Abstract

This research entitled “Linkage Meaning Symbol of Cover Single from Lyric Fadeless on the GazettE Band”. The data was analyzed by the literature method and descriptive analysis. This study used the semantic theory by Abdul Chaer (2009), semiotic theory by Marcel Danesi (2012), and the triangular semiotic theory by Odgen & Richard (2009). The aims of this study are to know the meaning and relationship of symbol in the cover single and the lyric of Fadeless by the GazettE band. Based on the data analysis, there were eight symbols meaning that appeared in the cover single of Fadeless and the meaning in the song lyric Fadeless, including ten datas connotative meaning, one data of the term meaning, eight datas conceptual meaning, four datas of metaphor meaning. Meanwhile, there were eight parts which had relationship between the cover single and the song lyric of Fadeless.

Abstract

The research describe the life of mangaka and people opinion of the occupation of mangaka in the manga Bakuman by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. The data analyzed using descriptif analysis and dialetic method. This research used the sociology of literature by Watt (in Damono, 1979:3-5) and semiotic theory by Danesi (2010:7). The result is the life of mangaka in the manga Bakuman is going through several processes. These processes are learning the technique of making manga, contacting the editorial, joining competition, geting an editor, making a 'name', publishing a manga in magazine and serilize it, then turn it into anime. The working situation of a mangaka covering the mangaka's workplace, the mangaka's working hours, the mangaka working with the assistants. The economic condition of mangaka covering the mangaka earn money from their salary and royalty. In the manga Bakuman also found the opinion of people of mangaka. The opinion is that from mangaka itself in which mangaka need a high skill of drawing and writing a story and also mangaka is a desired accupation by the youngster of Japan. Opinion from the co-worker, in which mangaka has a heavy workload, but it give a good income. The opinion from the mangaka's family is that the occupation of mangaka decrease the time that the mangaka spend with family , however it helps the economy of the family.

Abstract

This research is titled “The Contrastive of Japanese and Balinese Compound Words”. The research analyzed the connection and meaning between each elements both Japanese and Balinese compound words; furthermore, the similarities and diferentiations between them. This research used morphology theory by Ramlan (2009), semantic theory by Kridalaksana (2001) and contrastive linguistics by Pranowo (1996). The results of this research showed that the elements’ connection of Japanese compound words consist of complementary connection, explaination connection and opposite connection. The elements’ connection of Balinese compound words are described as follows: the first element is explained by second element;moreover, they coordinate each others, one of the elements is unique morphem; in addition, the first element explain the second element. Both compound words made an idiom, semi idiom, and non idiom meaning. It found that Japanese and Balinese compound words have a similarities in some connections such as explanation connection and opposite connection (coordinate element in Balinese), which made an idiom, semi idiom and non idiom meaning; moreover, formed by free morphem and got an affixes. Another diferentiation in Japanese compound words there is an additional complementary connection, besides, there is an elements that have a phonemic change, addition and removal when they are combined. The elements could be a word which has renyoukei process,and conjugation; further, there are a compound words that elements are read in kunyomi and onyomi. Meanwhile, in Balinese compound words, one of the elements could be a unique morpheme.

Abstract

The title of this research is “Metaphor in Evergreen Album by Motohiro Hata”. This research aims to analyze the category, the meaning and the function of metaphor in Evergreen Album by Motohiro Hata. The theories that are used for analyzing arestylistics by Al-MA’ruf (2009) and metaphor by Knowless & Moon  (2006). The results of this research shows there are four metaphor identified in Evergreen CD 1: 1) personification; 2) simile; 3)metomyny; 4) synesthesia. In addition to it, the metaphor are functioned as follow : 1) to describe one’s feeling; 2) to show up impression whitin the lyrics; 3) to intensify the meaning.

Abstract

The tittle of this research is “Workplace Harassment in Eiji Harasumento drama by Makiko Uchidate”. The purpose of this research is to know the forms of harassment in the workplace which is reflected in Eiji Harasumento drama and also to know the character's efforts in the face of the harassment. The collected data was then analyzed using descriptive analysis method. There are three theories used which are the Theory of Sociology Literature of Wiyatmi (2013), Harassment Theory of Beran & Li (2002) and Semiotics Theory of Danesi (2004). The results of the data analysis shows that in the Eiji Harasumento drama there is a repeated form of harassment but it is done by different characters. 70% harassment is a direct harassment whereas 30% is indirect harassment. Verbal direct harassment is found in 85% from all of direct harassment. While a partly data show is nonverbal direct harassment. Mostly direct harassment is doing by superiors and colleagues on female characters, but there are also data showing harassment by subordinates to superiors in the Eiji Harasumento drama. While overall of indirect harassment doing by fellow woman either by superiors or women of the same position.Then the character's efforts in dealing with abuse are mostly shown by the female characters either directly or indirectly efforts.

