Abstract

The hadith concerning triple divorce in a single pronouncement is one of the legal hadiths that has generated differing views among Islamic scholars. During the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Abu Bakr, and the early caliphate of ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, such a pronouncement was considered as a single divorce. However, ʿUmar later ruled that it should be counted as three, as a form of contextual ijtihād. This study aims to examine the hadith using Fazlur Rahman’s “double movement” approach, which emphasizes the importance of understanding the historical context of the text while applying the universal ethical values of Islam to contemporary situations. Through this approach, it is found that Islamic law is not static, but open to reform as long as it aligns with the fundamental moral principles of Islam. Fazlur Rahman views this hadith as evidence of the flexibility of Islamic law, which can adapt to the social and moral needs of the community. This study recommends an ethical and historical approach to interpreting legal hadiths in order to produce religious practices that are both relevant and just.

Abstract

Hadith learning in traditional Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) tends to rely on the sorogan and bandongan methods. While these have limitations in developing students' critical analysis skills and digital literacy. IBS PKMKK addresses this challenge through the One Hadith One Presentation program, which integrates traditional approaches with modern learning methods. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the One Hadith One Presentation program at IBS PKMKK, focusing on the curriculum design, the resulting learning model, and its contribution to strengthening students' hadith literacy competence. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews with the IBS PKMKK leadership and teaching staff, and documentation studies. The findings indicate that this program not only enhances students' comprehensive understanding of hadith but also provides a distinct learning experience, strengthens academic literacy skills, trains scientific communication skills, and facilitates the integrative character building of the students. Overall, the One Hadith One Presentation program can be an effective, integrative, and relevant model for hadith learning in the context of modern pesantren. The program successfully developed an integrative hadith learning model through seven educational pillars, encompassing digital presentation activities, creative visualization, and thematic studies. The program represents an effective pedagogical innovation in transforming hadith learning from a memorization-based approach towards independent knowledge construction. It not only strengthens students' multiliteracy competencies but also serves as a model for the convergence between pesantren traditions and the demands of modern education.

Abstract

This article aims to explain the trends in national and international scientific publications in the field of hadith and hadith science in Indonesia, both in terms of publishing journals and articles published in those journals. Essentially, the study material in scientific publications in the field of hadith and hadith science, both nationally and internationally, can be viewed from two perspectives: riwayah studies and dirayah studies. Both have their own trends, although dirayah studies are more widely published in national and international journals. To further develop scientific publications in the field of hadith and hadith science, it is important to pay attention to current trends in Indonesian scientific publications. This should be developed using strategies proposed by experts, including those proposed in this study. All obstacles, especially internal and external ones, must be overcome through various means, involving relevant parties.
