Abstract

Biodiversity of macrozoobenthos in Pasir Island, Brebes, is under-explored. On the other hand, the baseline information regarding macrozoobenthos is essentially required for better future environmental management. This research aims to analyze macrozoobenthos community structure in the Pasir Island that has not been documented. Surveys were carried out in the rainy season. In this study, a total of 10 sampling locations were classified into two different groups that represent “control” and “disturbed” station. The main structural parameters of the macrozoobenthos identified at each station were specific richness (S), abundance (number of individuals m-2, N) and the Pielou’s index (J). Additionally, the pairwise comparison between groups was conducted by using analysis of similarity (ANOSIM) and the similarity percentage (SIMPER) to obtain the description of community structure. A total of 1054 specimens were counted from the “control” and “disturbed” stations. These specimens belonged to five animal classes, namely, Bivalvia, Gastropoda, Malacostraca, Cephalopoda and Echinoidea. ANOSIM and SIMPER analysis demonstrated that a significant difference was found between “control“ and  “disturbed“ stations with the percentage of dissimilarity value of 88.82%. In addition, environmental variables such pH, salinity and type of substrates contributed significantly to this difference. This result provides insight regarding macrozoobenthos diversity and ecological information that may contribute to further conservation management in the Pasir Island, Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the condition of coral reef (life coral), the abundance of reef target fishes, and the corellation between those two variables. This research has been conducted in Tinabo Besar Island with 6 sampling stations in 5-6 meter depth. Data collected are substrate cover precentage (life form), and the number of reef target fish appeared from 7 specified families (Serranidae, Lutjanidae, Haemulidae, Lethrinidae, Scaridae, Siganidae, and Acanthuridae) using Underwater Photo Transect (UPT) and Underwater Visual Census (UVC). Substrate cover analyzed using CPCe software with life coral, dead coral, algae, abiotic, and other biota cover output. Mortality Index (MI) obtained from the ratio of life coral and dead coral. The result shows that percentage of life coral coverlie between 11.87% to 38.80%, with dominance of Coral Masive (CM). It’s mean that the coral reef condition is in poor to moderate category. Coral death ratio is low with MI between 0.15 to 0.30. Reef target fish total abundance is 493 individual/2100m2 from 31 species, with dominance from Lutjanidae family (173 individual). The result shows positive and strong enough correlation between coral reef coverage and reef target fish abundance (r=0.65) with Determinantion Coefficient at 42.55%. Linear regression is y=-12.929+3.7562x, where in every addition of coral reef cover percentage, resulted in addition of 4 fishes.Keyword: life coral, abundance, reef target fish, correlation, Tinabo Besar Island

Abstract

This research focuses on exchange rate fluctuations in Indonesia during the period of 2005 to 2023, influenced by various economic factors, primarily monetary policy and international trade dynamics. Exchange rate instability is a major concern because it can impact the national economy, including export competitiveness and macroeconomic stability. Consequently, the purpose of this research is to dissect the relationship between interest rates, export values, and wide money as it pertains to currency swings. This study takes a quantitative approach by analyzing the relationship between the dependent and independent variables via multiple linear regression. World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and Statistics Indonesia yearly time series data from 2005 to 2023 is used. The findings show that broad money, interest rates, and export values significantly impact the swings in the Indonesian currency. According to the findings of the multiple linear regression analysis, Interest rates and broad money have a positive and statistically significant effect on changes in exchange rates, but export values have a negative and statistically significant effect. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of appropriate interest rate policies and balanced broad money management to maintain exchange rate stability. Future researchers are advised to include global variables and more complex analysis methods.

Abstract

This study evaluates the factors that influence the broad money of five ASEAN countries. Global economic uncertainty due to financial crises, geopolitical conflicts and pandemics has affected the region's economic stability. Central banks have a role in controlling broad money through monetary policy, but its effectiveness is affected by other factors such as GDP, interest rates and inflation. Moreover, the relationship between GDP growth, inflation, and interest rates with broad money is a major concern, as the trend of broad money growth in the 5 ASEAN countries continues to increase every year. The balance between broad money and price stability is crucial to prevent economic stress that could lead to a recession. Therefore, this study focuses on an in-depth analysis of the factors that influence money supply to help the government make decisions. The research sample consists of 100 data with five ASEAN countries, namely Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia with a time series of 2004-2023. This methodology uses a mixed approach, namely quantitative with secondary data from the World Bank & IMF with LSDV analysis. It was found that the adjusted r square value was 97%, which means that GDP, interest rates, and inflation used were able to explain the money supply of 5 ASEAN countries by 97% and 3% was influenced by other factors outside this study. GDP was found to have no significant effect while interest rates have a significant negative effect and inflation has a significant positive effect on the broad money of 5 ASEAN countries. The government is expected to better analyze the policies and actions taken, such as managing monetary policy wisely, especially in maintaining the stability of inflation and interest rates so that the money supply can be well controlled.

Abstract

The problem of stunting in Indonesia, especially in Jeneponto Regency, is a major challenge that affects the quality of human resources (HR). This study aims to identify internal and external environmental conditions that affect the prevalence of stunting in Jeneponto Regency, as well as to formulate and determine priority strategies in local government efforts to reduce stunting rates. This type of research is quantitative descriptive, with a population of 383 people. The research sample consisted of 80 randomly selected respondents, as well as 7 expert respondents who had in-depth knowledge of stunting issues in the area. The data analysis technique used was SWOT analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, as well as the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method with the help of the Expert Choice application to determine the most appropriate and relevant priority strategies. The results of the study showed that the local government's strategy in reducing the prevalence of stunting was in Quadrant I (Growth-Oriented Strategy). These results indicate that the stunting reduction program is in a fairly advantageous position by utilizing internal strengths as basic capital and available external opportunities. The alternative strategic priorities produced are community empowerment through education on the use of PKH assistance and other social assistance, as well as combining stunting reduction programs with family welfare improvement programs through economic empowerment, nutritious food processing training, and increasing access to easily accessible health facilities
