Tenggiri still has the potential to be developed. Problems identified on JBG Tenggiri are institutional problems, declining fish shredded marketing, capital, and equipment. There are seven plans of successful programs developed in a participatory way by the members and administrators JBG Tenggiri to solve the problems faced. The plan is successfully implemented programs only four programs, which makes administrative completeness KUB, develop JBGs statute, the group met twice a month, and held a social gathering at each group meeting. Participatory approach effectively improve the participation of members in attending meetings JBG Tenggiri (68,4%) and training (36,8%), but not effective in increasing the savings of members.

Abstract

Reef fish resources are the main catch in Karimunjawa National Park. The fishing activities are feared to have an impact on the sustainability of fish resources inside and outside the conservation area. The purpose of this study is to analyze of the sustainability of reef fish resources (Family Caesionidae) in marine protected area. The study was conducted in Karimunjawa National Park (TNKJ) in Jepara Regency, Central Java, April-September 2017. Data collection was carried out by survey, observation, and deep interview methods, including primary data. Coral fish of the Caesionidae family, which were the object of research, were Caesio cuning and Caesio caerulaurea. Data collection on fish length and weight was carried out six times sampling (for six months). Examples of fish taken from three collectors in Karimunjawa Village. Water quality data was taken for analysis of pH, total dissolved solids (TDS), temperature, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS), and salinity. Data analysis using FISAT II program and estimation of spawning potential ratio (SPR) using length-based spawning potential ratio analysis. To analyze management aspects of reef fishes, stakeholder analysis was carried out. The research results indicated that Caesio cuning and Caesio caerulaurea had exploitation rate values ​​of 0.69 and 0.61, in the condition of over exploited. The spawning potential ratio (SPR) value are 0.14 and 0.25 (the capacity of adult fish that is ready naturally to spawn is very small). Water quality data is below the water quality standard for marine biota, indicated that the waters of the Karimunjawa National Park was sustainable. The results of stakeholder analysis indicated that there are four parties who are the subject of management. They were fisheries management authorities and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) as work partners of the management authority. Ikan karang merupakan sumber daya ikan yang menjadi tangkapan utama nelayan di Taman Nasional Karimunjawa. Penangkapan ikan tersebut dikhawatirkan berdampak pada keberlanjutan sumber daya ikan di dalam dan luar kawasan konservasi. Tujuan studi ini adalah menganalisis keberlanjutan sumber daya ikan karang Famili Caesionidae di kawasan konservasi. Studi dilakukan di Taman Taman Nasional Karimunjawa (TNKJ) Kabupaten Jepara, Jawa Tengah, April-September 2017. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode survei, observasi, dan wawancara dengan mengumpulkan data primer. Ikan karang Famili Caesionidae yang menjadi objek penelitian adalah Caesio cuning dan Caesio caerulaurea. Pengambilan data panjang dan bobot ikan dilakukan empat kali sampling (selama empat bulan). Contoh ikan diambil dari tiga pengepul di Desa Karimunjawa. Data kualitas air diambil untuk analisis pH, total dissolved solids (TDS), suhu, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS), dan salinitas. Analisis data menggunakan program FISAT II dan pendugaan spawning potential ratio (SPR) menggunakan analisis length-based spawning potential ratio. Untuk menganalisis aspek pengelolaan, dilakukan analisis stakeholder. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Caesio cuning dan Caesio caerulaurea mempunyai nilai laju eksploitasi berturut-turut 0,69 dan 0,61, berada pada kondisi over exploited. Nilai spawning potential ratio (SPR) berturut-turut adalah 0,14 dan 0,25 (kapasitas ikan dewasa yang siap memijah di alam sangat sedikit). Data kualitas air berada di bawah baku mutu perairan untuk biota laut, menunjukkan perairan TNKJ dalam kondisi berlanjut. Hasil analisis stakeholder menunjukkan ada empat pihak yang menjadi subjek pengelolaan, dan semuanya adalah pemegang otoritas pengelolaan perikanan dan Lembaga Swadaya Masyarakat (LSM) sebagai partner kerja otoritas pengelola.

