Abstract

This research is motivated by the dynamics of social, religious, and economic relations between Chinese and Muslim populations in Lenteng, Sumenep, which have shown the complexity and richness of intercultural interactions. The unique cultural and religious diversity in this area has presented unique challenges and opportunities to build social harmony through the leadership role of kiai in strengthening inter-community cohesion. This study uses multicultural Islamic education to examine the role of Kiai leadership in promoting unity between Chinese and Muslim populations in Lenteng Timur, Sumenep. Employing a qualitative methodology and case study framework, data were gathered via observation, interviews, and document analysis. The results indicate two principal conclusions. The Kiai utilize various strategies, such as reinterpreting religious texts within a multicultural context, differentiating between exclusive theological doctrines and inclusive social interactions, adopting a cultural perspective rooted in Madurese values, and implementing personalized approaches through interpersonal engagement. The influence of this leadership is apparent in various aspects: socially and culturally, it has promoted harmonious integration among ethnic groups; economically, it has enabled mutually advantageous relationships based on Islamic business ethics; and religiously, it has resulted in the establishment of inclusive practices characterized by distinct “boundary awareness.” This research enhances comprehension of the transformative function of religious leadership in fostering intercultural harmony using contextually relevant, faith-based educational approaches

Abstract

Throughout the history, it is well-known that the ingress and the progress of Islam in Indonesia, especially in Java and Madura, were held almost without any tension and conflict. Even in the societies with some former belief systems such as Animism and Buddhism, Islam was easily accepted as a religion that brings peace within its teachings. During periods, Islam and local cultures perform a dialectical relationship and give rise to local variances of Islam, such as Javanese Islam, Madurese Islam, Sasak Islam, Sundanese Islam, etc. Those variances of Islam are the result of an acculturation process between Islam with the local cultures. In other word, this process is also called as “inculturation”. These local variances of Islam, further termed as the “cultural Islam” in this paper, have become a characteristics of Indonesian Islamic societies phenomenon which are different from Middle-East’s Islamic society and European Islamic society. This paper discusses about the Madurese Islam, one of these cultural Islam’s variances. Dialectical process between Islam and the local culture of Madura in turn generates a unique Madurese Islam, which is distinctive and esoteric. In its further developments, Islam and Madurese tradition are seen as unity and inseparatable, though people can still distinguish one another. This study seeks to uncover and expose the Islamic cultural dynamics that exist and grow in Madura: how big is the change that occurred, in which part, and what factors underlie these changes. This study provides benefit in enriching our scientific study about Indonesian cultural heritage, especially about the dialectical relationship between Islam and Madurese local culture. Sepanjang sejarah, diketahui bahwa masuknya dan kemajuan Islam di Indonesia, khususnya di Jawa dan Madura, berlangsung hampir tanpa ketegangan dan konflik. Bahkan di masyarakat dengan beberapa sistem kepercayaan sebelumnya seperti Animisme dan Budhisme, Islam dengan mudah diterima sebagai agama yang membawa kedamaian dalam ajarannya. Selama periode tersebut, Islam dan budaya lokal melakukan hubungan dialektis dan menimbulkan varian Islam lokal, seperti Islam Jawa, Islam Madura, Sasak Islam, Islam Sunda, dan sebagainya. Perbedaan varian Islam tersebut adalah hasil proses akulturasi antara Islam dengan budaya lokal. Dengan kata lain, proses ini juga disebut sebagai "inkulturasi". Variasi Islam lokal ini, yang selanjutnya disebut sebagai "Islam budaya" dalam makalah ini, telah menjadi ciri khas fenomena masyarakat Islam Indonesia yang berbeda dari masyarakat Islam Timur Tengah dan masyarakat Islam Eropa. Tulisan ini membahas tentang Islam Madura, salah satu varian Islam budaya ini. Proses dialektis antara Islam dan budaya lokal Madura pada gilirannya menghasilkan Islam Madura yang unik, yang khas dan esoteris. Dalam perkembangan selanjutnya, tradisi Islam dan Madura dipandang sebagai kesatuan dan tak terpisahkan, meski orang masih bisa saling membedakan. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap dan mengekspos dinamika budaya Islam yang ada dan berkembang di Madura: seberapa besar perubahan yang terjadi, di bagian mana, dan faktor-faktor apa yang mendasari perubahan ini. Studi ini memberi manfaat dalam memperkaya kajian ilmiah kita tentang warisan budaya Indonesia, terutama tentang hubungan dialektis antara Islam dan budaya lokal Madura.

