Abstract

One of the risks which is faced by catfish farmers frequently is production risk. The existence of production risk encourages farmers to make decisions to allocate production inputs. The behavior of farmers in facing production risk will be the basis for making decisions related allocation of production inputs to be used in catfish farming. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the use of production factors on production and production risk of catfish farming in Kediri District. Data in this study used primary data which is obtained from observations and structured interviews. The type of cross section data is gained from 40 catfish farmers. Descriptive and inferential statistical analysis method is used to analyse the data in this study. Analysis of production function data and production risk with the Just and Pope model approach. This study depicts that feed use and years of farming experience have a significant influence on catfish farming production. Increasing farming experience has a significant effect in terms of reducing production risk of catfish farming. Catfish farmers should use good quality of catfish seeds, improve their skills in cultivation techniques continuously, and communicate horizontally with fellow catfish farmers in order to be perceptive in exchanging experiences. Farmers must increase their experience to mitigate production risks.

Abstract

Introduction: The increase in the purse seine fishing fleet and the decline in tuna production will have an impact on the decline in CPUE (Catch Per Unit Effort) per year. The CPUE trend that continues to decline every year is feared to have a negative impact on fish resource stocks and even the tendency of overfishing. Therefore, to overcome the existing problems, an integrated approach to fisheries management is needed through the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM). This study aims to assess the status and formulate management actions for tuna fisheries based in the Pasongsongan Coastal Fishing Port (PPP), Sumenep Regency. Methods: The types and sources of data used in this research are primary and secondary data. Primary data were collected through survey and observation methods. Interviews were conducted with 40 randomly selected purse seine fishermen respondents, as well as 1 employee of the Sumenep District Fisheries Office. Secondary data were collected through existing data such as tuna catch, number of trips, number of purse seine fleets, fish prices. Analysis was conducted through an indicator approach using the Multi Criteria Analysis (MCA) approach. Results: The results of the analysis show that the institutional domain shows a very good status, while for the domains of fish resources, fishing techniques, and social with good status, then the economic domain has a moderate status. Conclusion: Based on these indicators, the management status of tuna resources based in the Pasongsongan Coastal Fishing Port is generally in good condition.

Abstract

Abstract

Tuna resources have an important economic value and are spread across most of Indonesian waters, ranging from western Indonesian waters to eastern Indonesian waters. One of the distributions of tuna fish in Indonesia is East Java Province. Tuna fishing business is an economic activity carried out by small-scale fishermen by combining resources such as fishing costs, fishing experience, frequency of fishing, ship tonnage, engine power, and the amount of fuel used for fishing) to achieve the main goal of making a profit. This research is important to determine the factors that affect the productivity of tuna fishing business, analyze the allocative efficiency of the factors of production of tuna fishing business, and analyze the profits obtained by fishermen in their business of catching tuna in the waters of Prigi south of East Java. The research method used is descriptive through observation interviews and documentation. This research was conducted on tuna fish fishermen on the coast of Prigi, East Java Regency. The results showed that the conclusion of the factors that affect the productivity of tuna fishing business are fishing costs, fishing experience, frequency of fishing and ship tonnage. The use of fishing costs, frequency of fishing, and ship tonnage used by fishermen still has not reached the allocatively efficient level. The average production cost per year incurred is still relatively high, not proportional to the profit earned each year. This is because the biggest cost incurred is the cost of diesel fuel.

Abstract

The Complete Systematic Land Registration (PTSL) program's successful implementation hinges on satisfying the physical and juridical data requirements for individual land plots owned by a single person. However, our research highlights disparities between juridical and physical data for specific land plots. Moreover, a lack of community awareness regarding the crucial role of land data collection presents significant challenges in the field. A notable obstacle, as outlined in Article 22(2) of the Regulation of the Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency of the Republic of Indonesia No. 6 of 2018, pertains to individuals applying for land registration through the PTSL Program without fulfilling complete requirements or providing proof of land ownership. This non-compliance poses a potential catalyst for disputes during the PTSL land registration process. As of early 2017, Indonesia harbored 126,000,000 land parcels, with only 51,000,000 certified and 79,000,000 awaiting official registration, earmarked for acceleration through PTSL. Our focus on Malang Regency in East Java, spanning an expansive 3,534.86 km² or 353,486 ha, reveals its active participation in the PTSL program. Notably, the region faces a substantial PTSL quota of 55,000 land parcels in 2023, distributed across 19 villages in 5 sub-districts, marking the highest quota in East Java Province. The research also underscores the pressing need for enhanced community awareness and compliance with PTSL requirements, particularly focusing on the potential disputes arising from inadequate documentation during the land registration process.