Abstract

This research entitled “Implicature meaning which happened because of violates the maxims of conversation in the cooperative principle in Kimi Ni Todoke’s Manga by Shiina Karuho”.The theories used for analyzing are the cooperative principle theory by Grice and speech acts (illocutionary acts) theory by Searle. This research aims to find out the type of maxim of conversation which got violated in Kimi Ni Todoke by Shiina Karuho and also the implied meaning of it. Based on the analysis that has been done, there are 21 dialogues which violates maxim of conversation, there are 6 dialogues for maxim of quantity, 5 dialogues for maxim of quality, 6 dialogues for maxim of relation, 4 dialogues for maxim of manner and 4 dialogues for violates two maxims at the same time. There are also five types meaning of the implicatures based on illocutionary acts, such as assertives, directives, expressives, commisives and declarations.

Abstract

This research entitled “Violation of politeness maxim in Nijuushi no Hitomi’s Novel by Sakae Tsuboi”. This research aims to find out the kind speech act and type of violated conversation which got violated in Nijuushi no Hitomi’s Novel by Sakae Tsuboi. The data analyzed using descriptive method. The theories used for analyzing are speech acts (illocutionary acts) theory by Searle (1969) and the politeness principle theory by Leech (1983). Based on the analysis that has been done, there are violation of politeness maxim, such as (1) tact maxim (six data that aims for requesting, commanding, prohibiting, inviting and persuading), (2) generosity maxim (one data that aims for mocking), (3) approbation maxim (eight data that aims for mocking, blaming and naming) (4) agreement maxim (four data that aims for lying, advising, resigning and dismissing) (5) sympathy maxim (two data that aims for commanding and mocking).

Abstract

The research of how to use the adverb of omowazu, tsui and ukkari in daily Japanese language by Japanese people in Shishi, Pengosekan, Ubud aims to know the use, structure, meaning and substitution of the adverb of omowazu, tsui and ukkari from the questionnaire. The analysis of structure uses Contextual theory applied by Verhaar (2012), meanwhile, the analysis of meaning uses theory applied by Pateda (2001). According to the result of the analysis, omowazu explains something that occurs by sudden, or something that is not planned and thought. Tsui indicates that something is done unconscious, without intention, and indicates period of activities. Moreover, ukkari also has the same meaning with the adverb tsui. However, the meaning of ukarri prefers to reckless.

Abstract

This research entitled “The Usage of Setsuzokushi Uchi ni, Aida ni, Kagiri and Ijou wa in Tobu ga Gotoku Novel by Ryoutarou Shiba”. This research describes the structure and contextual meaning of setsuzokushi uchi ni, aida ni, kagiri and ijou wa in Tobu ga Gotoku Novel by Ryoutarou Shiba. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive analysis method. The theories used for analyzing are syntax theory by Verhaar (2012) and contextual meaning theory by Pateda (2001). As the result, setsuzokushi uchi ni, aida ni, kagiri and ijou wa are always connected with verb, adjective and noun. Setsuzokushi uchi ni and aida ni are not always use their particle “ni” in the sentence. Setsuzokushi ijou wa is not always use it particle “wa” in the sentence. There are four kinds of contextual meaning that found in the setsuzokushi uchi ni’s data, that are situation context, purpose context, mood context and time context. There are three contextual meaning that found in the setsuzokushi aida ni’s data, that are situation context, time context and location context. In the kagiri’s data there are situation context, purpose context and time context. And in the ijou wa’s data there are two context that are person context and purpose context.

Abstract

This research dealt withLiteral IndirectSpeech Act in Ichi Rittoru No Namida Drama by Masanori Murakami. The objective of research is to know theliteral indirect speech act which has an alteration on sentences function and sentences purpose. This research uses the speech act theory by Austin (1962) and literal indirect speech act theory by Parker (1986). The results of this research show that Ichi Rittoru No Namida Drama has three kinds speech wich has the alteration in sentence function such as the alteration from interogative sentence into declarative sentence, the alteration from declarative sentence into imperative sentence, and the alteration from interogative into imperative sentence. The purposes of using literal indirect speech act in Ichi Rittoru No Namida Drama consist of six function namely giving sugestion, giving command, giving advise, giving refusel, notify, and giving complaint.