Abstract

In extension agriculture, the innovation introduction for goals is the important think especially if the innovation had appropriate with goals needed and its application to raising the goals welfare. This study aimed to explains the fisherman innovativeness level and the adopter characteristic category.   Explanatory research design with survey method were used to collect data. The location were choosen with purposively in Kecamatan Palabuhanratu, Kabupaten Sukabumi, Jawa Barat.  The population as a whole are all fisherman in Palabuhanratu, and  37 fisherman are chosen randomly as study samples. Data collection is using survey method, and are showed quantitivelly by frequently tabulation and bar chart. This study shows that the fisherman in Kampung Cipatuguran, Palabuhanratu is dominated by high-level in leaderships level, capital ownership, empaty level, abstraction level, dare to take a risk level,  futuristic level, partisipation level, and communication activity.  Base on asking all of respondents, the degree of innovation tryness was shown medium relatively, decision for adopt the innovation is relatively high, the fearness of take a risk is relatively high, the need of supporting agent of change is relatively high, the appropriate of take a decision is relatively low,  the equal of social relationship is relatively high and the relationship with informal leader was is relatively low.Key words: adopter, fisherman, innovation

Abstract

Agricultural extension workers who study at Universitas Terbuka (UT), which is a distance education institution,were to obtain the necessary competencies. By studying at UT, they can improve their competencies without leaving their duties. The purpose of this study was to analyze the profile of learning process of agricultural extension workers in distance education, particularly in terms of interaction with modules, tutorial activities,the scope of learning materials, independent learning, and learning facilities. Designed as an exploratory research, this study was supported by qualitative approach to obtain information that was not obtained through surveys. Respondents were agricultural extension workers in the regions of Bengkulu, Samarinda, Serang, Pontianak, Jambi, Jakarta, and Bogor. The data collected in this study were primary and secondary data. Primary data were collected using a questionnaire and indepth interviews using interview guidelines. Secondary data were obtained through the collection of documentation. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis, while qualitative information was analyzed qualitatively. The results indicated that the profile of the learning process of agricultural extension workers graduated from distance education is quite good, as seen from the high-intensity interactions between agricultural extension workers with learning materials or modules. Their participation in tutorials were also good, especially in face to face tutorials. Online tutorials were generally not been widely used. The scope of learning materials also need to accommodate in accordance to the needs of their independent learning. However, to improve the quality of service, there are several things in the learning process that needs to be addressed, such as learning facilities and interaction with modules. Para penyuluh belajar di Universitas Terbuka (UT), yang merupakan institusi pendidikan jarak jauh, untuk mendapatkan kompetensi yang dibutuhkan. Dengan belajar di UT, penyuluh dapat meningkatkan kompetensinya tanpa meninggalkan tugas pekerjaannya. Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis keragaan proses pembelajaran penyuluh pertanian dalam sistem belajar jarak jauh, khususnya dalam hal interaksi penyuluh dengan modul, partisipasinya dalam kegiatan tutorial, cakupan materi dalam kurikulum, kemandirian belajar, dan pemanfaatan fasilitas belajar. Rancangan penelitian ini adalah exploratory research, didukung dengan pendekatan kualitatif untuk memperoleh informasi yang tidak diperoleh melalui survei. Sampel penelitian ini adalah penyuluh di wilayah Bengkulu, Samarinda, Serang, Pontianak, Jambi, Jakarta, dan Bogor. Data yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer dan data sekunder. Data primer dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan kuesioner melalui survei dan wawancara mendalam. Data sekunder diperoleh melalui pengumpulan dokumentasi dengan cara mencatat data yang tersedia di instansi-instansi, dan kajian pustaka yang relevan dengan penelitian. Data kuantitatif dianalisis menggunakan analisis statistika deskriptif, sedangkan informasi kualitatif dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keragaan proses pembelajaran penyuluh pertanian lulusan pendidikan jarak jauh UT cukup baik, yang terlihat dari intensitas interaksi yang tinggi antara penyuluh dengan bahan belajar atau modul. Disamping itu, partisipasi penyuluh dalam kegiatan tutorial juga baik, khususnya pada kegiatan tutorial tatap muka. Tutorial onlineumumnya belum banyak dimanfaatkan penyuluh mengingat ketika mereka belajar dulu layanan tutorial online yang disediakan UT masih terbatas. Kurikulum yang digunakan juga sudah mengakomodasi kebutuhan penyuluh yang mendukung kemandirian belajar mereka. Namun demikian, untuk meningkatkan kualitas layanan yang lebih baik, ada beberapa hal dalam proses pembelajaran yang perlu dibenahi, yaitu fasilitas belajar dan interaksi dengan bahan ajar.

