Abstract

Quality of Wagyu Cow Semen in Different Diluents During the Cooling ProcessABSTRACT.  This study aims to test the differences in semen quality diluted with three different types of diluents. The material used in this study was 3-year-old Japanese Black wagyu cattle semen. The method used was a Completely Randomized Design (RAL), with 3 treatments and 6 replications, namely P0 (Tris aminomethane + 20% egg yolk), P1 (Skim milk + 20% egg yolk), P2 (Coconut water + 20% egg yolk). The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and if the results were significantly different, Duncan's further test was carried out. The results showed that different types of diluents had significantly effected viability and motility (P<0,05) but not abnormality. The percentage of viability were P0 of 81.36 ± 1.05%; P1 of 86.08 ± 4.83% and P2 of 69.97 ± 5.66%, the percentage of motility were 45.67 ± 0.81%; 46.50 ± 1.37%; 41.00 ± 1.09%, and the percentage of abnormality were 54.86 ± 10.96%; 59.87 ± 6.18%; 48.81 ± 8.79% respectively. The conclusion of this study was that the highest viability and motility values were shown in skim milk diluent.

Abstract

Kecernaan protein kasar pada perlakuan A mengalami peningkatan yaitu 45,07%. Kandungan VFA tertinggi (P0,05) terdapat pada perlakuan A 98,00 mM. Perlakuan yang terbaik pada penelitian ini adalah perlakuan A yaitu pelet pakan kambing dengan keseimbangan hijauan dan biokonversi manure layer secara in vitro 75% : 25%.

Abstract

This study investigated the effects of fermented of ginger (Zingiber officinale) and Coleus amboinicus extracts administered via drinking water on broiler growth performance and immune response. A completely randomized design was employed with four treatments and five replications, totaling 100 broiler chicks divided into cages of five birds each. The treatments consisted of drinking water supplemented with ginger fermented extracts at concentrations of 0% (T0, control), 2% (T1), 4% (T2), and 6% (T3). Parameters measured included feed intake, body weight gain (BWG), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and relative weights of lymphoid organs (thymus, bursa of Fabricius, and spleen). The results showed that fermented extract supplementation significantly improved broiler performance. T1 had the highest BWG (1415.4±31.17g), while T3 showed the highest feed intake (2496.56±59.37g). The most efficient FCR was observed in T1 (1.75±0.045). In terms of immune response, T2 significantly increased spleen weight (0.15±0.02%) compared to the control (0.09±0.01%). Phytochemical analysis demonstrated that fermentation enhanced the bioactive content of the extract, increasing total phenols 20.64 ppm, flavonoids 163.08 ppm, and antioxidant activity 20.8% inhibition 5000. These findings suggest that administering 2% fermented extract via drinking water optimally improves broiler growth, while 4% enhances immune response. Fermented ginger and Coleus amboinicus extract show potential as natural feed additives and could serve as a sustainable alternative to antibiotics in poultry production.

Abstract

Background: Common farmers use feed additives such as acidifiers, phytobiotics, and probiotics to replace antibiotics. African leaves are   traditional plants that can be used as a  commercial substitute for feed additives. Purpose: This study aims to determine the impact of adding African leaf encapsulation and the best dose of African leaves in drinking water on the percentage of abdomen fat, carcass, and lymphoid organs of broilers. Methods. The study was conducted experimentally using RAL (Completely Randomized Design) which included 5 replications and 4 treatments, all treatment units consisted of 5 chicks. The treatments was the addition of African leaf extract  encapsulation in drinking water, namely without encapsulation of African leaf extract (EEDA)(A), 0.5% EEDA (B), 1% EEDA (C), and 1.5% EEDA (D). The research parameters included carcass percentage, abdomen fat percentage, thymus, Bursa fabricius, and  broiler thyroid. Results: The resut of the study showed that the addition of african leaf extract encapsulation in drinking water had no significant effect (P>0,05) on the percentage of carcass, abdomen fat, and lymphoid organs. Conclusion: Based on the research result, it can be concluded that the addition of african leaf extract encapsulation in drinking water as a feed additive does not effecet (P>0,05) the percentage of carcass, abdomen fat, and lymphoid organs of broilers. The addition of EEDA in drinking water can be reduced to 1,5% on the percentage of carcass, abdomen fat, and lymphoid organs of broilers.
