Abstract

PT.XYZ is an automotive company that produces various automotive components, one of which is the body reinforcement frame (Reinforce). The problem that arises occurs in the posture of workers who are not ergonomic in the painting process. This can lead to MSDs disease in the spine. The purpose of this research is to minimize the waste motion experienced by painting operators. The method used to minimize waste motion is Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA). From the results of this study obtained a REBA score of 7 which is classified as medium risk, to reduce the REBA score we propose designing a tool in the form of a painting table.

Abstract

Pallet Delivery Design at PT. XYZ is intended to overcome operator working posture problems in the manual process of tying boxes with ropes, so as to reduce complaints of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) in operators. Analysis of MSDs complaints was carried out by distributing the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire to three workers with the results that they experienced complaints of calf, back and knee pain. Based on the results of the Nordic Body Map questionnaire, a Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) analysis was carried out, namely to assess the level of risk. In the initial assessment, REBA produced a score of 9 which indicates a high risk with the use of the tool used. To find out the specifications of the tool to be designed, it is done by measuring the operator's anthropometric data, followed by product design using the Need, Idea, Decision, and Action (NIDA) method as a design approach and the next stage is simulated in CATIA software to confirm risk reduction. The design simulation shows a decrease in the REBA value from 9 to 2, thereby reducing the risk of MSDs for workers.

Abstract

Abstract

Inadequate or delayed supply of raw materials or components needed for production can lead to line stoppages. Reducing the frequency and duration of line stoppages is crucial for maintaining efficiency and meeting production targets. It can happen due to logistics problemsThis research was conducted in the logistics department of an automotive component company. One of the causes is the procurement of tooling, which needs to be improved for production needs. The tooling factor is part of the logistics scope and is the highest factor causing lost opportunities and line stoppages. To minimize the impact of line production stoppages, manufacturers often implement strategies like implementing a minimum stock of insert components. The problem-solving methodology includes a five whys analysis, conducting a Pareto diagram, determining the service level of the stock level, and calculating the maximum-minimum stock level. Based on the result, 17 types of inserts must apply stock levels to avoid stock shortages.

Abstract

Choosing better organic solvents and providing appropriate mixing ratios for thinner in the automotive paint industry. The research objects were true solvents, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, and acetone; alcohol cosolvents are isopropyl alcohol, isobutyl alcohol; and non-solvents are n-heptane, propylene glycol, and mineral spirits. Adhesion and coating thickness by spray paint and turbidity of thinner were performed. The thinner dissolving rate was evaluated by immersing coated galvalume plates (50 mm × 50 mm × 0.4 mm) into thinner and recording the time required to dissolve the paint. Thinner testing was conducted using a spray method at 17 cm distance and 90° angle, with coating thickness measured by coating thickness gauge and adhesion evaluated using the ASTM D3359 tape test. The best Performance was observed in the 5:3:3 composition (EA:IPA:MS), which achieved a 5B adhesion rating and a coating thickness of 60.7 µm. This ratio also had the lowest turbidity value (0.11 ± 0.02 NTU). Based on the capability plot analysis, this composition demonstrated high process capability (Cp = 3.06; Cpk = 2.52), confirming its suitability as the optimal formulation for automotive thinner applications.
