Abstract

This final project studied the analysis of the errors made by the students. The background of the study errors made the students. This research focused mainly on the errors finding. The design of the research was descriptive qualitative research. The objectives of the study were (1) to find out the kinds of errors finding, (2) to explore dominant errors findings, (3) to show the students competence producing descriptive text. The object of the research were tenth grade SMA N 1 Gondong. The instruments of the study were the data from the students product. To identify the data of error analysis the researcher used the theory of James Carl (1998). This finding showed us how the errors finding. The dominant types of errors analysis is the omission 42 findings with 42,42% percentage finding from the data. Then, followed by the misinformation that found 32 errors with 32,32%. The 15 errors of addition with the percentage 15,15% findings from the data. The last one is misordering with 10 errors with 10,10%. The summaries may be concluded that there were several finding on the errors analysis. There were omission, addition, misinformation, and misordering.

Abstract

This study discusses the bereavement of Amir, the main character of The Kite Runner, and analyzes the defense mechanisms projected toward the bereavement. This study uses a psychological approach to identify and analyze Amir’s bereavement and defense mechanisms. The qualitative descriptive nature of this study allows data to be presented in the form of texts or descriptions. Data were mined from the novel through the character’s feelings, thoughts, and dialogues. This analysis shows that Amir experiences five stages of bereavement: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. To cope with the bereavements, he performs several defense mechanisms; displacement, rationalization, projection, repression, regression, undoing, and denial. This study is conducted upon the elements within the novel through a psychological perspective to better understand the story as well as to provide multi-dimension literature understanding.

Abstract

Abstract. Friday sermons are the most significant speeches in the Muslim world and have been for years, they are the least critically investigated in the science of discourse analysis. The primary goals of this study were to investigate the attitudinal resources in the Friday Sermon on Death and to figure out the most attitudinal resources are revealed how sermon meanings are constructed in the Friday Sermon on death. This study falls into the category of descriptive qualitative research. The data comes in the form of text, which comprises attitudes, and it is these attitudes that are being investigated in this study. This study concentrated on attitudinal resources in the appraisal theory. The transcript of Friday sermon data for this enquiry was obtained from the Navedz.com website on March 27, 2009. It was determined that the preacher Al-Madinah Al- Munawwarrah 'Abdul Ibn 'Awad Ath-Thubayti established himself with 23 Affect clauses with a percentage of 39 percent.  Judgement is linked to 29 sentences in the Friday sermon, then according to the findings, the preacher used appreciation resources in 7 clauses.

Abstract

Teaching English as a foreign language presents unique challenges. This research delves into the hurdles faced by English Language Department students at Al-Mergib University, particularly in active participation during the learning process. The study also explores the pedagogical strategies employed by Al-Mergib University instructors, with a focus on communicative language teaching (CLT). Through an applied research approach, the root causes of these challenges and potential solutions are investigated. Data were gathered from five teachers and ten students to offer deeper insights. Findings indicate a mixed teaching approach in Libyan classrooms, while many educators utilize interactive methods such as collaborative learning, others remain reliant on traditional techniques. The results highlight the necessity for teachers to adapt their strategies in response to evolving student needs. A significant challenge for students was understanding lectures, often due to rapid speech and limited vocabulary exposure, hampering language and vocabulary development. The study underscores the importance of targeted teaching practices, fostering student collaboration, and creating a dynamic learning environment. Enhancing students' confidence in English is further facilitated by encouraging its use outside the classroom setting. This research holds valuable implications for language education, curriculum development, teacher training, and the advancement of efficacious English communication skills.

