Abstract

Database of Sustainable Food Agricultural Land Resources Based on Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System at Subak Temaga East Denpasar Subdistricts. Subak Temaga doesn’t yet have a database according to Government Regulation No. 25 of 2012 concerning Information System for Sustainable Food Agriculture Land (SFAL). A geospatial-based database needs to be compiled to implement these regulation. The research aims: compile a database of artificial resources, agricultural resources, land resources and human resources to support SFAL in Subak Temaga, create land ownership maps in Subak Temaga, compile an information system of SFAL and land ownership based on remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS). This research uses a survey method to obtain primary data, then doing the mapping to compile the information system based on geospatial. The research results: artificial resources (irrigation, jogging track/farm road), land resources (soil family, landform, slope, rainfall, land suitability, soil fertility), agricultural resources (types of farm commodities, productivity, agriculture tools and machinery, cropping pattern, types and dosage of fertilizer), human resources (name, address, age, last education, farmer status, ownership status, ownership large and boundary, profit-sharing system). Farmer status consists of 56 owner farmers (30,9%) and 125 sharecropers (69,1%). Land ownership status consist of 432 freehold polygons (92,7%) and 34 non freehold polygons (23.8%). Remote sensing is used to determine the boundaries of land ownership, GIS is used to compile a geospatial-based information system for LP2B and land ownership.

Abstract

Applications Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System for Mapping of Superior Commodities in Badung District. Superior commodity is one of the conditions in the development of agricultural areas included in (Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture No. 56 of 2016). As for the development of food crops agriculture is based on land suitability classes found in technical guidelines (Ministry of Agriculture, 2017). The two regulations require that each Province develop a master plan for developing agricultural commodities, which is based on superior commodities and land suitability classes. Quantitative and qualitative methods include: (1) identification and interpretation of land use using satellite imagery, (2) field surveys, (3) re-interpretation of satellite images, (4) Location Quotient (LQ) analysis for competitive superior commodities and Shift Share Analysis (SSA) for comparative advantage, (5) Mapping of superior commodities and land suitability of food crops. The use of paddy fields in Badung Regency is 9069.11 ha, moor (898,797 ha), and mixed gardens (3898,615 ha). Competitive superior commodities (LQ) for: (1) paddy rice, located in Abiansemal, Mengwi, North Kuta and Kuta Districts, (2) corn, peanuts, sweet potatoes and cassava in Petang District, (3) soybeans and green beans in Mengwi District. Comparative superior commodities (SSA) of paddy rice are found in the Districts of Petang and Mengwi. While sweet potatoes in Abiansemal District and cassava in Petang District. Potential agroecosystem suitability classes for food crops and secondary crops in the study area are generally classified as very suitable (S1) except in the Petang District which is quite suitable (S2-t, rc1) with a low temperature limiting factor and a rough texture. Increasing the suitability class of paddy and palawija requires fertilizing and adding organic materials to increase production.

Abstract

Mapping of Climate Suitability and Variability for Corn Based on Geographic Information System (GIS). Each plant requires different growing conditions according to a certain climate. Climatic conditions can vary, such as El Nino and La Nina, which causes changes in the climate suitability of corn. Evaluation of climate suitability is important because climate factors are dynamic and difficult to control. This study aims to map the climate suitability of corn and map the climate suitability of corn when climate variability occurs in Bali Province. The analytical method used is matching and mapping using GIS. The results of this research showed that the climate suitability of normal period for corn in Bali Province is quite suitable (S2) and mostly (89.33%) is marginal (S3). Based on the limiting factors, it is divided into S2tc, S2wa, S2watc, S3wa and S3watc with the majority (498,568.26 ha) being S3wa. In general, climate variability causes changes in the area suitable for planting corn in Bali Province. El Nino had an impact on increasing the S2 area in the 2015 strong El Nino so that the S2watc area became 214,324.27 ha and the overall S2 area became 44.53%. The strong La Nina in 2010 reduced the overall S2 area to 0.49%, especially S2watc remaining only 2,756.75 ha.

Abstract

Application of Remote Sensing and GIS for Land Use Mapping and Impact on Food Supply in South Denpasar. The increasing demand for land, driven by population growth, societal development, and economic progress, leads to land use conversion. The conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural purposes has implications for food availability. This research aims to assess land use changes over an 11-year period (2012-2023), determine the presence of subak (traditional Balinese irrigation system) in 2041 based on the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) map, and project the analysis of food availability in 2030 and 2040 due to land use changes. The methods employed include satellite image interpretation, digital mapping, map overlay, and food availability analysis. The research findings indicate land use changes from 2012 to 2018 resulted in a conversion of 140,66 hectares (23,44 ha/year), and from 2018 to 2023, a conversion of 18,8 hectares (3,76 ha/year), with a total conversion of 159,46 hectares (14,50 ha/year) from 2012 to 2023. Based on the RTRW spatial plan map for 2021-2041, South Denpasar is projected to potentially 4 subak located outside agricultural zones. Land use changes in South Denpasar have implications for the rice food balance, with a projected deficit of (-19.973) tons in 2030 and (-20.563) tons in 2040. Reevaluation of land use allocation policies is necessary due to their impact on food availability, environment, social, and culture.
