Abstract

Subjective well-being is considered one of the scientific measures to represent one's happiness and quality of life. This research aims to analyze the influences of parenting practices and characters toward subjective well-being in adolescents. This research used the explanatory method and was conducted in Bekasi, which was chosen based on a purposive approach. The respondents were 213 adolescents in the 11th grade of senior/vocational high school. The primary data was self-administered and collected through questionnaires. The collected data included adolescent characteristics (age and gender), family characteristics (parents' age, education, work status, and family size), parenting practices, characters, and subjective well-being. The data obtained were then processed and analyzed descriptively and inferentially using Microsoft Excel and SPSS 26. The results show that the parenting practices index and subjective well-being index were in a low category, while the character index was in the moderate category. The correlation test found that female adolescents tend to receive better parenting practices. Furthermore, significant correlations were also found among parenting practices, characters, and subjective well-being. This regression test found that parenting practices from the parents and adolescents’ characters significantly influence subjective well-being in adolescents.

Abstract

Divorce in Indonesia continues to increase, resulting in an imbalance of family roles and functions. This imbalance has an impact on adolescents such as adolescent premarital sexual behavior. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship and influence of parent-adolescent interaction and peer interaction on the perception of premarital sexuality in adolescents from broken home families. The method used in this study was purposive sampling method with online survey completion. The number of research samples was 190 adolescents from broken home families in the Jabodetabek area (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi). The relationship test shows that parent-adolescent interaction has a significant negative relationship with the premarital sexual perceptions of adolescents from broken home families. The results of the effect test show that parent-adolescent interaction has a significant negative effect on the premarital sexual perceptions of adolescents from broken home families, but peer interaction has a positive and insignificant effect on the sexual perceptions of adolescents from broken home families. It is expected that parents can be a discussion partner for adolescents in solving problems. Teenagers are expected to be able to choose a good friendship environment.

Abstract

Abstract

The number of child marriages in Indonesia continues to increase and Indonesia is in the top 10 with the highest number of child marriages in the world. Pre-Marital School is a non-formal learning about marriage preparation for adolescents to gain knowledge and readiness before entering family life. The objectives of the Pre-Marital School are to reduce the high rate of child marriage, change adolescents' perception of family welfare, increase adolescents' knowledge related to family welfare and family functions, family nutrition, and improve family welfare. This study used action research method, which is organizing measurable action activities for teenagers in Ciherang Village, Bogor Regency, West Java. The number of participants involved was 16 teenagers. The data collected were pre-test and post-test data. The data was processed with SPPS by looking at the average change in knowledge. The results show that there has been a change in adolescents' perceptions about the importance of forming a prosperous family, an increase in adolescents' knowledge about the minimum age of marriage, indicators of prosperous family stages and family functions, and an increase in knowledge about family nutrition in adolescents. The success of this program shows that it is necessary to re-conduct similar programs that can be carried out in other areas. It is hoped that this program can reduce the number of child marriages in Indonesia.

Abstract

The use of social media in the daily lives of adolescents is inevitable. The behavior in the virtual space also needs to be considered so that it does not have a negative impact on others. Internet Etiquette (Netiquette) is a set of social norms in cyberspace that all users need to apply. This study analyzes the influence of self-control, peer attachment, and emotional intelligence on netiquette through social media exposure in adolescents. Two hundred and thirty-seven (237) adolescents aged 10-24 from 21 provinces in Indonesia participated in this online survey. Researchers used five questionnaires and analyzed them using SEM with SmartPLS. The results showed an influence of emotional intelligence, self-control, and social media exposure on the application of teenage netiquette. Emotional intelligence has the highest influence on the application of netiquette. On the other hand, peer attachment indirectly affects netiquette with the mediator variable of social media exposure. It is essential to promote an understanding of netiquette to adolescents as one of the foundations of digital literacy.

Abstract

Marriage during adolescence has an impact on the unpreparedness of families to carry out family duties and functions, including in building the quality of marriage and childcare. This study aims to analyze the quality of marriage and parenting styles in families who married in adolescence. This study used a phenomenological qualitative descriptive method using a purposive sampling technique. There were 3 participants in this study with criteria of mothers who married during adolescence and had children. This research was conducted in Purwakarta Regency in February-April 2022. Data collection techniques used observation, and semi-structured interviews with data analysis, reduction, and conclusion. The results showed that the quality of marriage in families who married in adolescence had low-quality marriages as indicated by poor communication between family members and low family economic conditions. In parenting styles, families generally adopt a permissive parenting style which is shown by giving warm affection to children but not accompanied by clear and consistent rules.

Abstract

Efforts to realize quality human and family resources can be achieved through optimizing the implementation of the eight family functions. This research was conducted to analyze what kind of family characteristics and at what socio-economic level are the families receiving contribution assistance in Indonesia, as well as to examine the extent of knowledge about the eight functions of the family in families receiving contribution assistance. This study uses longitudinal secondary data from the 2015-2019 National Medium-Term Development Plan Performance Indicator Survey. Data processing and analysis were carried out descriptively and inferentially using cross tabulation and regression testing. The study included 943,004 individual respondents. The result show that the higher the socioeconomic class of the family, the higher the knowledge about the eight family functions, this is statistically very significant as evidenced by the P value below 0.05, with a coefficient of 0.676. It is surprising that this study states that family size has no significant effect on socioeconomic class. Study proves that when the PBI Contribution recipient family data is regressed with socioeconomic class, the low economic class is positively correlated with a coefficient value of 0.481 and is statistically significant with a 95 percent confidence level and below 0.05, which is 0.000, meaning that in low socioeconomic families, they are the largest recipients of PBI contributions.
