Abstract

Background: The Indonesian Nurse Competency Examination (INCE) is a strategic component that determines the output of nursing graduate students. The varied geographical conditions of the various islands in Indonesia can influence access and quality of education, causing students to have a more inclusive perspective. The learning culture of Indonesian nursing students is unique and generally carries over to higher education, notably nursing profession education. Objective: The purpose of the study is to explain the learning culture model from the perspective of the success of the nurse competency examination and the relationship between learning culture and the success of the nurse competency examination. Methods: A qualitative and quantitative combination research (mixed method) with a sequential-exploratory design was employed. Stage 1 used descriptive qualitative methods. While data collecting used structured interviews, the sampling technique utilized snowball with (n=9), and data analysis used Sandelowski content analysis. Stage 2 was an observational analytical design with a retrospective approach involving 74 nursing students at Wiraraja University who lived in the Indonesian student area. Data analysis then employed the Structural Equation Model (SEM) test to find variables that significantly influence the success of INCE.Results: Stage-1 produced three themes: Theme-1: background of the learning environment concerning facilities utilization and searching strategy for learning resources; Theme-2: learning activities including learning styles, learning motivation, and self-confidence and abilities; Theme-3: learning habits comprising learning methods, concentration, and repeating the learning material. In stage 2, the result revealed that learning environment background (p=0.031), learning activities (p=0.021), and study habits (p=0.028) were significantly related to the success of the INCE on students. Conclusion: The learning culture of Indonesian students from the perspective of success in the INCE is formed starting from the pre-graduate level and continuing at the higher and professional levels.

Abstract

Due to the transition or weaning process and infant feeding patterns, infants under the age of five (IYCF) are susceptible to nutritional problems, especially with regard to food diversity, diet quality, availability, and accessibility. According to fundamental health research, the mother’s capacity to supply nourishment (sources from animal and vegetable protein) and the main meal as an energy source during the first two years of life is associated. Community based case-control study was conducted among children 6-24 month. The study participant used multistage random sampling procedure, with a sample size of 180 mothers who have stunted children. This study used a questionnaire as its data research instrument, which was examined for validity and reliability utilizing data analysis methods like linear regression and SPSS 16.0 statistical software. Factor associated the role of mothers in the feeding of stunted children to nutritional status are age, educational level, occupation, motivation, mobility, decision making, knowledge, self-esteem, self-efficacy, family type, family role, stress of family, coping of family, family social support, weight of birth, responsive feeding. The all of factors can affected roles of mothers in the feeding of stunted children to nutritional status with p-value <0.005. While the child’s age, birth length, breastfeeding, feeding children are not factors associated with the role of mothers in the feeding of stunted children to nutritional status.

Abstract

The blood pressure normally increases in the elderly, making them subject to greater risk of hypertension. This is compounded by poor quality of sleep which leads to a further increase in the blood pressure. The method was analytic correlation using cross sectional design. The population included adults above 45 years old in Tresna Wedha Nursing Home (PSTW) in Pandaan while the sample size of 64 people was determined by Purposive Simple sampling technique. The data analysis was conducted using chi square test. The results of the data analysis using chi square test was statistically significant with p value = 0.003 (p<0.005) which showed a relationship between blood pressure and sleep quality. Irregular sleeping pattern leads to physiological changes and imbalance of homeostasis. The active sympathetic nervous system tends to increase peripheral resistance and cardiac output which results unraised blood pressure.

Abstract

Leprosy is still a health problem in endemic countries, one of which is Indonesia. It is caused by the lack of information about leprosy, which affects the self-care management of leprosy sufferers to increase the risk of leprosy severity. Leprosy is a chronic granular infection caused by the obligate intracellular organism M. leprae. These germs initially attack the peripheral nervous system, then the skin, mucosa, respiratory tract, retinal system, eyes, retina, bones, and tissues. This study aims to determine the relationship of information on self-care management in leprosy patients in the Sumenep Regency. This type of research was an observational analysis using a cross-sectional study approach. The population was 32 respondents, with a sample of 30 respondents. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. Data collection used a questionnaire, and data analysis used Rho Spearman with a significance level of p<0.005. The analysis result obtained significance, or the value of information availability (0.000) was much more standard significant than 0.05 or (p < a), then H0 was rejected, and H1 was accepted, which means that there is a relationship between information and self-care management in leprosy patients. Information can affect self-care management in leprosy patients. Self-care management has an important role in preventing the severity and transmission of leprosy. With enough information, leprosy patients can carry out good self-care- management and reduce the impact of leprosy effectively.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are prevalent in society, especially in Indonesia, including hypertension. The emergence of health problems here is caused by individual negligence, such as unhealthy eating patterns and can also be caused by public ignorance about maintaining health. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of telenursing education on self-care management in hypertension patients in the Manding Health Center work area. The research method used in this study uses quantitative research using design Quasi Experimental, with control group (pretest-posttest with control group design). The sampling method used in this study was simple random sampling. Data collection used a questionnaire with the Borg Scale and Leiceste Cugh Questionnaire instruments. This study began with a pretest then provided telenursing self-care management education once a week for one month in the treatment group and continued with a posttest. The results of this study indicate that there is an influence before and after being given telenursing education on the treatment group. Based on the Wilcoxon test in the treatment group before and after being given education, p = 0.000 (p <α) was obtained, which means that there is an influence of Telenursing Self Care Management Education on Self Care Management in hypertension patients. Seeing the results of this study, it is recommended for hypertension sufferers to pay more attention to their health and carry out all components of hypertension control in a disciplined manner.

Abstract

Background: Culture Inability has an affect on the comes about of care, this may be done to supply consideration and welfare for the elderly. The marvel of inborn coastal communities with special traditions whose day by day propensities begin resting within the sand, playing within the sand, splashing on the shoreline, and giving birth within the sand. When the elderly sleep well on the sand and the HPA axis is suppressed, there is a decrease in ACTH and cortisol. Purpose: Decrease ACTH and cortisol, stimulate POMC synthesis, and increase production of β endorphins that prevents the release of substance P as a key factor in the transmission of pain signals. Methods: The study uses a quasi-experimental pre-post test control group design and includes a total of 82 elderly individuals aged 60-74 years, who experience osteoarthritis pain. The sample is divided into two groups, an experimental group of 41 individuals who sleep on the sand, and a control group of 41 individuals who sleep on mattresses. The implementation of sleeping on the sand was carried out for 30 days with a duration of 6-7 hours a day. data analysis with wilcoxon test and mann whitney test. Results: The results show that there is a significant difference with p-value (<0.05) of post-test measurements on the thirtieth day on the variable β-endorphine level and pain scale. The intervention group showed difference between the pre-test and post-test after the intervention was given, with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05). Conclusion: The study concludes that sleeping on sand is an effective non-pharmacological therapy that can increase β-endorphin levels and reduce osteoarthritis pain in coastal elderly individuals. Transcultural nursing is able to maintain healthy behavior or sick behavior physically and psychoculturally according to cultural background. The study highlights the importance of considering the cultural background of the clients while providing nursing care.
