Learning to read is not merely a classroom requirement; it is a skill that empowers individuals, enabling them to navigate the complexities of the world and fostering a lifelong love for learning. The objectives of this research are formulated to investigate the English teacher of perception about cooperative learning. The study employed a case study research approach. A case study is a method used to gain a comprehensive comprehension of a subject or event in an authentic environment. The result study shows that The effectiveness of a teaching method is contingent upon various factors, including the specific context, learning objectives, and the preferences of both teachers and students. While cooperative learning has demonstrated efficacy in numerous scenarios, it is recognized that alternative methods may also be suitable depending on the unique needs and characteristics of the class. This highlights the value of educators being open to exploring and adapting different instructional strategies to best meet the requirements of their students.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the Total Physical Response (TPR) method in improving listening comprehension among second-year students at SMPN 1 Libureng-Bone. Addressing the urgent need for more engaging and effective strategies in English language instruction, this research highlights TPR as a movement-based, learner-centered approach. Using a pre-experimental design with a single-group pre-test and post-test, the study involved 30 randomly selected students from Class VIII.D over eight sessions, including treatment. Findings revealed a substantial increase in students’ direct meaning comprehension scores—from a pre-test mean of 4.05 to a post-test mean of 7.9, reflecting a 93% improvement. These results suggest that TPR significantly enhances listening skills by promoting active participation and cognitive engagement. The study contributes to the growing body of research supporting TPR in EFL contexts and offers practical implications for improving English instruction in Indonesian secondary schools.

Abstract

This study investigates the difficulties encountered by English Education Program graduate students at State University of Makassar when delivering academic oral presentations. The research explores these difficulties from two perspectives: the students' self-reported experiences and how these difficulties are reflected in the written aspects of the presentations. The goal of the research is twofold: to identify the difficulties that hinder students' successful presentations and to develop solutions to improve their oral presentation skills. By understanding the challenges faced by students, educators can develop more effective teaching strategies to address these difficulties. The findings of this research are expected to benefit both English educators and students. Educators will gain insights into the specific challenges faced by their students during academic oral presentations. This knowledge will allow them to tailor their instruction to better prepare students for these presentations. Students will benefit from the development of improved teaching strategies that target their specific areas of difficulty. The research design employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Data will be collected through student surveys, interviews, and analysis of written presentation materials. The surveys will gather data on the students' self-reported difficulties during oral presentations. The interviews will provide a deeper understanding of the students' experiences and perspectives. Finally, analysis of the written presentation materials will allow researchers to examine how these difficulties manifest in the written aspects of the presentations. This study contributes to the existing body of research on the challenges faced by EFL learners in academic settings. By focusing specifically on the difficulties encountered during oral presentations, the research provides valuable insights for educators who are seeking to improve the oral communication skills of their students. The findings of this research can be applied to English language programs at universities around the world, ultimately improving the quality of academic oral presentations delivered by EFL students.

Abstract

Improving farmers’ skills is one of the efforts to increase livestock productivity, which in turn will contribute to fulfilling the community’s need for animal protein and improving the economic conditions of the farmers. Kelompok Tani Ternak Berkah Jaya is a community partner in this flagship community service program located in Tegalsari Village, whose main livelihood is layer poultry farming. Based on a preliminary survey, Kelompok Tani Ternak Berkah Jaya is generally classified as a small-scale or traditional farm that still employs conventional poultry farming methods. Therefore, there is a need for outreach and training on modern layer chicken farming management. The outreach and training activities are expected to improve the farmers’ competencies in managing their poultry businesses. The implementation method of this flagship community service program consisted of three stages: (1) identifying the partner’s needs, (2) providing education on layer farming management and feed formulation training, and (3) conducting evaluations. The program was successfully carried out in Tegalsari Village. The evaluation results showed high enthusiasm from participants, particularly during the discussion sessions. Furthermore, survey results indicated an increase in participants’ knowledge of layer farming management, from 11.76% to 88.23%. The average hen-day production (HDP) over four weeks was 90.28%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that this flagship community service program successfully improved the farmers’ knowledge of layer chicken farming management, including aspects of maintenance, health, and feeding management
