Abstract

Coal is a non-renewable energy resource that has been the main source of energy and the most important in the world. Resource coal plays a strategic role in economic and social development in many industrialized countries [3, 4, 6]. Coal mining activities may cause a series of environmental and socio-economic issues in communities around the mining area. Mining can become an obstacle to environmental sustainability and a major hidden danger to the security of the local ecology [3, 4, 6]. Therefore, the coal mining industry should follow some specific principles and factors in achieving sustainable development. These factors include geological conditions, land use, mining technology, environmental sustainability policies and government regulations, socio-economic factors, as well as sustainability optimization for postmining land use. Resources of the remains of the coal which is defined as the last remaining condition of the resources and reserves of coal when the coal companies have already completed the life of the mine [1, 2, 5] or the expiration of the licensing contract (in accordance with government permission). This research uses approch of knowledge-driven GIS based methods mainly Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy logic for utilizing coal remaining resources and post-mining land use planning. The mining area selected for this study belongs to a PKP2B (Work Agreement for Coal Mining) company named Adaro Indonesia (PT Adaro).

Abstract

Almost geological data variable contain some degree of uncertainty. Most decisions in mineral exploration was based on geological reports, measurements, calculations as well as ignorance of the geological uncertainty underlies all natural risks of the exploration effort. Risks affecting mineral exploration activities, among others caused by several things. Inherent natural variability in the process of geology and geological objects. Uncertainty on the conceptual and models, associated with incomplete knowledge and subjective interpretations of processes and geological objects. Errors can also occur when observing, measuring or evaluating samples or mathematical analysis of geological data. Data from exploration activities, can be grouped into two types of data, namely quantitative data (e g; grade) and qualitative data (geological data). Geological data variables still largely a qualitative data, resulting between some geologists are not infrequent errors of judgment (assessment of subjective data). This leads to misinterpretation of results of exploration that will ultimately impact on the exploration risk assessment. Currently, the quantification of qualitative data variable is one parameter which is becoming a necessity, because it will be easier in terms of interpretation, communication and measurable. Porphyry Cu - Au deposit in the Randu Kuning Prospect, Wonogiri has the characteristic geometry and grade distribution are quite complex. It is characterized by the appearance of some kind of vein and stockwork with different characteristics. Quantification of geological variables will result in a value that allows the quantification in quantifying exploration risk. For quantitative variables data (grade) using geostatistical methods, while for qualitative variables geological data using canonical correlation and multivariable regression.

Abstract

There are many Artisanal Small scales Gold Mine (ASGM) in Indonesia, one of them is epithermal gold ore at Paningkaban, Banyumas District, Central Java Province. The activity has been for about twenty years. The existence of ASGM at Paningkaban still takes place until now. It can be an indicator that they are still many gold resources. The aim of the research is the analysis of Au grade and other metal, such as Cu, Ag, Pb, As, Zn and Hg. The research methods are literature study from previous research, field work, laboratory work, and interpretation. The literature study comes from previous research at the location. The field work comprised direct observation and taking the sample of gold ore/vein in the location of research. Fieldwork is done for a week to obtain gold ore/ vein. The sixteenth samples were analyzed to obtain ore/metal grades. The fifth of the highest Au grade were conducted Hg laboratory analysis. Laboratory works conducted at Intertek Jakarta using Fire Assay (FA) for Au grade, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) for Cu, Ag, Pb, As, Zn and Hg. Results of the analysis were variety wide range grade of Au, i.e. 0.266 – 76 ppm. The wide range grade of Cu is 42-1230 ppm, 30- >4000 ppm of Pb, 74->10,000 ppm of Zn, <1-34 ppm of Ag, <40-550 ppm of As, and <0.01-0.16 ppm, respectively.

Abstract

This paper is intended to describe an preliminary study of geological setting and gold mineralization hosted by metamorphic rocks in the southeastern arm of Sulawesi. The stratigraphy consists of three constituent rocks are continental terrain composed of metamorphic rocks, ophiolite complex are dominated by mafic and ultramafic rocks and Sulawesi Molasse composed of clastic sediments and carbonate. The origin of gold mineralization at Mendoke and Rumbia mountains only preliminary studies. A field study indicates that the Langkowala placer/paleoplacer gold is possibly related to gold-bearing quartz veins hosted by metamorphic rocks particularly mica schist, phyllite and metasediments in the area. These quartz veins are currently recognized in metamorphic rocks at Wumbubangka Mountains, a northern flank of Rumbia Mountain Range. At least, there are three generations of the quartz veins. The first generation of quartz vein is parallel to foliation of mica schist, phyllites and metasediments in up to 10 m wide zones. The second quartz vein generation crosscut the first quartz vein and the foliation of the wallrock. The third is of laminated deformed quartz-calcite veins at the late stage. The first veins are mostly massive to crystalline, occasionally brecciated and sigmoidal, whereas the second veins are narrower than the first and relatively brecciated. Gold grades in the second and third veins are relatively higher than that in first veins. The similar quartz veins types are also probably present in Mendoke mountain range, in the northern side of Langkowala area. The wallrock are generally weakly altered. Alteration types include argillic, silification, carbonate and carbonization alteration. This primary gold deposit is called as orogenic gold type and product of hydrothermal activity. The orogenic gold deposit is one of the new target of gold exploration are being developed in Indonesia.
