Abstract

HLSW is a natural tourist attraction that presents the scenery and experience of natural tropical rainforest exploration. The existing space in the HLSW area is not well ordered, especially in the public zone as the zone visited by more diverse visitors. This can be seen from main routes and some attraction nodes that are not in good condition. Node is the concentration of the area, which is the intersection of HLSW main pathway, the tracking post and attraction area as the activity center. A node must show the indigenous character and accommodate the visitor?s activity. It is necessary to analyze the HLSW node to obtain the type of activity and the condition of physical elements. Observation of the node by mosaic technique, which is to combine several single photographs to get the picture in a wide scope and to understand the role of each node. Results of this research are (i) All three types of nodes are exist in natural condition with very minimal facilities, (2) The number of facilities such as signage and other supporting furniture are not good in quality and not many in quantity, (3) The whole elements does not show HLSW character yet. This causes the concentration of the area to be less attractive and does not show its identity.

Abstract

The relocation of the Indonesian new capital city to Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) has had an impact on rapid urban growth and development in the buffer area of Balikpapan City. The growth referred to is increasing area development, improving infrastructure, and increasing welfare. However, on the other hand, the transfer of IKN Nusantara could further increase the impact of global warming due to the high contribution of CO₂ emissions, especially those produced by buildings. Grand City Housing was chosen as the study location based on the green concept that has been implemented, the land area, and the availability of a master plan and environmental documents. The specific aim is to convey the green concept to Grand City Housing with the Greenship Neighborhood Assessment rating tool. This research method uses quantitative descriptive, namely that the results of the assessment of the research object are evaluated in the form of scores using the Greenship Neighborhood Assessment Version 1.0 rating tool. The results obtained were based on an assessment using Greenship Neighborhood version 1.0. The overall maximum score was 124, and the Grand City Housing area received a score of 28 with a weight of 22.4%, so this residential area did not meet any ranking. The highest score obtained was in the Movement and Connectivity category, with a score of 7 out of a maximum of 26. Meanwhile, the lowest scores were Building and Energy (BAE) and Development and Innovation (IFD), with an identical score of 2 out of a maximum score of 15 for BAE and 9 for IFD. Therefore, it is necessary to create a Grand City Housing environment that is suitable to live in, comfortable, and efficient in accordance with the Greenship Neighborhood Assessment Version 1.0 rating tools in urban environments.

Abstract

Balikpapan City, which develops heterogeneously, has an industrial area and settlement around it as the oldest area of the city. A study of the typology and morphology of the heritage zone of Balikpapan was completed to discover the city's spatial characteristics which grew multicultural and formed its built environment. Not only does the form found shows the definite shape of the urban spatial arrangement but also indicates an urban identity that can be developed sustainably. This study was conducted to determine the typology and morphology of the built area during the early development period of Balikpapan City. Through a typological-morphological analysis with a desktop survey, supported by the figure-ground maps and comparison with the theory of spatial types of urban space. The results showed that there are 4 types of typologies, which illustrate different patterns. The morphological characteristics of each typology are related to its function and generally describe the occupants. In addition, the typology indirectly shows the relationship between the form and the initial process of area formation, both planned and unplanned.
