Abstract

Pacific white shrimp Litopenaus vannamei is one of the fishery export commodities. The problem with vanameshrimp cultivation in Indonesia is the high price of feed. One natural and environmentally friendly ingredient that canincrease feed efficiency and growth of vaname shrimp is Cinnamomum burmani. The active ingredient cinnamaldehydecontent in cinnamon can increase the utilization of carbohydrates as an energy source. This research aims to obtain the bestdose of cinnamon extract for digestibility, growth, and survival of vaname shrimp. The experimental design used aCompletely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 cinnamon extract treatment doses (0 ml/kg, 1 ml/kg, 2 ml/kg, 3ml/kg, and 4 ml/kg). The container used is an aquarium measuring 60 cm × 40 cm × 40 cm and filled with seawater. Thesize of the vaname shrimp used is ±2.5 g. The results showed that the performance parameters of digestibility, growth, andsurvival of shrimp fed with cinnamon extract showed significantly different results (p<0.05). The best dose of cinnamonextract was 3 ml/kg feed.

Abstract

White shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is one of the economically important shrimp that has several advantages including tolerance of water conditions, can grow quickly, and thick flesh. One of the problems in white shrimp cultivation is the slow growth of white shrimp due to inappropriate feed management. The addition of grampositive bacteria to the feed is scientifically believed to increase the growth of white shrimp. Among the grampositive bacteria that are commonly added to white shrimp aquaculture activities, namely Lactobacillus sp., this bacterium has many advantages for the survival of white shrimp in aquaculture activities. The addition of Lactobacillus sp. can increase the digestibility of feed due to simplification of complex proteins into simpler proteins so that the feed is easily absorbed by white shrimp. The results obtained from the administration of Lactobacillus sp. bacteria in the feed were getting very good growth results, the growth results from the lowest to the highest were A1 = 23.8 grams/head, A2=28.1 gram/head, A3=24.3 gram/head, A4=22.1 gram/head, A5=22.4 gram/head, A6=18.8 gram/head.

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of indigofera leaves meal hydrolysate (ILMH) on growth Leptobarbus hoevenii growth. This study employed five dietary treatments with varying levels of ILMH. Cellulase enzymes were used to hydrolyze Indigofera leaf meal, which was then combined with other feed ingredients. Three replicates of feed without ILMH, 10% ILMH, 20% ILMH, 30% ILMH, and 35% ILMH were included in the treatment-examination feed. Average initial fish weight was 1.27±0.01 g, and initial length was 4.28±0.07 cm. Weight observation was also conducted every two weeks. After six weeks of rearing, survival, final biomass, specific growth rate, and feed efficiency  were observed. At the beginning and the end of maintenance, temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen measurements were taken to determine the water's quality. Results that that the utilization of ILMH in L. hoevenii feed could substitute the use of soybean meal for 10-35% of the feed. Among all treatments, 10% ILMH-containing feed resulted in the highest growth and feed efficiency. This treatment had a 100% survival rate, a 1.78±0.05% specific growth rate, and a 53.28 ± 1.59% feed efficiency. According to the findings of this study, the utilization of 10% hydrolysate of indigofera leaf meal in feed was effective in enhancing L. hoevenii’s growth performance.  Keywords: Efficiency, indigofera leaves, Leptobarbus hoevenii, hydrolysate, growth

Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) seeds is one of the fishery products that is in great demand by the public. National tilapia production increases every year. Transporting seeds is what determines success in maintaining survival during the transportation process. However, the transportation process can cause the fish to become stressed and vulnerable to death. This problem can be prevented by stunning the fish first. Anesthesia is carried out with the aim of extending transportation time by suppressing the fish's metabolic activity. The organic ingredient that can be used as an anesthetic is clove oil. Clove oil contains eugenol which can be used as an anesthetic for fish. The aim of this activity is to see the effectiveness of clove oil as an anesthetic agent in closed system transportation of tilapia seeds. The method used was 135 animals/treatment using 3 treatments and 1 control. Doses K (0.0%), A (0.25%), B (0.30%), and C (0.35%) with 3 repetitions. The experimental results showed that the highest survival value was in A 0.25% (2.5ml/l) with 90%, while the lowest survival value was in the C treatment with a survival value of 57.50%. The longest fish fainting time was in the C treatment with the fish fainting time being 120.2 minutes, while in B the fish fainting time was 107.7 minutes. The best effective dose used as an anesthetic in the process of transporting tilapia fry measuring 5-7 cm is 0.25% (2.5ml/l).
