Abstract

Observation of food and non-food expenditure patterns of families in semi-arid areas, East Nusa Tenggara Province is important, in order to evaluate the economic welfare of families. The focus of this research is to compare expenditure patterns between families who are in pre-prosperous conditions. A pre-prosperous family refers to a family with a low level of economic welfare or below the poverty line, while a prosperous family is a family that has a higher level of economic welfare and is sufficient to meet their basic needs. The research used 100 respondents consisting of 50 pre-prosperous families and 50 respondents from prosperous families. The data were analyzed using Chi Square to see differences in food and non-food expenditure patterns between the two levels of welfare. This research found that in underprivileged families the expenditure pattern for food was greater, namely 56.39%, compared to non-food expenditure of 43.61%. In a prosperous family, expenditure on food is greater, namely 56.75%, compared to non-food expenditure of 43.25%. This shows that the largest proportion of expenditure in both families is for food. However, there is a tendency that higher family income will increase non-food spending, even though it is relatively small. The various types of food and non-food consumed by pre-prosperous and prosperous-1 families show the same pattern. However, the proportions are different in the pre-prosperous and prosperous-1 family groups following differences in income. The variety of types of food and non-food commodities available in the Semiringkai area is relatively limited, because agricultural products are seasonal and economic activities have not yet been developed. It is necessary to develop community empowerment in accordance with regional potential for business diversification and build the community's local economy.

The collected data was than analyzed using the Cobb-Douglas production function and processed using the SPSS version 16 program. The research results show that the stages of field rice farming activities include land processing, seed preparation, seeding, planting, fertilizing, weeding, harvesting and post-harvest. Based on analysis using the Cobb-Douglas Production function, the following output is obtained : Y = 5,168 X10,284 X20,064 X30,144 X40,457. The simultaneous F test show that together the independent variables have a significant effect on field rice production. Partially test (t test), land area, fertilizer, and labor have a positive and significant effect on field rice production, while seeds have a positive and insignificant effect on field rice production. The adjusted R2 amounting to 0,592 indicates that the combination of production factors of land area, seeds, fertilizer, and labor can simultaneously explain the dependent variable, namely field rice production, amounting to 59,2%. The remaining 40,8% is influenced by other factors not included in the regression model.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the production process, marketing mix management, and income generated from local snack food processing by the Nusa Hijau Farmer Group in Oesao Village, East Kupang District, Kupang Regency. The processed products include kue nogasari made from bananas and kue ubi isi gula lempeng made from cassava. This research uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, supported by quantitative analysis to calculate business income. The results show that the production process is carried out traditionally using locally sourced raw materials and simple household-scale equipment, with active participation from group members. The marketing mix strategy includes: (1) Product: distinctive taste, safe for consumption, and preservative-free, but lacks innovation in packaging and product variety; (2) Price: set at IDR 1,000 per unit, based on local purchasing power and simple production costs; (3) Promotion: still limited to word-of-mouth and personal social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook; (4) Distribution: conducted directly from the production site and through local orders, with no partnerships yet with souvenir shops or larger institutions. Income analysis shows total production costs of IDR 2,362,500 and revenue of IDR 4,500,000 from selling 4,500 snack units, resulting in a net income of IDR 2,137,500. The R/C Ratio value of 1.90 indicates that for every IDR 1 spent, the return is IDR 1.90, making this business profitable and feasible for further development.

Abstract

Abstract

Farmer groups have an important role in the development of the agricultural sector. The production of organic vegetables not only supports environmental sustainability, but also increases the added value of agricultural products. However, in its implementation, Farmer Groups often face various obstacles, one of which is the limited availability of organic fertilizers. Organic fertilizers can support plant production and can replace the role of chemical fertilizers. Another problem faced by Farmer Groups, especially the New Living Farmers Group, is the increasing difficulty of obtaining chemical fertilizers. In addition to the increasingly expensive price of chemical fertilizers, the circulation of fake fertilizers in the market is also a challenge for farmers. This condition encourages the need for a more sustainable solution in meeting the fertilizer needs of Farmer Groups, namely by producing their own organic fertilizers independently.
