Abstract

Many attempts have been made to shape the character of students, but not all of them have yielded satisfactory results. This article aims to investigate how dayah, an Islamic boarding school in Aceh, Indonesia, shapes the character of students. It involved three leading dayah in Aceh namely Dayah Darul Munawwarah in Pidie Jaya District, Dayah Babussalam Al-Hanafiyyah in North Aceh District, and Dayah Darul Ihsan in Aceh Besar District. The data for this qualitative study was collected through participant observation and in-depth interviews with twelve key informants. Then, qualitative descriptive techniques were used to analyze the data. The results showed that students at these educational institutions have characters that are beneficial to citizens such as mutual respect, frugality, discipline, critical thinking, and being protected from bad habits. These characters were formed by a number of treatments and conditions experienced by students while studying in dayah. Apart from interacting with dayah students, teachers, and employees, dayah students also interact with the community which allows them to gain access to the real world and directly confront community problems. This finding leads to some suggestions for teachers, educational institutions, and policymakers to adopt the education system practiced by dayah in shaping student characters.

Abstract

The global world has implications for the emergence of various contemporary problems and demands legal certainty for every Islamic legal issue. This research aims to examine Baḥtsul Masāil in Dayah as a traditional Islamic educational institution in Aceh, especially its contribution in responding to developments in contemporary Islamic law. This research uses a qualitative-normative method with a sociological approach to Islamic law. Data was obtained through interviews, observation and document study. The informants interviewed were Tengku Dayah in Aceh, observing the activities of Baḥtsul Masāil and the documents studied were journal articles, textbooks and books. The research results show that teungku dayah is able to answer contemporary Islamic law problems through Baḥtsul Masāil. This activity took the form of a focus group discussion involving professional staff from Islamic boarding schools and discussed various current issues from a legal perspective. In Baḥtsul Masāil uses the method of ilhaq and contextualization of the turats text. Ilhaq is achieved by equating law with problems that have not been answered by Islamic texts with problems that have been answered by Islamic texts, while contextualization of Islamic texts is achieved by interpreting Islamic texts in a contemporary context. The results of Baḥtsul Masāil are then disseminated to the community through community learning processes, recitations, or religious lectures. Thus, in terms of the sociology of Islamic law, Teungku Dayah and Dayah educational institutions as actors are able to contribute to contemporary Islamic problems and the problem of the vacuum of Islamic law in society can be overcome.

Abstract

Artikel ini menjelaskan bagaimana pendidikan Santri Dayah di Aceh memberikan keseimbangan antara penerapan akal dan wahyu. Keseimbangan ini, yang menjadi landasan bagi pertumbuhan di masa depan, bertujuan untuk mendorong “moderasi beragama” dalam pendidikan dayah, atau “Islam Wasathiyah.” Islam Wasathiyah didasarkan pada gagasan untuk mencapai keseimbangan di segala bidang. Penyelidikan utama berkaitan dengan cara pengalaman pendidikan siswa Dayah menggunakan akal dan wahyu sebagai sarana untuk menunjukkan keseimbangan ini. Esai ini menggali pertanyaan ini secara mendalam. Dalam penelitian kualitatif ini wawancara merupakan sumber data primer, dan observasi serta dokumentasi merupakan sumber data sekunder. Delapan orang Guru Besar Dayah menjadi sumber informasi utama. Subjek penelitian utama adalah Dayah Mishrul Huda Malikussaleh di Banda Aceh, Dayah Babussalam Al-Aziziyah di Bireuen, dan Dayah Babussalam Al-Hanafiyyah di Aceh Utara. Data yang telah dikumpulkan dijelaskan secara deskriptif. Temuannya menunjukkan bahwa santri Dayah secara konsisten menjaga keseimbangan yang sehat antara wahyu dan akal dalam mengejar ilmu aqidah, fiqh, dan tasawuf. Harmoni ini menunjukkan komitmen Dayah dalam menjunjung tinggi model pendidikan Islam Wasathiyah sebagaimana sekolah Islam konvensional di Aceh dalam seluruh proses pembelajarannya. Menemukan paradigma pembelajaran ideal yang berhasil memadukan akal dan wahyu menjadi tujuan penelitian ini.

Abstract

AbstractThis study discusses the role of the Formal Diniyah Education program in improving the quality of traditional dayah education in Aceh. The study using a qualitative approach. The data were obtained through observation, documentation, and semi-structured interview with Diniyah Institution’s managers in Dayah Babussalam. The data collected were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the presence of the Formal Diniyah Education program was a solution for Dayah Babussalam to improve the quality of her education. In practice, the presence of the Formal Diniyah Education program makes the existing traditional curriculum more developed. In addition, with the Imtiḥan Waṭoni (IW) examination, the quality of students also increases. Likewise, the presence of the Formal Diniyah Education program has also made modern education management integrated with Dayah Babussalam. The motivation of students to study in the dayah is also increasing where the Formal Diniyah Education diploma is very effective in "binding" the students to stay and endure in the dayah. Meanwhile, the challenge faced is the lack of expert teachers in teaching subjects in the Formal Diniyah Education curriculum.AbstrakPenelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan tujuan membahas peran program Pendidikan Diniyah Formal (PDF) dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan dayah tradisional di Aceh. Data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui observasi, dokumentasi serta wawancara semi terstruktur dengan pengelola PDF di Dayah Babussalam. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hadirnya program PDF menjadi solusi bagi Dayah Babussalam dalam upaya peningkatan mutu pendidikannya. Dalam pelaksanaannya, kehadiran program PDF membuat kurikulum tradisional yang sudah lebih dahulu ada menjadi lebih berkembang. Selain itu, dengan soal Imtiḥan Waṭani (IW) atau ujian nasional PDF yang berbahasa Arab membuat kualitas santri juga meningkat. Begitu juga, kehadiran program PDF juga membuat terintegrasinya manajemen pendidikan modern di Dayah Babussalam. Motivasi santri untuk belajar di dayah juga semakin meningkat dimana ijazah formal PDF ini sangat efektif “mengikat” para santri untuk bertahan di dayah. Sementara tantangan yang dihadapi yaitu kurangnya guru pakar dalam mengajarkan mata pelajaran dalam kurikulum PDF.