Abstract

Expressions of joy, tremendous courage, and a high sense of self-worth all arise in the adolescent phase. As a result, children in this stage often make noisy and irritating noises. Adolescents in this stage have lofty, often unattainable goals and overly optimistic thinking. Their speech, which is often “normal,” becomes unpleasant or pathetic in this phase because they are very sensitive to the opinions of others. When viewed as children, especially young ones, they are highly resented. Based on this description, this research intends to examine how the role of homeroom teachers in guidance and counseling in the formation of the character of Akhlakul Karimah Santriwati Class 2 KMI (Kulliyatul Mu'allimat Al-Islamiyah) Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Putri Campus 1 Mantingan Ngawi. This research uses qualitative methods which include unstructured interviews, participant and non-participant observations, as well as documentation. From the research that took place at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Putri campus 1, Mantingan, Ngawi, data processing revealed that homeroom teachers play an important role in the lives of grade 2 students because these students are undergoing a transition period that can lead to crisis. In boarding schools, homeroom teachers act as mentors and counselors, replacing the role of parents. In addition to being teachers and educators, homeroom teachers act as role models and motivators. Homeroom teachers play an important role in moral formation, mental growth, and positive personal development. In addition, homeroom teachers act as confidants and friends to their students, helping them overcome any problems. To improve the morale of their students, homeroom teachers should always provide assistance and counseling to their students before becoming friends and lovers and encouraging them to be more independent and more extreme in handling every problem they face.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan pendidikan dasar di Kabupaten Sumenep yang dikelola sesuai dengan standar mutu pendidikan nasional. Penelitian ini mengungkap tiga permasalahan utama, yaitu (1) bagaimana kebijakan pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan dasar di Kabupaten Sumenep (2) bagaimana implementasi standar mutu pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan dasar di Kabupaten Sumenep (3) bagaiman dampak kebijakan pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan dasar di Kabupaten Sumenep. Penelitin ini menggunakan metode kualitif-lapangan pada beberapa 8 lembaga tingkat sekolah dasar di Kabupaten Sumenep, yakni di Kecamatan Pragaan dan Kecamatan Batang-Batang. Untuk mengumpulkan data di lapangan, peneliti menggunakan tiga teknik pengumpulan data, yaitu teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil Penelitian ini menghasilkan tiga temuan utama. Pertama, bentuk kebijakan pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan dasar di Kabupaten Sumenep, yaitu kebijakan pendirian lembaga baru, penerimaan peserta didik, kesejahteraan guru, dan pemerataan pendidikan tingkat sekolah dasar. Kedua, implementasi standar mutu pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan dasar dilakukan dengan meningkatkan ketersediaan sarana dan prasarana sekolah, meningkatkan keterampilan, bakat, dan minat siswa, peningkatan profesionalisme guru dan tenaga kependidikan, penerapan sekolah berbasis digital dan literasi, peningkatan pengawasan, monitoring dan evaluasi program sekolah, dan peningkatan skill kepemimpinan kepala sekolah. Ketiga, dampak kebijakan pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan dasar di Kabupaten Sumenep adalah moratorium pendirian lembaga baru, pembatasan pembangunan sekolah, re-grouping lembaga, persaingan dan perebutan murid, dan tertibnya sistem penerimaan siswa baru.

Abstract

This study examines the wisdom contained in the repetition of the verse "Waylu Yawmaiz li al-Mukazzibin" in Surah al-Mursalat using Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic approach. The purpose of this study is to provide new insights into the meaning of the repetition of verses in Surah al-Mursalat. This repetition occurs ten times and is the main focus of this study, which is considered a sign from Allah containing important messages. To reveal this meaning, a semiotic approach is used with Saussure's dyadic theory (two elements). This study uses a library research method with descriptive analytical data presentation. The primary data sources used are Surah al-Mursalat and Ferdinand de Saussure's work, Course in General Linguistics, which has been translated into Indonesian. The results of the research show that: a) The repetition of the verse in Surah al-Mursalat functions as an affirmation and reinforcement of the warning for those who lie, b) The repetition of "Waylu" contains a threat for people who reject the teachings of Allah and the Day of Judgment, and provides a reward for those who are pious, c) The repetition of "Waylu" together with "al-Mukazzibin" reminds us not to lie and deny Allah's decrees, d) The wisdom contained in the Surah al-Mursalat reminds us of the retribution for people who deny the teachings of Allah and the Day of Judgment, as well as being a motivation to do good