Abstract

Universitas Terbuka (UT) sebagai perguruan tinggi (PT) negeri di Indonesia yang menerapkan sistem belajar Terbuka dan Jarak Jauh, dengan karakteristik mahasiswa yang berbeda dengan PT konvesional. Belajar di UT tidak dibatasi oleh umur, pekerjaan ataupun tempat tinggalnya. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji profil dan karakteristik individu penyuluh lulusan pendidikan jarak jauh. Profil penyuluh ditinjau dari segi asal UPBJJ-UT, bidang minat, status pekerjaan, dan tahun lulus. Sedangkan karakteristik individu dilihat dari umur, pengalaman kerja, jenis kelamin, dan motivasi belajar. Sampel penelitian ini adalah penyuluh alumni UT yang berjumlah 206 lulusan, berasal dari wilayah Bengkulu, Bogor, Jakarta, Jambi, Pontianak, Samarinda, dan Serang. Semua wilayah tersebut dipilih dengan pertimbangan merupakan daerah dengan jumlah lulusan yang cukup banyak. Untuk memperkaya hasil penelitian, dilakukan wawancara mendalam (Indepth Interview) terhadap beberapa informan kunci. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bidang minat yang terbanyak diambil penyuluh lulusan UT adalah pertanian, dan kebanyakan dari mereka adalah penyuluh lulusan UT antara tahun 2006 hingga 2014, sebagian besar (61,2%) tergolong usia lanjut yaitu berumur sekitar 48 sampai dengan 60 tahun, mempunyai pengalaman kerja yang cukup lama yaitu antara 15 – 38 tahun (60,2%), pekerjaan sebagai penyuluh masih didominasi oleh laki-laki (73,3%), serta mempunyai motivasi belajar yang tinggi (97,2%).

Abstract

One of the products that are beneficial to humans is local microorganisms (MOL). MOL is a liquid containing microorganisms produced by themselves from natural materials around us, where these materials serve as a medium for the life and development of microorganisms that are useful in accelerating the destruction of organic materials (decomposers) or as additional nutrients for plants. Activity community service aims to increase knowledge and skills about the manufacture of local microorganisms (MOL) and their use in orchids. Activity community service was carried out at PKK Taman Darmaga Permai Bogor with a membership of about 40 people. Stages of activity community services namely: (1) Location survey/licensing; (2) Theoretical training: (3) Practical training; (4) Spraying; and (5) Monitoring and evaluation. In addition to the stages above, the team community service also distributed questionnaires to assess the level of knowledge, mental attitudes, and skills of participant community service on the manufacture of MOL and its use in orchid plants. Training participant community service general, they can understand about the making of MOL and the cultivation of orchids in theory. After they understand the theory of making MOL for orchids, they can also practice making MOL in their own homes. Furthermore, the MOL that has been made by PKK participants is applied to orchid plants by spraying all parts of the plant. From the results of monitoring and evaluation from the team community service, the orchid plants that had been sprayed with MOL by the training participants appeared to be thriving and blooming diligently. Salah satu produk yang bermanfaat bagi manusia adalah Mikroorganisme Lokal (MOL). MOL adalah cairan yang mengandung mikroorganisme hasil produksi sendiri dari bahan-bahan alami di sekitar kita, dimana bahan-bahan tersebut sebagai media untuk hidup dan berkembangnya mikroorganisme yang berguna dalam mempercepat penghancuran bahan-bahan organik (dekomposer) atau sebagai tambahan nutrisi bagi tanaman. Kegiatan abdimas bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan tentang pembuatan mikroorganisme lokal (MOL) dan pemanfaatannya pada tanaman anggrek. Kegiatan abdimas dilakukan di PKK Taman Darmaga Permai Bogor dengan jumlah anggota sekitar 40 orang. Tahapan kegiatan abdimas yaitu: (1) Survei lokasi/perijinan; (2) Pelatihan secara teori: (3) Pelatihan secara praktik; (4) Penyemprotan; dan (5) Monitoring serta evaluasi. Selain tahapan di atas, tim abdimas juga menyebarkan kuesioner untuk menjaring tingkat pengetahuan, sikap mental, dan keterampilan peserta abdimas terhadap pembuatan MOL dan pemanfaatannya pada tanaman anggrek. Peserta pelatihan abdimas pada umumnya dapat memahami tentang pembuatan MOL dan budidaya tanaman anggrek yang dilakukan secara teori. Setelah mereka memahami tentang teori pembuatan MOL tanaman anggrek, mereka juga dapat mempraktikkan pembuatan MOL di rumah masing-masing. Selanjutnya MOL yang sudah dibuat oleh peserta PKK diaplikasikan ke tanaman anggrek dengan cara di semprot di seluruh bagian tanaman. Dari hasil monitoring dan evaluasi dari tim abdimas, tanaman anggrek yang telah disemprot dengan MOL oleh para peserta pelatihan nampak tumbuh subur dan rajin berbunga.
