Abstract

Chemistry Teacher Association of the 5th region in West Sumatera is a discussion media for chemistry teacher in Sijunjung, Sawahlunto, and Darmasraya District. There are 33 Senior High School in these area with 42 members. They have difficulty in implementing Problem Based Learning and Project Based Learning model due to lack of understanding. Some expected competences in the 2013 curriculum require teaching learning process to be conducted by PBL dan PjBL particularly the competences with operational verb “designing and creating”. Moreover, they do not have any teaching material based on PBL and PjBL since these kinds of learning models have to provide contextual problems related to chemisty topics. Students will propose solutions and products, via discussion and project. The training successed in guiding teachers to compile 8 PBL and 6 PjBL learning materials.

Abstract

Perbedaan konsepsi belajar tergantung pada pengalaman belajar kimia yang dirasakan peserta didik. Perbedaan ini semakin tampak ketika peserta didik harus menjalani pembelajaran jarak jauh dikarenakan pandemi. Untuk mengukur perbedaan tersebut, instrumen konsepsi belajar kimia yang terdiri dari 24 item dengan skala likert dikembangkan dan divalidasi oleh para ahli secara konstruk serta secara empiris dengan menerapkan analisis model Rasch menggunakan software WINSTEPS® (versi 3.73). Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengembangkan instrumen konsepsi belajar yang spesifik mengukur konsepsi belajar kimia. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu pengembangan. Populasi penelitian ini sejumlah 247 siswa sekolah menengah atas. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data yaitu survei. Instrument yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data yaitu kuesioner. Kualitas psikometrik kuesioner yang dianalisis meliputi reliabilitas, statistik kesesuaian item, penggunaan skala penilaian, dan bias item terhadap gender (Differential Item Functioning (DIF)).  Teknik yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data yaitu analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model Rasch cocok dengan data pengukuran meliputi reliabilitas person dan item (>0,8). Sembilan belas item memenuhi nilai penerimaan untuk statistik kesesuaian item. Selain itu, kategori pada skala berfungsi dengan baik dan bebas dari ketidakteraturan dari nilai Andrich-Threshold. 2 dari 4 item bias gender kemudian dipertahankan dengan merevisi kuesioner. Disimpulkan bahwa instrumen valid dan dapat digunakan untuk mengukur konsepsi belajar kimia.

Abstract

Educational Chemistry is a material which in its study requires 3 levels of representation known as the triangle, namely macroscopic, submicroscopic and symbolic. At the microscopic level, chemical materials study abstract things such as atoms, molecules, compounds so that they must be a concrete picture to study them. At the symbolic level contains formulas, structures, and reaction equations. Meanwhile, at the macroscopic level it was carried out by means of experiments. However, in its implementation, the experiment requires a long time and complete facilities and infrastructure. So that what happens in the field students only remember and memorize, do not understand and have the ability to think at a high level in accordance with the demands of the 2013 curriculum. There have been many studies that have shown that these learning models are able to improve students' higher order thinking skills (HOTS) and creative thinking. So that the authors make this research into the Development of a Content Learning System (CLS) Flipped Classroom Model Based on Project Base Learning on Quantum Number in 1st Class (X) term to Improve Higher-Level Thinking Ability. This research is a research development (R&D) using the Borg and Gall model.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity and reliability of students' conception of chemistry learning instruments during the Covid-19 pandemic using Rasch modeling. The developed instrument consists of 24 items tested on 150 students from 3 selected schools classes X, XI, and XII MIPA State Senior High School in Tuban Regency for the 2021/2022 academic year. Two experts tested the content validity of the instrument while the construct validity and item reliability used the Rasch model with Winsteps Rasch software version 3.73. The analysis of the Rasch model used is in the form of item and person separation and reliability, correlation and point measure, Item fit, item rating scale functionality and unidimensionality. The results obtained indicate that the conceptual instrument for chemistry learning that has been developed is valid and reliable. However, the COLS4, COLS6, and COLS11 items are invalid and should be revised or removed

Abstract

This study focuses on the development of a POGIL-based experiment manual for general chemistry courses to enhance students' science process skills. The research and development (R&D) method, utilizing the Plomp model, was employed to create a valid and practical manual. Data were collected through a validity and practicality questionnaire, which was then analyzed using the Kappa Cohen's method. The manual's content was found to be highly valid, with an average score of 0.82, while its graphics had an average score of 0.84, also falling within the high category. Practicality was assessed through small group student testing, revealing high practicality scores in terms of user convenience, attractiveness, and benefits, with an average score of 0.77. Overall, the results indicate that the POGIL-based general chemistry experiment manual developed in this study is both valid and practical.

