Abstract

Availability of water in swamp areas is abandon almost throughout the year, therefore these areas are potential for aquaculture development. However, the characteristics of swamp water is mainly acid water, therefore, it becomes mayor problems in swamp fish culture development. Liming of ponds is intended to increase pH value of soil and water  of fish ponds. A. granosa shells is one of domestic waste containing of 61.16% CaO and 21.65% MgO, therefore it can be used as an alternative material for liming of fish ponds. The aims of this research was to evaluate the potency of lime derived from A. granosa shells to raise soil’s and water’s pH, and to evaluate its effect to survival and growth of Pangasius sp. The research was conducted and arranged based upon completely randomized design with five treatments and three replications. The treatments used consisted of different dosages of lime, namely : P1) 1 ton/ha; P2) 2 ton/ha; P3) 3 ton/ha; P4) 4 ton/ha and P5) 5 ton/ha of lime equivalent to CaO. The results showed that both the soil and water reach a neutral pH at a dosage of 2 ton/ha (P2), 3 ton/ha (P3), 4 ton/ha and 5 ton/ha. The dosage of 5 ton/ha (P5) was the best treatments among all treatments, with a highest survival rate (100%), absolute growth of fish lenght (9.35 cm) and weight (40.69 g), as well as feed efficiency (110.97%).

Abstract

Pemeliharaan ikan lele yang dilakukan pembudidaya ikan sebagian besar tidak melakukan upaya pengelolaan kualitas air seperti sirkulasi maupun penggantian air (water exchange). Salah satu teknologi untuk menjaga kualitas air media budidaya adalah menggunakan sistem resirkulasi. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini untuk mengaplikasikan sistem resirkulasi dengan mengunakan filter dalam pengelolaan kualitas air sehingga diperoleh kualitas air yang mendukung bagi budidaya ikan lele. Metode penelitian terdiri dari dua perlakuan yaitu P0: perlakuan non filter dan P1: perlakuan sistem resirkulasi dengan filter. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa pengunaan sistem resirkulasi menggunakan filter dapat memperbaiki kualitas air yaitu penurunan kandungan amonia  yaitu dari 2,6 menjadi 0,1 mg/l, pertumbuhan panjang ikan lele sebesar 9,48 cm, pertumbuhan bobot ikan lele sebesar 37,15 g dan kelangsungan hidup sebesar 94%.

Abstract

The Lubuk Lampam floodplain’s ecosystem is naturally affected by the fluctuation of the water surface. This ecosystem also receives anthropogenic substances such as nutrients and other chemicals, especially from the oil palm plantation and its industrial processing activities. The main objective of this research was to determine the trophic status of the floodplain using the trophic level index (TLI) and Carlson’s trophic state index (TSI). The water quality and the fish samples were collected and analyzed from 7 stations representing various types of floodplain habitat. The results showed that the trophic status of Lubuk Lampam was hypereutrophic (very nutrient-rich). This was also supported by the high increase of the body weight (“b” value more than 3) and the high gonadosomatic index (GSI) of the studied fishes, i.e. Osteochilus vittatus 2.53-6.81% (male) and 3.00-15.86% (female); Helostoma temminckii 0.28-3.33% (male) and 1.30-10.43% (female); and Channa striata 0.33-0.59% (male) and 0.21-2.73% (female).

