Abstract

The lack of utilization of teaching materials that can attract students' attention is one of the problems in mathematics education that has been identified from various sources. The aim of this study is to create a valid, practical, and effective learning resource based on PowerPoint for eighth-grade students at MTs Nurul Yaqin Tondano. This study is a research and development (R&D) type that uses the 4-D development approach (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). Evaluation by expert validators resulted in a very valid score of 91.33. Based on the responses from teachers and students, the practicality scores were 98 and 87.93, respectively, and were classified as very good. With a classical graduation rate of 81%, the created PowerPoint has met the effective criteria. In summary, the created PowerPoint is valid, practical, and effective for learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the most profitable production combination for the traditional martabak business in Ritey Village by utilizing the simplex method as an analytical tool. The business faces constraints related to raw materials, capital, and production time, which directly affect the number and types of martabak produced daily. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, real data were collected through field observation and interviews, including production time, raw material usage, production costs, and net profit for the three types of martabak produced. These data were then formulated into a linear programming model to maximize profit. The results show that the optimal production combination is achieved at , , and , yielding a maximum daily profit of Rp240,000. The findings reveal a clear difference between the intuitive production decisions previously made by the business owner and the optimal strategy generated through mathematical analysis. This study demonstrates that the simplex method can serve as an effective and practical strategy for small-scale traditional culinary enterprises to enhance production efficiency without altering the product’s traditional characteristics and flavor.

Abstract

Sasya Avocado Shake UMKM face obstacles in determining the most efficient production combination due to limitations in daily raw materials such as avocados, sweetened condensed milk, liquid milk, glasses, Milo, and cheese. This study aims to formulate a Linear Programming model and determine the optimal solution using the simplex method to obtain maximum profit. A quantitative approach is used through operations research techniques, with data collection in the form of raw material requirements, production costs, selling prices, and production capacity for each variant. The mathematical model was constructed with three decision variables, namely the production of the original variant, cheese, and Milo, accompanied by an objective function to maximize profit and constraints in accordance with the limitations of raw material availability. Manual calculations and the Simplex Calculator application showed that the optimal production combination was to prioritize the original and Milo variants, while the cheese variant was not produced because its profit margin was low and the use of raw materials was more expensive. These findings prove that the simplex method is effective in helping MSMEs allocate resources and encourage production to focus on variants with the highest profits. Linear programming models can be a strategic tool for MSMEs to improve operational efficiency and profits in a sustainable manner.
