Abstract

This study aims to determine the amount of macronutrient content of nitrogen, phosphate and potassium from catfish culture waste as liquid organic fertilizer (POC) through a fermentation process at different times. As well as knowing the potential economic value, by determining the cost of production and the selling price of catfish farming waste products as liquid organic fertilizer in Benteng Somba Opu Village, Barombong District, Gowa Regency. This research was carried out for three months, from February to April 2021. The fermentation process used a simple experimental research design method, while the potential economic value used a quantitative descriptive research method. The results of the study on catfish culture wastewater contained N, P and K. Macro nutrient levels of catfish manure containing N (nitrogen) ranged from 0.98 - 1.67%, P (phosphorus) 1.89 - 3.40 % and K (potassium) 0.10-1.03%. Apart from the content of macro-nutrient levels to improve macro-nutrients in the soil, POC also provides additional income for catfish cultivators. HPP based on research results is Rp. 19,000 / liter. Comparison of the price of poc in the market with liquid organic fertilizer that has been fermented by comparing 3 brands of poc on the market with the same size, namely 1 liter. The average profit potential of liquid organic fertilizer from catfish farming waste in a month (30 days) is Rp. 884,190, / Month, where the desired POC selling price ranges from Rp.47,500-Rp.52,000,-. Although the potential is small, it is quite interesting for catfish cultivators to try. This is in line with the increase in the production process of catfish cultivation, so additional income in the production of liquid organic fertilizer will also increase.

Economic problems, especially for coastal communities in Indonesia, have become a natural thing for us to find. Especially coastal communities located in remote or marginalized areas. The impact of these problems is a change or decrease in the quality of the coastal environment. The economic problems experienced by the community are caused by the low income of coastal communities, also caused by the rise and fall in production, expenditure and income of the community which are influenced by various things. The purpose of this study is to analyze the amount of costs, acceptance and income of the community. The method used is descriptive analysis of the results of field observations. The results showed that the average total expenditure of the Lantebung mangrove ecotourism community was Rp. 1,365,733, the average revenue is Rp. 2,731,133 and the average income of the community is Rp. 1,365,400. From the results of the analysis, the size of the income earned by a household is influenced by the income and expenses required. Households that have high income tend to have high income too, but this cannot be separated from how the household manages its expenses.

Abstract

This study examines the perceptions of small-scale fishers in coastal areas and small islands of Pangkep Regency towards the impacts of climate change. The impacts of climate change experienced by fishers include unpredictable changes in weather patterns, increased sea temperatures, and unpredictable fishing seasons, which overall reduce catches and increase safety risks at sea. The research was conducted for 6 months from May to October 2024. The research was conducted in Pangkep District, South Sulawesi. The research location was purposively selected to illustrate the condition of fishermen who are directly affected by climate change. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, direct observation, questionnaires, and literature studies. The number of samples in this study were 50 fishermen with the criteria of small fishermen who have a ship/boat capacity of 0-10 GT. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The qualitative approach allows researchers to explore fishermen's subjective perceptions of the impacts of climate change. Most fishers reported a decrease in catches due to changes in fish migration thought to be related to rising seawater temperatures, which forced them to go further out to sea and incur greater operational costs. In addition, climate change is resulting in extreme weather that often poses accident risks for fishers, while limited access to weather information and technology hinders their adaptation. This suggests the need for adaptation policies, such as climate training and improved access to weather information for small-scale fishers, to strengthen their resilience to climate change.

Abstract

Climate change is a global challenge that has significant impacts on the fisheries sector. This phenomenon involves increasing global temperatures, changing weather patterns, rising sea levels, and increasing the frequency and intensity of natural disasters. Climate change not only threatens marine ecosystems but also affects the livelihoods of coastal communities, especially small-scale fishers who depend on fisheries resources for their survival. This study aims to analysis the economic adaptation of small-scale fishers in facing the impacts of climate change. The research was conducted from May to October 2024 in Pangkajene Islands Regency (Pangkep). This research used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through interviews, questionnaires, field observations, and literature studies. Respondents in this study were 50 fishermen who were selected purposively. Data analysis used with descriptive qualitative. The results show that climate change has a significant impact on fishing patterns and catches. The increase in sea temperature, high waves, and storms cause a decrease in productivity and increase the risk of damage to fishing gear. In facing these challenges, fishers apply economic adaptation strategies such as livelihood diversification, regulation of fishing period/time, improving fishing technology, changing fishing areas, and strengthening community cooperation. This research recommends strengthening the capacity of fishermen through training, access to microfinance, and development of disaster-resistant infrastructure. The results of this study are expected to serve as a basis for the government and stakeholders in formulating community-based adaptation policies to increase the resilience of small-scale fishing communities to the impacts of climate change.