Abstract

Although religious education for children with special needs has attracted increasing attention, there remains a limited number of studies examining specific strategies for instilling religious values in students with intellectual disabilities, despite their critical role in character development and spiritual independence. This study aims to analyze the implementation of habituation methods in fostering Islamic spiritual intelligence and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors at SLB Putra Idhata Madiun. A qualitative approach with a field study design was employed, involving research subjects at SLB Putra Idhata Madiun from May to December 2024. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using interactive analysis techniques comprising data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the habituation method is implemented consistently through the integration of daily routines such as praying before and after lessons, practicing ablution, performing congregational Dhuhr prayers, cultivating the tradition of greetings, and commemorating Islamic holidays. These results are aligned with the research objectives and reinforce behaviorist theory, which posits that the repetition of routine behaviors can effectively shape cognitive patterns in students with special needs. The study concludes that the spiritual intelligence of children with intellectual disabilities can be effectively developed through structured routines, although its success is highly contingent on the synergy between teacher guidance, parental support, and the broader school environment. Theoretically, this research enriches the literature on inclusive Islamic education, while practically it provides recommendations for schools to enhance creative innovations in religious habituation programs and for parents to strengthen continuous spiritual guidance at home, as well as opening opportunities for further research on adaptive technology-based learning media to support the spirituality of children with intellectual disabilities in more interactive ways.

Abstract

Indonesian Islamic higher education institutions face a distinctive dual mandate of maintaining religious authenticity whilst achieving global academic competitiveness. However, the causal mechanisms linking innovation to competitive advantage in this context remain systematically underexplored. This study presents a bibliometric analysis of quality assurance and innovation research in Indonesian Islamic higher education from 2015 to 2025, aiming to map the intellectual landscape, identify thematic evolution, and examine collaboration patterns within this emerging field. Using Publish or Perish (Version 8) for data extraction and VOSviewer (Version 1.6.20) for network analysis, 500 publications were retrieved from Google Scholar and systematically screened in accordance with PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Citation analysis was conducted on a subset of 198 publications with complete metadata, yielding 2,208 total citations and an h-index of 22. Five thematic clusters were identified: Innovation-Competitiveness Nexus (35–40% of keywords), Quality Assurance Systems (25–28%), Islamic Higher Education Context (18–22%), Leadership and Governance (12–15%), and Stakeholder Engagement (8–10%). Temporal analysis reveals a three-phase evolution from descriptive quality assurance documentation (2015–2018) toward deeper theoretical development of the relationship between innovation and competitive advantage (2022–2025). Analysis of the same subset further demonstrates limited and dispersed collaboration patterns among authors, with a mean authorship of 2.18, a network density of 0.14, and an international co-authorship rate of 8.1%. These findings yield a triple-pathway theoretical proposition quality assurance infrastructure, digital transformation capacity, and Islamic identity integration through which innovation may translate into competitive advantage, extending Dynamic Capabilities frameworks to religious institutional contexts

Abstract

Relasi antara agama dan sains dalam pemikiran Islam kontemporer masih diwarnai oleh ketegangan antara pendekatan integratif dan pendekatan yang menekankan netralitas sains. Polarisasi ini memunculkan kebutuhan akan kerangka konseptual yang mampu menjembatani kedua posisi tersebut secara proporsional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konstruksi sains Islam menurut Mehdi Golshani serta mengkaji posisi moderatnya di antara mazhab Islamis dan instrumentalis. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kepustakaan yang dianalisis secara filosofis-komparatif melalui kerangka multidimensi sains. Data diperoleh dari karya-karya utama Golshani dan literatur relevan dalam bidang filsafat ilmu dan sains Islam, kemudian dianalisis melalui proses reduksi, kategorisasi, dan interpretasi tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sains Islam menurut Golshani merupakan sains yang mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai Islam secara selektif pada dimensi metafisika, aspek epistemologis tertentu, teore fundamental, serta orientasi teoretis dan praktis sains. Sementara itu, pada dimensi metodologis dan teore deskriptif, sains tetap bersifat universal dan objektif sehingga tidak memerlukan intervensi nilai agama. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa Golshani menolak dua posisi ekstrem, yaitu islamisasi total sains dan klaim netralitas absolut sains, dengan menawarkan pendekatan integrasi moderat yang bersifat dialogis dan kontekstual. Penelitian ini berkontribusi secara teoretis dalam pengembangan filsafat ilmu Islam melalui model integrasi berbasis dimensi sains, serta secara praktis memberikan dasar konseptual bagi pengembangan kurikulum dan kebijakan pendidikan yang mengintegrasikan agama dan sains secara lebih substantif.