Abstract

Perairan rawa di Indonesia belum termanfaatkan secara optimal khususnya untuk budidaya ikan patin, terutama karena  terkendala rendahnya pH air rawa berkisar 3-4, sedangkan kolam dengan memanfaatkan air rawa sebagai media budidaya memerlukan pH optimal 6,5-8,5. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan upaya untuk mengoptimalkan atau meningkatkan pH air rawa dengan menggunakan kapur alternatif, yaitu kapur dari cangkang keong mas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dosis terbaik kapur cangkang keong mas dalam upaya meningkatkan pH air rawa lebak untuk media pemeliharaan ikan patin. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap enam perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu perbedaan dosis kapur cangkang keong mas yang disetarakan dengan CaO  dalam satuan mg L-1 yaitu 0 (P0), 5 (P1), 10 (P2), (P3), dan 20 (P4). Parameter yang diamati meliputi parameter kualitas air (pH, Ca, Mg, suhu dan oksigen terlarut),  kelangsungan hidup, pertumbuhan, dan efisiensi pakan ikan . Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dosis terbaik pada pemberian kapur cangkang keong mas yaitu dosis 10 mg L-1 yang mampu mengoptimalkan pH air rawa lebak 4,8 menjadi 7,4, kelangsungan hidup ikan patin sebesar  98%, pertumbuhan bobot mutlak ikan patin sebesar 18,36 g, pertumbuhan panjang mutlak ikan patin sebesar 6,20 cm dan efisiensi pakan ikan  patin sebesar 95,54%. Dengan demikian, kapur cangkang keong mas dengan dosis 10 mg L-1 dapat diaplikasikan pada air rawa sebagai media budidaya ikan patin.Aquatic swamp in Indonesia has not been utilized optimally mainly for fish culture. It is constrained by the low pH of water in swamps (ranged 3-4). Catfish potential to be developed in swamps, but to culture of catfish on ponds using swamp water as rearing media is needed a neutral pH between 6.5-8.5. Therefore, it is necessary to increase pH by alternative liming using lime of golden apple snail shells.This study purpose to determine the best (optimal) dosage of golden apple snail shell lime to increase the pH of swamp water for catfish rearing media. This research applied a completely randomized design with six treatments and three replications. The dosages of golden snail shells lime that was equivalent to CaO as treatment consist of 0 mg L-1 (P0), 5 mg L-1 (P1), 10 mg L-1 (P2), 15 mg L-1 (P3) and 20 mg L-1 (P4). The results of this study showed that the best dose of golden snail shell lime is 10 mg L-1 equivalent to CaO which can optimize the swamp water pH from 4.8 to 7.4, survival rate 98%, absolute weight growth of 18.36 g, absolute length growth of 6.20 cm and feed efficiency of Pangasius catfish 95.54%.

Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).One of the methods that can increase the growth of culture tilapia is by applying a combination of the starvation method and feed fermentation. The results of previous studies showed a high increase in fish growth when fish are starvated and fed fermented feed compared to the growth of fish without starvated and fed non fermented feed. The purpose of this activity was to determine the growth and feed conversion ratio of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) that were starvated and fed fermented feed at Kelompok Pembudidaya Ikan in Tanjung Seteko, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir. Fish rearing for 28 days. Fish stocked in 2 nets (size 0,5 m ´ 0,5 m ´ 0,65 m) that were placed in concrete pond (size 5 m ´ 4 m ´ 0,7 m). The first pond (K0) as control (without starvation and fed by commercial feed) and the second pond (K1) as treatment (starvated and fed by fermented feed). The parameters were absolute growth of weight and length, feed conversion ratio, and survival rate. Water quality measurements were temperature and pH. The results showed that absolute growth of tilapia that were starvated and fed by fermented feed were higher than those were not starvated and fed by commercial feed. Fish that starvated and fed by fermented feed produced an absolute weight growth of 7.14 g, absolute length growth of 2.34 cm, feed conversion ratio of 1.4, survival rate of 93.3%, and water quality in fish ponds were pH of 7.3-8.3 and temperature of 25.4-31.7℃.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Eucaryote microbes have an important role in forming bioflocs in the brackishwater aquaculture ponds. Bioflocs become potential live feed for milkfish or crustacea. This study aimed to identify the potential of eukaryotic microbes in the brackishwater aquaculture as the biofloc candidates potential development. This study was done through the water quality assessment and potential indigenous microbes isolation approach. Sampling was retrieved from the water subcomposite and sediment on each intertidal inlet and outlet. The water quality of brackishwater pond and intertidal swamp tended to lack of nutrient as containing inoptimal dissolved oxygen, salinity, pH, and ammonia content for the milkfish culture. Therefore, liming and fertilizing should be done to enrich the indigenous microbes. Eucaryote microbe isolated from the enrichment media was the aquatic fungi (multicellular and unicellular fungi) and microalgae (bacillariophyta, chlorophyta, and cyanophyta). Fungi and yeast formed a floculation with microalgae. This form will become a biofloc candidate as a live feed and water quality controller for the development of brackishwater aquaculture in the swamp area. Keywords: eucaryote microbes, biofloc, aquaculture, pond, brackish water swamp ABSTRAK Mikrob eukariot berperan penting dalam pembentukan bioflok di tambak budidaya pada lahan rawa payau. Bioflok menjadi pakan alami untuk budidaya ikan bandeng atau udang. Tujuan riset ini adalah mengidentifikasi mikrob eukariot rawa payau potensial untuk pengembangan kandidat bioflok di akuakultur rawa payau. Riset ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitas air serta isolasi mikrob indigenous tambak dan rawa pasang surut untuk mendapatkan isolat mikrob potensial sebagai kandidat pembentuk bioflok. Sampling dilakukan secara subkomposit pada air dan sedimen di setiap inlet dan outlet pasang surut. Kualitas air tambak dan rawa pasang surut menunjukkan kondisi oksigen terlarut, salinitas, pH, dan amonia berada di luar batas optimum budidaya ikan bandeng, sehingga perlu dilakukan pengapuran dan pemupukan untuk memperbanyak mikrob indigenous-nya. Isolasi mikrob eukariot dari media pengayaan diperoleh jenis fungi akuatik yang multiseluler dan uniseluler, sedangkan mikroalga yang diperoleh yaitu dari golongan Bacillariophyta, Chlorophyta, dan Cyanophyta. Fungi yang dapat membentuk hifa dapat merangkai mikroalga dan khamir untuk membentuk flok. Susunan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi bahan bioflok yang berguna sebagai pengendali kualitas air sekaligus pakan alami bagi pengembangan budidaya di lahan rawa payau. Abstract

Abstract: Teluk Rasau lake is on of reserve area in South Sumatera, Indonesia.  This research aims to analyze the suitability of the Teluk Rasau Lake fish reserve based on environmental, social, economic, and cultural aspects and provide management recommendations for fish reserve based on its suitability. The research implemented from August to September 2023 in 3 (three) locations using the purposive sampling method. The suitability through the approach analysis of the function and effectiveness of the fish reserve area, considering parameters such as water depth, water quality, availability of aquatic plants as riparian vegetation, protection, water area, spawning, feeding, and nursery grounds for fish, rare/protected species, legality aspects, ease of access, usage conflicts, and the role of the community supervisory groups. Each parameter was scored based on its importance for the fish reserve. The analysis results of the function and effectiveness of the fish reserve show that its feasibility is quite appropriate, with a score of 26, indicating that the fish sanctuary is moderately functional and fairly effective. It was concluded that these categories showed optimal performance for the conservation goals of protecting rare/endemic fish species and increasing fish stocks for the surrounding waters. However, community supervisory groups participation involving the role was still low. Co-management-based fish reserve management is a suitable approach for the Teluk Rasau Lake fish reserve.

