Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of celery (Apium graveolens L.) leaves infusion on blood cholesterol levels in male rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by alloxan. The sample used in this study were 25 white male rats Wistar strained aged 3-4 months with a bodyweight of 150-200 grams. The design used are were unidirectional pattern of completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 5 replications. Treatment 1 (P1) rats  were given with the standard feed. Treatment 2 (P2),rats  were induced by alloxan. Treatment 3 (P3) rats were induced by alloxan and given 2 ml of 5% celery leaf infusion therapy. Treatment 4 (P4) rats  were induced by alloxan and given 2 ml of 10% celery leaf infusion therapy. Treatment 5 (P5) rats  were induced by alloxan and given 2 ml of 15% celery leaf infusion therapy. Celery leaf infusion was given every morning and evening. Administration of  alloxan with a single dose of 150 mg / kg in  IP and celery leaf infusion therapy were given for 14 days. Rat blood cholesterol levels checked using the CHOD-PAP. Data were analyzed using ANOVA completely randomized design. Mean (± SD) of cholesterol in treatment P1, P2, P3, P4 and P5 sequence was 52.8 ± 9.09; 50.4 ± 18.53; 42.6 ± 4.51; 40.2 ± 52.8 ± 7.19 and 2.39. The results showed that the infusion of celery leaves was not showing any effect (P 0.05) on blood cholesterol levels of white male rats induced by alloxan. Administration of celery leaves (Apium graveolens L.) infusion for 14 days with a concentration of 5%, 10% and 15% have no effect on blood cholesterol levels in male rats induced by alloxan.

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the effect of Moringa leaves infuse toward the haemoglobin levels of broiler chickens. This study used 21 broiler chickens which divided into three groups and each group consisting of 7 broiler chickens. The treatment group (P0) were given only mineral water (aquadest), the treatment group (P1) were given moringa leaves infuse with a concentration of 10 % and treatment group (P2) infusion were given moringa leaves with a concentration of 20 %. The given of Moringa leaves infuse was starting at seven days old of chickens and given for 28 days continously as a drinking water.  The chickens were feed by ad libitum during the research. After the treatment completion, a researcher carried out a blood sampling via the axillary vein.  Data were analyzed with ANOVA by Complete Random Design one way and Tukey test to determine a difference between the treatments of each group. The research results showed that ± SD haemoglobin (g / dl) in the group (P0) 7.71 ± 1.13, (P1) of 8.15 ± 1.95 and (P2) 10.8 ± 1.76. Statistical analysis showed the treatment effect (P 0.05) of the haemoglobin levels of broiler chickens. The Tukey test results of the treatment group (P0) were significantly different (P 0.05) with treatment group (P2), but not significantly different (P 0.05) with treatment group (P1). The treatment group (P2) were significantly different (P 0.05) with treatment group (P1). From the results of this research, it was concluded that infuse Moringa leaves can improve haemoglobin levels of broiler chicken.

Abstract

The aims of this research was looked to determine the healing process of burns  Grade II B using a mixture of fresh and dried leaf kedondong with vaseline white rats (Rattus norvegicus). Animals used were 18 rats. This study was designed using three treatment groups namely (KI) vaseline, (KII) mixture of crushed leaves and fresh kedondong (KIII) mixture of crushed dried leaves kedondong and each two replications. Burns made on the backs of mice and the treatments are done twice a day for 21 days.Observation research parameter is the description of macroscopic and microscopic observed at day 7, 14, and 21 in the skin tissue with hematoxylin and eosin staining. The observation of macroscopic studies showed that the formation of a reddish color, presence of edema, and loss of the fastest consecutive scab is KI, KIII, and KII, while the formation of a scab fastest respectively KIII, KI and KII. The observation of histopathology showed on day 7, KI, KII and KIII found inflammatory cell infiltration, hemorrhage and edema with the spread of many.on the 14th day of KI and KII infiltration of inflammatory cells and their udema much, whereas KIII inflammatory cell infiltration decreased, and hyperemia increase, on the 21st day KI, KII and KII inflammatory cell infiltration, hyperemia and hemorrhage spread with a little, but KI and KII oedemanya still being spread. Based on the results of this study concluded that KIII accelerate the healing process of burns on rats