Abstract

Menurut penulis, materi menulis atau kemampuan menulis sangat dibutuhkan di dunia perkuliahan atau pekerjaan adalah karena banyak materi atau kebutuhan yang berkaitan dengan materi menulis, seperti ketika menulis untuk membuat surat, pengumuman,  atau keperluan lainnya di dunia perkuliahan. Penelitian berjudul “ Peningkatan Kemampuan Siswa Menulis bahasa Inggris Explanation Text Dengan Metode Explanation Text “ ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks eksplanasi. Dengan menggunakan metode problem based learning peneliti berharap kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks eksplanasi mengalami peningkatan. Alasan penulis menggunakan metode problem based learning daripada metode lain adalah karena menurut penulis metode problem based leraning adalah metode yang cocok dengan materi teks eksplanasi karena dapat dikaitkan dengan problem atau permasalahan yang ada di lingkungan kehidupan sehari hari. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas. Dalam penelitian ini diperoleh hasil rata-rata pada siklus I dengan nilai 78,25 dan data rata-rata pada siklus II adalah 92,25. Angka dari penelitian menunjukkan adanya selisih yang signifikan dan menunjukkan peningkatan. Dari hasil yang ditemukan diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa terdapat peningkatan dari siklus I ke Siklus II. Dengan adanya peningkatan tersebut, maka peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa metode penelitian problem based learning dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis explanation text.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate students' perceptions of Social Learning Strategy (SLS) in empowering various English as a Foreign Language (EFL) language skills in SMK N 6 Semarang. A descriptive qualitative method was used with a questionnaire survey to collect data from 35 students from SMK N 6 Semarang who completed the first nine items of the Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) questionnaire and a background characteristics survey. The study's findings indicate that how English is used in practice affects how well it is learned. The findings showed a connection between using social strategies and effectively learning English. The most commonly used social strategies are to mix Indonesian and English words if students do not know the English word or practice English with the English teacher and classmates.

Abstract

The most commonly used social strategies are “I review English lessons with my closest friends”.

Abstract

Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana peningkatan keterampilan peserta didik dalam menulis teks eksplanasi di Kelas XI IPS 1 SMA Negeri 6 Semarang semester 2 Tahun Pelajaran 2022-2023 sebagai hasil penggunaan Media Picture. Penelitian ini juga digunakan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana peningkatan pengetahuan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan teknik siklus yang terdiri dari dua tindakan siklus yaitu siklus 1 dan siklus 2. Alat pengumpulan data yang digunakan untuk data kuantitatif berupa tes tertulis hasil karya peserta didik dan data kualitatif digunakan lembar observasi atau pengamatan. Teknik analisis data menggunakan metode triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan media picture dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi. Capaian ketuntasan belajar peserta didik meningkat mulai dari dilaksanakannya siklus I yaitu sebesar 61,11%, sedangkan pada pra-siklus capaian ketuntasan belajar hanya 11,11%. Pada siklus II capaian ketuntasan belajar dapat melampaui 75% yaitu sebesar 77,78%.

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris sebagai Foreign Language (EFL) dianggap salah satu pelajaran yang sulit dipahami bagi peserta didik, yang berpengaruh pada motivasi belajar. Motivasi belajar sangat penting dalam menentukan keberhasilan belajar peserta didik. Terutama dalam membaca pemahaman explnation text yang berisi teks panjang mengenai proses terjadinya sesuatu fenomena. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan kemampuan Reading Comprehension materi Explanation Text pada peserta didik kelas XI MIPA 8 SMA Negeri 6 Semarang tahun pelajaran 2022/2023 melalui penggunaan media Mystery Box. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam 2 siklus dengan dua kali pertemuan setiap siklusnya. Subjek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI MIPA 8 SMAN 6 Semarang yang berjumlah 35. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah observasi, tes, dan kuesioner. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Berdasarkan hasil tes kemampuan Reading Comprehension Explanation Text dengan Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) 75 menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil. Siklus 1 memiliki rata-rata nilai 67,43 dengan prosentase ketuntasan belajar 31%. Sedangkan pada siklus 2 memiliki nilai rata-rata 96.86 dengan prosentase ketuntasan belajar sebanyak 97%. Untuk mengetahui peningkatan motivasi belajar peserta didik , penulis menganalisis dari hasil kuesioner. Hasil analisis dari kuesioner tersebut yaitu sebanyak 47,4% peserta didik menyatakan sangat setuju,  47,4 % peserta didik setuju dan 5,3%  peserta didik tidak setuju bahwa penggunaan media Mystery box dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar peserta didik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media Mystery Box dapat meningkatkan Motivasi Belajar Dan Kemampuan Reading Comprehension Materi Explanation Text pada Peserta Didik Kelas XI MIPA  8 SMA Negeri 6 Semarang Tahun Pelajaran 2022/2023.
