Abstract

AbstrakKemampuan berbicara juga dapat menjadikan seseorang menjadi pemimpin karena public speaking merupakan komunikasi secara lisan tentang suatutopik dihadapan orang yang bertujuan untuk mempengaruhi, mendidik, memberi penjelasan serta memberi informasi kepada orang lain agar orang tersebut tertarik dengan apa yang kita sampaikan. Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat yang dilakukan di SMAN 2 Kota Agung yang memiliki tujuan untuk mendampingi para siswa-siswi untuk memiliki Public Speaking yang baik. Ada tiga sesi dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini, yaitu: 1) penyampaian materi mengenai Public Speaking, 2) Story telling dan praktik, 3) Speech dan praktik. Keterlibatan para siswa dalam proses pembelajaran Public Speaking ini pada akhirnya dapat meningkatkan rasa percaya diri siswa dalam berbicara Bahasa Inggris dan menurunkan persepsi negatifnya terhadap Bahasa Inggris. Lebih lanjut, kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat dilakukan secara berkelanjutan di masa yang akan datang sehingga dapat tercapai tujuan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris secara holistik.  Kata kunci: bahasa inggris, public speaking, speech, story telling

Abstract

AbstractThis study examines the benefits and barriers of implementing the Reading Aloud strategy for young readers, particularly at the elementary school level. Through a theoretical research approach, we analyze recent literature and studies from 2019-2023 to provide a comprehensive understanding of how this strategy shapes early literacy development. The research highlights the multifaceted benefits of Reading Aloud, including enhanced vocabulary acquisition, improved comprehension skills, increased fluency and prosody, and the fostering of critical thinking abilities. These advantages are grounded in established educational theories such as Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development and Bandura's Social Learning Theory. However, the study also identifies several barriers to effective implementation, including time constraints, the need for proper training, and the challenge of selecting appropriate reading materials. The paper discusses strategies to overcome these obstacles and explores the potential of integrating modern technologies to enhance this fundamental literacy practice. By synthesizing current research and analyzing emerging trends, this study offers valuable insights for educators, parents, and policymakers striving to nurture a new generation of literate and engaged readers. The findings underscore the continued relevance and effectiveness of the Reading Aloud strategy in contemporary educational settings, supporting its implementation as a versatile tool for literacy instruction across various learning environments. Keywords: Educational strategies, elementary education, literacy development, reading aloud, young readers.

Abstract

Desa Negara Batin, yang terletak di Kabupaten Way Kanan, Provinsi Lampung, memiliki potensi kerajinan tangan yang besar, terutama dalam pembuatan produk kerajinan manik seperti wadah tisu dan wadah minuman gelas. Meskipun produk ini telah mendapatkan perhatian positif di tingkat lokal, pengrajin masih menghadapi tantangan dalam memperluas jangkauan pemasaran karena keterbatasan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam memanfaatkan platform digital. Program pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi kendala tersebut dengan memberikan edukasi tentang pemasaran berbasis e-commerce, yang meliputi penggunaan media sosial dan marketplace. Pelatihan ini berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman peserta tentang pemasaran digital, dan hasil menunjukkan antusiasme serta keterlibatan aktif para peserta. Namun, beberapa keterbatasan muncul, seperti kurangnya penggunaan perangkat digital selama pelatihan dan buruknya kualitas koneksi internet. Meskipun demikian, pelatihan ini dinilai berhasil dan direncanakan untuk diperluas cakupannya di masa mendatang guna mendukung pengrajin dalam meningkatkan pemasaran produk mereka ke pasar yang lebih luas. Kata kunci : Kerajinan Manik, Pemasaran Digital, E-commerce, Desa Negara Batin, Wadah Tisu, Wadah Minuman Gelas, Pelatihan Pemasaran, Media Sosial, Marketplace.

Abstract

Pembelajaran aktif atau active learning merupakan salah satu strategi yang efektif untuk mengajar bahasa Inggris karena sifat pembelajaran bahasa itu sendiri membutuhkan interaksi satu sama lain. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat yang dilakukan di MA Ma’arif 9 Kotagajah, Lampung Tengah bertujuan untuk memberikan pendampingan kepada para siswa di sekolah tersebut untuk belajar Bahasa Inggris secara aktif dan terlibat secara langsung dalam setiap aktifitas pembelajaran. Terdapat empat sesi dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini, yaitu: 1) penyampaian materi dan motivasi belajar Bahasa Inggris, 2) tips and trik, serta best practice dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris, 3) penerapan active learning dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, dan 4) motivasi lanjut studi setelah menguasai Bahasa Inggris. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukan bahwa para siswa yang pada awalnya memiliki motivasi yang rendah dan persepsi kurang baik terhadap pelajaran Bahasa Inggris mengalami peningkatan motivasi belajar Bahasa Inggris setelah mengikuti kegiatan pendampingann pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Hal ini ditunjukan dengan respon positif siswa selama mengikuti kegiatan dan hasil kuesioner terkait persepsi siswa terhadap kegiatan. Kegiatan serupa sebagai kelanjutan proses pembelajaran juga diharapkan guna tercapai tujuan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris secara menyeluruh.Kata Kunci: active learning, Bahasa Inggris, pendampingan pembelajaran