Abstract

Masyarakat di desa Talang Pangeran Ulu sudah melakukan kegiatan budidaya ikan lele. Salah satu kendala dalam budidaya ikan lele adalah tingginya harga pakan komersial. Salah satu solusi yang dapat dilakukan yaitu dengan menambahkan suplemen pada pakan sehingga dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan ikan dan meningkatkan produksi. Tujuan kegitan ini yaitu meningkatkan pemahaman pembudidaya ikan lele tentang penambahan suplemen pada pakan Kegiatan ini akan dilaksanakan di Desa Talang Pangeran Ulu, Kecamatan Pemulutan Barat, Ogan Ilir. Metode pelaksanaan berupa penyuluhan, pelatihan dan pendampingan teknis atau produksi melalui pemberdayaan partisipasi aktif mitra dengan transfer ilmu dan teknologi tentang penambahan suplemen pada pakan ikan lele yang melibatkan dosen pengusul, mahasiswa, serta mitra. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dirasakan manfaatnya oleh peserta yang dibuktikan dengan meningkatnya pemahaman peserta tentang penambahan suplemen pada pakan ikan lele. The community in Talang Pangeran Ulu Village has been carrying out catfish farming activities. One of the problems in catfish farming is the high price of commercial feed. One solution that can be done is by adding supplements to the feed so that it can increase fish growth and increase production. The aim of this activity is to increase the understanding of catfish farmers about adding supplements to feed. This activity will be carried out in Talang Pangeran Ulu Village, West Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir. The implementation method is in the form of counseling, training and technical or production assistance through empowering active partner participation by transferring knowledge and technology regarding adding supplements to catfish feed involving proposing lecturers, students and partners. The implementation of this activity was felt to be beneficial by the participants, as evidenced by the increased understanding of the participants regarding the addition of supplements to catfish feed.

Abstract

Probiotics are microbes that can modify the bacterial structure in fish digestive systems. Probiotics are used as feed additives and can improve the host's health. As a result, it can help to prevent Aeromonas infection. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of bacteria from the swamp (Bacillus sp. and Streptomyces sp.) on feed in preventing Aeromonas hydrophila infection in striped snakeheads. The study used P0 (control), P1 (Bacillus sp.), P2 (Streptomyces sp.), P3 (Bacillus sp. and Streptomyces sp. combination), each bacterium 10 ml kg-1 feed. Total of bacteria, prevalence, fish growth, survival rate, and water quality are among the variables assessed. The fish survival, fish growth, and feed efficiency in Channa treated with a combination of Bacillus and Streptomyces (P3) were significantly highest among other, resulting of best prevalence 2.38%.

Abstract

Desa Talang Balai Baru I adalah salah satu desa yang berada di Kecamatan Tanjung Raja, Kabupaten Ogan Ilir, Sumatera Selatan. Desa Talang Balai Baru I dikelilingi oleh sungai kelekar dan rawa yang kaya akan flora dan fauna. Desa Talang Balai Baru I Kecamatan Tanjung Raja, Kabupaten Ogan Ilir, Sumatera Selatan merupakan salah satu dari 50 desa ekowisata terbaik di Indonesia. Permasalahan yang dialami oleh pembudidaya  ikan termasuk yang dihadapi oleh kelompok pembudidaya ikan di Desa Talang Balai Baru I saat  ini belum mampu memproduksi benih ikan Lele secara mandiri dan kontinue sehingga ketersediaan benih untuk usaha pembesaran budidaya ikan lele masih mengandalkan dari hasil tangkapan alam. Untuk mengatasi masalah yang timbul dan untuk meningkatkan produksi khususnya pembudidaya ikan lele maka perlu ditingkatkan usaha budidaya yang lebih intensif. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan menambahkan atau menyuntikkan hormon ovaprim ke dalam tubuh ikan yang sudah matang gonad untuk meempercepat proses pemijahan sehingga dapat dihasilkan benih ikan lele yang baik dimana jumlah, mutu dan waktu penyediaannya dapat diatur sesuai dengan yang diinginkan. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini untuk meningkatkan kemampuan teknis pembudidaya ikan dengan transfer teknologi pembenihan secara terkontrol ikan lele dan meningkatkan produksi benih ikan lele secara berkelanjutan. Hasil produksi mitra sebelum adanya kegiatan PKM ini hanya mampu menangkap dari alam, sekarang sudah bisa melakukan pemijahan secara mandiri.