Abstract

Penerapan pembelajaran berkelompok berbantuan LKPD dengan model pembelajaran tertentu belum mampu memaksimalkan keterlibatan dan keaktifan peserta didik selama belajar karena cenderung hanya mengandalkan teman kelompoknya. Penelitian ini dilakukan sebagai upaya memperbaiki kualitas pembelajaran kimia dari segi keaktifan peserta didik melalui penggunaan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Teams Game Tournament (TGT) berbantuan permainan Choose Take Answer (CTA). Penelitian dilakukan terhadap 33 peserta didik kelas X SMA pada bulan Mei selama dua siklus. Setiap siklus meliputi beberapa tahapan yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Setiap rangkaian kegiatan penelitian dilakukan secara kolaboratif bersama dosen pembimbing, guru kimia, dan rekan sejawat. Lembar observasi digunakan untuk mencatat aktivitas belajar peserta didik yang meliputi aktivitas belajar dasar (mengamati, menanya/mencoba, dan mencari) dan aktivitas belajar lanjut (berdialog, mengkomunikasikan, dan berkolaborasi) sebagai indikator keaktifan peserta didik selama tindakan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan keaktifan peserta didik pada pembelajaran kimia pada siklus I sebesar 50,5% (kategori sedang) dan siklus II sebesar 72,1% (kategori sedang). Peningkatan keaktifan terjadi secara signifikan mulai dari sebelum tindakan, tindakan siklus I, hingga tindakan siklus II dengan besar kenaikan dari keadaan awal sebesar 31,8%. Hasil ini menunjukkan keaktifan belajar peserta didik pada pembelajaran kimia dapat ditingkatkan melalui penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif TGT berbantuan permainan CTA, sehingga dapat diterapkan pada pembelajaran di sekolah sebagai alternatif solusi untuk meningkatkan aktivitas peserta didik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengklasifikasikan tiga varietas daun gambir (Uncaria gambir Roxb.), yaitu varietas Udang, Riau, dan Cubadak, yang tumbuh di Sumatera Barat, menggunakan metode spektroskopi Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) dan analisis kemometrik. Spektrum inframerah diperoleh dalam rentang panjang gelombang 4000–500 cm⁻¹. Analisis kemometrik yang digunakan meliputi Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Partial Least Squares Discriminant Analysis (PLS-DA), dan Orthogonal Partial Least Squares Discriminant Analysis (OPLS-DA). Sebelum analisis kemometrik dilakukan, data diproses terlebih dahulu menggunakan metode preprocessing seperti SNV dan MSC untuk meningkatkan akurasi. Hasilnya, PCA mengidentifikasi variabel dominan berdasarkan bilangan gelombang tertentu dengan Q² sebesar 0,91. PLS-DA menunjukkan pemisahan antar varietas dengan Q² sebesar 0,79 setelah preprocessing SNV. Sementara itu, OPLS-DA menghasilkan pemisahan paling jelas di antara tiga varietas dengan Q² sebesar 0,748 setelah preprocessing SNV. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa preprocessing seperti SNV dan Multiplicative Scatter Correction (MSC) meningkatkan akurasi model klasifikasi. Analisis Variabel Importance for Projection (VIP) mengidentifikasi bilangan gelombang 1000 cm⁻¹ sebagai area yang paling signifikan dalam pemisahan varietas. Kombinasi FTIR dan analisis kemometrik terbukti sebagai metode yang cepat, akurat, dan efisien untuk klasifikasi varietas daun gambir. Hasil ini memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan metode kontrol kualitas untuk industri gambir.Kata Kunci: Daun Gambir, Spektroskopi Inframerah, Analisis Kemometrik, PCA, PLS-DA, OPLS-DA

Abstract

The integration of Augmented Reality (AR) into chemistry learning, particularly in acid-base topics, has emerged as a promising innovation to enhance student engagement and understanding. This literature review aims to analyze the effectiveness of AR-based learning in improving student learning outcomes on acid-base material. The study employs a systematic review method by collecting, screening, and analyzing articles published between 2018–2024 from indexed databases such as Scopus, Springer, and Google Scholar. A total of 25 relevant articles were identified and analyzed thematically to assess the impact of AR on cognitive achievement, conceptual understanding, and student motivation. The findings reveal that AR technology not only improves students' conceptual mastery but also reduces misconceptions and supports interactive, immersive learning experiences. Furthermore, AR enhances the visualization of microscopic and abstract acid-base phenomena, which are typically difficult for students to comprehend through conventional instruction. The review concludes that AR is a pedagogical innovation with significant potential to transform acid-base chemistry instruction. Further empirical studies are recommended to explore long-term impacts and classroom integration strategies.

Hasil ini menunjukkan keaktifan belajar peserta didik pada pembelajaran kimia dapat ditingkatkan melalui penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif TGT berbantuan permainan CTA, sehingga dapat diterapkan pada pembelajaran di sekolah sebagai alternatif solusi untuk meningkatkan aktivitas peserta didik.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health issue in Indonesia, including in Padang Pariaman Regency, where the prevalence reached 28.3% in 2021 and declined to 19.4% in 2023. Efforts to prevent stunting require a community-based approach that utilizes local resources, one of which is the nipa palm fruit (Nypa fruticans), known for its high nutritional content and potential as functional food. This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of Posyandu cadres in Nagari Katapiang in processing nipa fruit into nutritious and economically valuable food products. The methods included nutrition education, dissemination of information on nipa fruit potential, and training on appropriate technology for processing nipa into food products such as jam, nuggets, and meatballs. Evaluation was carried out through pre- and post-activity questionnaires. The results showed a significant increase in cadres’ knowledge of nipa’s nutritional content (from 20% to 100%) and health benefits (from 30% to 100%). Perceptions of nipa’s role in stunting prevention also increased from 25% to 95%. Furthermore, practical skills in producing nipa jam improved, where all participants who had never tried before were able to produce processed products after the training. Thus, this PKM activity successfully enhanced the knowledge and practical skills of Posyandu cadres, while demonstrating the potential of nipa fruit as a local food innovation supporting stunting prevention efforts.