Abstract

This research explores the role of film-integrated activities in stimulating high school students' creativity in spoken communication through structured film discussions. Employing an experimental design, eleventh-grade students were divided into two groups, with the experimental group participating in guided discussions based on the short film The Buddy. Pre- and post-intervention assessments evaluated student performance in grammar, vocabulary, fluency, pronunciation, and comprehension. The results indicated significant improvements in speaking proficiency following the intervention, as confirmed by statistical analyses. These findings underscore the effectiveness of using films as authentic instructional tools that not only enhance speaking skills but also foster student creativity. The study highlights the pedagogical value of integrating multimedia materials into language instruction to promote more dynamic and communicative learning environments.

Abstract

The study aims to examine whether there is any important association between learning style and students’ Speaking ability. The method used in this study is a quantitative survey by questionnaire. The sample for this study consisted of 42 students studying English Education at Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia. To analyze the information, the analysts utilized SPSS Windows 21. The investigation yields a least score of 70, a greatest score of 90, and an average score of 85. Based on the results of this consideration, it can be concluded that there's a positive relationship between the utilization of learning styles and speaking ability. The educational implications of English teachers' proposals to train English learners to adopt language learning styles and improve their speaking ability between learning style and speaking ability of students.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of interactive modules based on Liveworksheet in constructing history learning to improve historical thinking skills and historical awareness of students at SMA Yayasan Pendidikan Universitas Lampung. The method used is descriptive quantitative research involving 64 students as samples. The study was conducted in four meetings, where each meeting lasted for 2x90 minutes. Data were collected through pretest and posttest, which consisted of 10 question items. The results showed a significant increase in student scores, with the highest pretest score of 84 and post-test of 96. Analysis using the N-Gain technique showed that 29.69% of students were in the high category, while 70.31% were in the medium category. These findings indicate that interactive modules based on Liveworksheet are effective in improving students' understanding of history. This study recommends the use of innovative and interactive teaching modules to support a more interesting and effective learning process in the digital era.

Abstract

Research on pre-service teachers (PSTs) has increasingly focused on their integration of technology-based tools during teaching practicums. However, limited attention has been given to how PSTs navigate these tools in rural school settings. This study examines the types of technology-based tools selected by PSTs and explores their perspectives on their use in English teaching. Employing a qualitative descriptive research design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with eight PSTs from Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia who taught in two public rural schools during their teaching practicum. The interview data were transcribed, coded, and analyzed thematically. Findings revealed that PSTs primarily utilized AI, web-based, and game-based tools in their teaching. Among AI-based tools, ChatGPT was the most frequently used. Canva, Pinterest, and Bilibili were commonly selected for web-based tools, while Kahoot! Quizizz and Wordwall were preferred for game-based learning. PSTs expressed positive views on these tools, highlighting improvements in students’ learning satisfaction, motivation, and classroom engagement. However, they also faced challenges, particularly regarding accessibility and technical limitations in rural areas. Additionally, students had limited digital competencies, which must be addressed to prepare them for future technological advancements. Teaching obstacles also stemmed from the incompatibility of students’ digital devices, further complicating technology integration in the classroom. Despite these barriers, such challenges should not hinder the educational process. Students' limitations can be addressed through collaborative learning strategies and enhancements in instructional quality. Therefore, this study recommends infrastructure improvements to expand technology accessibility and implement adaptive teaching strategies that maximize available resources in rural settings.

Abstract

Kegiatan dilaksanakan untuk memberikan pelatihan pemanfaatan Canva sebagai media pembelajaran di SMA N 5 Metro. Tujuan dari pelaksanaan pelatihan ini adalah untuk memberikan pelatihan pembuatan media pembelajaran dengan menggunakan Canva. Kegiatan pelatihan dilaksanakan oleh Tim PkM dari Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia kepada guru-guru di SMA N 5 Metro. Pelatihan dilaksanakan dengan tahapan pertama yaitu melakukan survey lapangan, memberikan materi pelatihan Canva, praktik pembuatan media pembelajaran dengan menggunakan Canva dan memberikan angket persepsi guru terhdap pelatihan pemanfaatan Canva untuk pembelajaran. Rata-rata 96% guru memberikan respon positif terhadap pelaksanaan pelatihan Canva sebagai media pembelajaran. Guru sangat setuju bahwa Canva sangat mempermudah membuat media pembelajaran; Canva mudah untuk digunakan. Canva dapat digunakan untuk membuat media yang lebih kreatif dan inovatif, media hasil desain menggunakan Canva akan disukai peserta didik; dan mendesain media pembelajaran dengan memanfaatkan Canva lebih efisien digunakan dibandingkan media konvensional.
