Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is still a health problem globally, including in Indonesia. Geographical and climatic conditions in coastal areas are different from other areas, which may impact differences in environmental risk factors for dengue. This study aims to create a prediction model for the incidence of DHF in coastal areas. The research was conducted in Bantul Regency, Indonesia, involving data from 2015-2019. Dengue incidence data were collected from the health office. Climatic data were from climatology station. Data on altitude and shoreline distance were obtained by geographic information system (GIS) processing. Population density and wide settlement area are obtained from the Bureau of Statistics. The geographically weighted regression (GWR) analysis was carried out using GWR4. The results showed that GWR with a weighting of Fixed Bi-Square Kernel obtained an R2 value of 0.7768, better than the global model (R2 0.5254). It indicates that DHF (Y) in Bantul Regency is 77.68% determined by population density (X1), altitude (X2), settlement area (X3), shoreline distance (X4) and rainfall (X5) and the remaining 22.32% are influenced by other variables which are not investigated. Geographically, the predictor variables explain the DHF incidence with a strong category in the central region, and weak in coastal area.

Abstract

Based on observations, information was obtained that the elderly hypertension rate was quite high (70%) in Ngaran II Hamlet. Some of the possible causes are the lack of knowledge and public awareness about non-communicable diseases (NCD), in addition to the lack of cadres and equipment. This causes the Posyandu not to run optimally. Integrated activities for field supervisors and students include forming a NCD care group. NCD prevention and screening training was given to members of the NCD Care group, with material on blood pressure checks, simple blood tests and determination of body mass index. At the beginning and end of the training, an evaluation was conducted to assess the level of knowledge of the participants. The NCD care group consists of 9 health cadres. The training methods include theory, discussion, and practice. Participants were aged between 36-54 years (43.6) with 55.56% high school education and 44.44% junior high school education. Of the 9 participants, only 7 completed the test. It can be seen that there is an increase in knowledge from the average pretest score of 45.54 to 68.75 post-test score. Statistical test using Paired T-test showed a significant increase (p 0.001). It was concluded that the training succeeded in significantly increasing knowledge about NCDs and their prevention

Abstract

Lymphatic filariasis is one of the diseases that cause disability which difficult to detect early. One of the filariasis controls is to screen the people who are risk in a possible endemic area to do the early diagnose and early treatment. In the beginning of2007, Klaten had been reported to have 4 filariasis patients and of them is lives in Puluhan village, Jatinom Subdistrict. A prevalence epidemiological survey and a social economic risk factors survey must be done at the people around the patient for filariasis elimination program. The aim of this study is to describe the prevalence and the social economic risk factors of the people who live in Puluhan and Gempol village. A cross-sectional research was done in August 2007 on both Puluhan ’s and Gempol ’s villagers at night (20.00-22.00 am) then identify the microfilaria with thick blood sample method. The social economic risk factor is measured from education, occupation, and salary level. There was 223 subject whose the periphery blood was taken (age mean = 42,3 year; 61,83% are women) and the result of Mf-rate was 0. It is mean that there was no filariasis spreading in this area. The social economic factors show that the people of Puluhan and Gempol village have the education factor of non-school person (50%), the occupation factor of unemployed person (29%) and laborer (26,9%), and salary factor of less than Rp. 600.000,- a month (93%)Penyakit limfatik filariasis adalah salah satu penyakit penyebab kecacatan yang sukar untuk dideteksi awal.

Abstract

The ecoprint batik training program was implemented as part of the Community Service Program in Potro Hamlet, Purwobinangun Village, Pakem District, Sleman Regency, D.I Yogyakarta on January 24th - February 23rd 2025. This program is a flagship program of Community Service activities UMY. This program aims to improve the skills and creativity of the community, especially PKK mothers, in creating craft products with economic value through the utilization of local natural resources. This training is expected to introduce the potential of Potro Hamlet as an ecoprint center, increase community interest in ecoprint activities, and optimize its use as a source of additional income. The training methods include socialization, preparation of natural materials (leaves with pigments and tannins), introduction to basic pounding techniques, direct practice, and evaluation. The pounding technique was chosen because of its simplicity, allowing participants to directly practice making ecoprint motifs by hitting leaves on cloth. Success is measured by participant enthusiasm, understanding of techniques, and ability to implement ecoprint techniques. The results showed a significant increase in participants' skills in making ecoprint batik. The PKK mothers showed high enthusiasm in participating in the training, successfully understood the basic pounding technique, and were able to produce simple yet aesthetic ecoprint products. The discussion showed that the ecoprint training succeeded in improving community skills, opening up new economic potential through the utilization of local natural resources, and supporting the development of environmentally friendly fashion products. This activity also fostered a sense of love for the environment and increased awareness of the importance of using environmentally friendly materials in everyday life. The ecoprint training had a positive impact on improving the skills and economic potential of the Potro Hamlet community. The implications of the results indicate the need for the continuation of similar training programs, accompanied by marketing assistance and product development to maximize the potential of ecoprint as a source of additional income and local identity
