Abstract

Productivity of Pepper Seeds Which are Treated Dry Heat Treatment and Storage Pepper plants (Capsicum frutescens L.) is one type of horticultural crops which is very high usage levels therefor, it is necessary to increase productivity dramatically. One effort to fulfil the need is preparing healthy seed with long shelf life . This study aims to determine the growth and yield of pepper plants whose seed was treated with dry heat treatment and storage. The experiment was conducted in Br . Marga Tengah, Kerta Village, Payangan District, Gianyar Regency, since May to October 2013. This study used a randomized block design (RBD) with two factors and four replications. The first factor is treated seeds by dry heat treatment at two levels i.e. given dry heat treatment at 70OC for 72 hours (D1) and without dry heat treatment (D0). The second factor is the storage of seeds with three levels, namely: non-stored seeds (T0), seed stored 2 months (T2) and the seeds stored for 4 months (T4). The results showed that there was no interaction between treatment with dry heat treatment and seed storage treatment of all variables of growth and yield of pepper plants. Dry heat treatment resulted the better growth and yield compared to non dry heat treatment. An increase in the number of fruit harvest as much as 33,43% and increased the weight of the fruit harvest per hectare as much as 33,79% on dry heat treatment compared with no dry heat treatment. Treatment of seed storage until the shelf life of 4 months did not affect the growth and yield of pepper plants.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of several immersion methods on dormancy breaking and methods that can accelerate dormancy breaking of Ciherang rice seeds. The experimental design used was a one-factor completely randomized design, namely the immersion method with 5 levels of treatments: the non-immersion method (P0), the immersion method using water at 30°C for 24 hours (P1), the immersion method using hot water with an initial temperature of 60°C for 24 hours. 24 hours (P2), the immersion method used a GA3 solution with a concentration of 0.5 ppm for 24 hours (P3), and the immersion method used a 3% KNO3 solution for 48 hours (P4) with five replications. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Breeding and Seed Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University from September 2020 to November 2020. The results showed that the immersion method had a very significant effect on the germination variable (%), maximum growth potential (%), dormancy intensity (%), and speed of germination (%/etmal), and significantly affect the growth of seed fungus (%). P3 treatment was able to break the dormancy of rice seeds for 5 weeks of observation with the highest germination value (95.16%) and obtained the smallest dormancy intensity value (4.56%) better than P0 treatment without soaking (control) obtained a germination value of (7.76%) and the value of dormancy intensity (89.52%). The highest germination rate was obtained in treatments P3 and P4, which were (6.08%/etmal) and (3.35%/etmal, respectively).

Abstract

The difficulty in obtaining seeds and the high price of seedlings prompted the implementation of the Campus Intellectual Product Business Development Program (PPUPIK) for superior local fruit seedlings of seedless BalineseWani at the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University. In order to support the successful development of the Seedless Wani Seed Business Unit, it is necessary to have a more in-depth study using a SWOT analysis. The research was conducted in Banjar Duren Taluh, Belimbing Village, Pupuan District, Tabanan Regency in April - August 2020. The study was conducted with a SWOT analysis to see the performance of business units by determining a combination of internal factors (strength and weakness) with external factors (opportunity and threats). Furthermore, the EFI and EFE matrices are made. The results of the two matrices are then entered into a qualitative model, namely the SWOT matrix to formulate the company's competitive strategy. Based on the results of the EFE and EFE value analysis, the Seedless Wani Seed Business Unit is in cell one where in this position the business unit can implement a growth strategy with vertical integration by taking over the supplier function or by taking over the function of the distributor. This is the main strategy for companies that have a strong and highly competitive market position. Keywords: Bali local fruit, Seedless wani seedling, SWOT analysis