Abstract

Drugs continue to be a hot issue discussed in society, this is due to the increase in cases of drug users that continue to increase every year. This situation is very worrying considering the many negative impacts caused by drugs, both physically and psychologically. In addition, the impact reaped is not only for users, but also causes various criminal acts such as theft, robbery, fraud, and so on. The purpose of this article is to find out the condition of drug users, the form of rehabilitation, obstacles and solutions in the rehabilitation process of drug users through the Muzakarah Resident Recovery program at Pintu Hijrah Orphanage in Banda Aceh. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques used were observation, interview, and documentation. Respondents in this study amounted to 21 people, 4 orphanage administrators and 17 drug users. The results showed that the condition of drug users in Pintu Hijrah Orphanage Banda Aceh was at mild and moderate levels. The rehabilitation process carried out in the form of individual rehabilitation and group rehabilitation. The obstacle found is the lack of openness in conveying the circumstances experienced by drug users. The quick solution taken is to educate and motivate the drug users. Abstrak Narkoba terus menjadi isu hangat yang diperbincangkan dalam masyarakat, hal ini dikarenakan peningkatan kasus pengguna narkoba yang terus meningkat setiap tahunnya. Keadaan ini sangat mengkhawatirkan mengingat banyak dampak negatif yang ditimbulkan oleh narkoba, baik secara fisik maupun psikis. Di samping itu, dampak yang dituai tidak hanya bagi pengguna saja, akan tetapi menimbulkan berbagai tindak kriminal seperti pencurian, perampokan, penipuan, dan sebagainya. Tujuan dari kajian artikel ini adalah untuk mengetahui kondisi pengguna narkoba, bentuk rehabilitasi, kendala dan solusi dalam proses rehabilitasi pengguna narkoba melalui program Muzakarah Resident Pemulihan yang ada di Panti Pintu Hijrah Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan yakni observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Responden dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 21 orang, 4 orang pengurus panti dan 17 orang pengguna narkoba. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi pengguna narkoba yang ada di Panti Pintu Hijrah Banda Aceh berada di tingkat ringan dan sedang. Proses rehabilitasi yang dijalankan berupa rehabilitasi individu dan rehabilitasi kelompok. Adapun kendala yang ditemukan adalah kurangnya keterbukaan dalam menyampaikan keadaan yang dialami pengguna narkoba. Solusi cepat yang diambil adalah dengan melakukan edukasi dan motivasi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi implementasi Program Diniyah di SD Negeri 51 Banda Aceh, yang bertujuan untuk memperkuat Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) melalui pembelajaran kitab Arab-Melayu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif, dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman agama dan karakter siswa, dengan skor ujian, pemahaman akhlak, dan keterampilan tajwid yang meningkat. Namun, tantangan utama yang dihadapi meliputi ketidaksiapan sistem dan sumber daya manusia dalam mengintegrasikan kitab Arab-Melayu ke dalam pembelajaran. Mayoritas guru tidak memiliki latar belakang pendidikan khusus dalam aksara Arab-Melayu, serta kesulitan dalam memahami bahasa Melayu klasik yang digunakan dalam kitab. Selain itu, kurangnya perangkat ajar yang sesuai dan media pembelajaran digital memperburuk situasi. Meskipun sekolah telah menerapkan strategi seperti pelatihan guru dan metode pembelajaran interaktif, solusi yang ada masih bersifat reaktif dan belum menyentuh aspek strategis jangka panjang. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting dalam memahami kompleksitas pelaksanaan Program Diniyah dan menawarkan rekomendasi untuk pengembangan kebijakan pendidikan di Aceh.

Abstract

This study described the religious attitudes influenced by the Jawi Script upon people living in the Seulimeum Subdistrict of Aceh Besar District, Indonesia. The data for this qualitative study were gathered through interviews and observations that included three activities: behavioral observation, direct questioning, and direct disclosure. A checklist and field notes accompanied observations, while direct questioning and direct disclosure involved unstructured interviews with eight respondents. The data was then qualitatively analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. The study's findings suggested that the Jawi script instructional process had influenced respondents’ religious attitudes toward aqidah, ibadah, morals, and social society. In the field of aqidah, Jawi script instructional process strengthened the aqidah that adheres to the creed of Ahlusunnah wal Jama’ah. They also rejected another aqidah, armed with knowledge from the Jawi Script. Religious attitudes also were reflected in ibadah activities under the knowledge learned from the Shafi'i school of thought's Jawi Script. Regarding morals and social society, Jawi script instructional process strengthened husband-wife relationships, strengthened social traditions with Islamic nuances, and fostered social unity.
