Abstract

The implementation of an AC Light Dimmer and Relay 2 Channel as an automatic lamp control system on a Street Lighting (APJ) prototype based on the Internet of Things (IoT) is used to support energy efficiency on Jalan Bukit Dharma Raya Jimbaran. This system is designed to automatically adjust light intensity based on time and the presence of road users detected by an ultrasonic sensor. Monitoring and control are performed in real-time via the Telegram platform, with energy consumption monitored using the PZEM-004T module. The prototype is built using an ESP32 microcontroller, which controls the lamp activation, brightness through the AC Light Dimmer, and ON/OFF status via the Relay 2 Channel. Test results show that the system can improve energy efficiency by up to 43.75% and save electricity costs by Rp132.56 during 2 hours of operation. This system implementation has proven to be effective, adaptive to environmental conditions, and supports the application of intelligent and energy-efficient street lighting systems.

Abstract

Public Street Lighting (PJU) is a crucial component of public infrastructure, but ineffective real-time maintenance often leads to slow damage detection, resulting in energy waste, high maintenance costs, and increased safety risks. Previous research has highlighted the importance of proactive monitoring systems based on the Internet of Things (IoT) for PJU energy efficiency. However, conventional Human-Machine Interface (HMI) solutions such as custom mobile applications are often expensive and inflexible. This research proposes the implementation of the Telegram API as a low-cost HMI for a real-time monitoring and damage notification system for PJU. This system integrates an ESP32 microcontroller with an LDR sensor, ultrasonic sensor, and PZEM-004T module for acquiring data on light intensity, traffic activity, and electricity consumption. The Telegram Bot is utilized to send monitoring data and damage notifications in real-time to operators without requiring additional applications or dedicated servers. The main innovation lies in using Telegram as the primary communication medium, which is fast, secure, and efficient. Test results show that the system successfully detects and notifies light conditions and monitors energy consumption accurately, with notifications received within 1-2 seconds as long as the internet connection is stable. This implementation proves that the Telegram API is a functional, responsive, secure, and cost-effective HMI solution for public infrastructure management, offering flexibility and ease of access across various platforms.

Abstract

Street lighting plays a crucial role in supporting public safety and comfort, especially at night. However, many areas, such as Jalan Bukit Dharma Raya Jimbaran, still lack adequate lighting systems. This study designs and implements an intelligent street lighting system based on the Internet of Things (IoT), utilizing the ESP32 Devkit V1 as the central controller, along with an LDR sensor, ultrasonic sensor, and an AC Light Dimmer to automatically adjust light intensity according to time and traffic conditions. Test results show that the system operates efficiently and adaptively, achieving energy savings of up to 17.6% and cost savings of Rp 54.39 compared to a manual system, with efficiency levels varying depending on road user activity. The prototype has proven effective in enhancing energy efficiency and offers an adaptive lighting solution that can be further developed to support the concept of a sustainable smart city.

Abstract

The limited availability of fossil fuel reserves and the fact that their formation takes millions of years have driven the accelerated adoption of electric vehicles as a strategic step to reduce carbon emissions. Bali, as one of the leading regions in the clean energy transition, requires adequate infrastructure support, particularly charging stations as the main facilities for electric vehicles, whose development must take into account proper location selection and design. This study focuses on the design and location selection of battery swapping stations for electric motorcycles (SPBKLU) in South Bali, including three-dimensional designs and electrical layouts, as well as location determination using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method by evaluating potential sites. The results of this study are one optimal location for SPBKLU installation, accompanied by a three-dimensional design suited to the site’s characteristics and the SPBKLU’s electrical layout. In the future, it is expected to serve as a study and reference for the development of electric vehicle infrastructure in Bali, accelerating public adaptation to this technology.

Abstract

The horizontal axis wind turbine in the smart microgrid system at DH Building, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, is not operating optimally due to blade damage. This study aims to evaluate the replacement of the horizontal wind turbine with a tulip-type wind turbine and to analyze its economic feasibility. Simulation and optimization were carried out using HOMER Pro software, considering the local wind and solar energy potential. The simulation results indicate an annual energy production of 103,205 kWh, with contributions from the PV system at 61.5% and the wind turbine at 38.5%. From an economic perspective, the project yields a Net Present Cost (NPC) of Rp 1,668,925,000, a Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE) of Rp 4,368.36/kWh, and a Payback Period of 16 years and 8 months. The feasibility analysis results in a Net Present Value (NPV) of –Rp 308,312,810.02 and a Profitability Index (PI) of 0.7635. These findings demonstrate that the project is not financially feasible under the PLN tariff of Rp 1,699.53/kWh and a discount rate of 8.5%.

Abstract

Indonesia is currently in a transition toward clean energy. Therefore, accelerating the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) as a replacement for fossil-fueled vehicles has become a strategic step that is being actively promoted. To support this, the availability of adequate infrastructure is a key factor, with charging stations serving as the main infrastructure for electric vehicles. For optimal operation, the development of charging stations requires proper location selection and design. This study focuses on the design and location selection of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) intended for electric motorcycles in the South Bali region. The design features a three-dimensional model of the charging station, along with its corresponding electrical plan. Meanwhile, location selection is carried out using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method by evaluating potential sites. The outcome of this study is the identification of the best location for installing the SPKLU, accompanied by design suited to the site’s characteristics and the SPKLU’s electrical design. It is expected that this work can serve as a study and reference for further development to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in Bali.

Abstract

Bali is one of the regions in Indonesia at the forefront of the transition toward clean energy. One of the key steps to achieving this goal is the shift to electric vehicles (EVs). Therefore, the design of electric vehicle charging stations is a crucial factor in ensuring a smooth transition. Charging stations must be strategically located to provide easy access for users, and their planning must comply with existing regulations. One type of charging station is the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU). However, most SPKLUs are focused on electric cars, whereas the use of electric motorcycles is far more widespread. For this reason, this study focuses on the design of a direct charging system for electric motorcycles, which can be connected directly to the vehicles. The design process includes both 3D modeling and the electrical layout. The selection of a suitable location will be carried out using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to determine the optimal site in the South Bali area
