Abstract

Faba bean (Vicia faba L.) is a highland legume having potential for soil conservation. Upscaling faba bean cultivation requires initial inquiry on its growth and yield. In this research, we have investigated faba bean’s growth and yield in different location (high tunnel and open field) under different population density (1, 2, and 3 plants per pot). We found that interaction between location and population has significant effect on number of leaves, shoot fresh weight, shoot root ratio, and pods weight. Location and population independently have significant effect on plant height, root fresh weight, shoot dry weight, and root dry weight. Cultivation in tunnel, be it in narrow and large planting density, has resulted in higher plants, heavier shoot dry matter, yet lighter root dry matter. Meanwhile, growing single seed per pot has resulted in higher plant and heavier root dry matter. This was applicable in both tunnel and open field. We did not find different chlorophyll content among treatments, therefore we concluded that location and population did not influence leave chlorophyll.

Abstract

Desa Sumberejo di Kabupaten Magelang dan Desa Cukilan d i Kabupaten Semarang Provinsi Jawa Tengah bercita-cita menjadi desa agrowisata. Penguatan UMKM desa menjadi pilar penting untuk menopang agrowisata. Salah satu yang berpotensi menjadi andalan UMKM adalah olahan pangan komoditas lokal. Salah satu bahan baku yang dapat dikombinasikan dengan bahan lokal untuk menciptakan variasi produk adalah tepung gandum utuh (whole wheat flour) lokal. Peneliti Pusat Studi Gandum Tropika UKSW melatih para calon pengusaha UMKM membuat variasi olahan pangan kombinasi komoditas lokal dan tepung gandum utuh lokal. Pelatihan di Desa Cukilan dilaksanakan tanggal 15 Oktober 2022 di Balai Desa dan diikuti oleh 19 peserta. Pelatihan di Desa Sumberejo dilakukan tanggal 19 November 2022 di Balai Desa dan diikuti oleh 21 peserta. Olahan yang dibuat adalah nugget sayur, bolen pisang, dan kue ketawa. Peserta sangat antusias dan menunjukkan minat yang tinggi untuk berlatih. Mereka mendekat ke narasumber, mengajukan pertanyaan tentang bahan dan manfaatnya, serta berlomba mencicipi hasil olahan. Terdapat respon positif dari peserta maupun perangkat desa sehingga mereka ingin pelatihan dilakukan lagi dengan metode praktik langsung. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan ini akan dilaksanakan kembali supaya para calon pengusaha UMKM menjadi lebih terampil dan kompeten.

Abstract

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) is the most widely distributed mycorrhizal fungi in the soil and can make a symbiosis with the roots of host plants to form arbuscular mycorrhizal symbionts. Intercropping is a practice of polyculture cropping where two or more plant species are simultaneously cultivated in the same field. The objective of this study was to define the effect of intercropping on the density and diversity of mycorrhizal spores. In this study, potatoes and faba beans, both of which have the ability to symbiosis with mycorrhizae, were intercropped. A randomized group design with 5 planting system treatments was employed in this study with 5 replications. The results concluded that density of mycorrhizal spores in the intercropping planting pattern was not statistically different from the density of mycorrhiza in the monoculture cultivation pattern. The types of mycorrhiza found included the genus of Glomus, Funneliformis, Scutellospora, Cetraspora, Septoglomus, and Entrophospora Keywords: pH; Root exudate; Spore density, Spore identification; Spore diversity.

Abstract

Research on the effects of growing medium mixtures of strawberry’s (Fragaria vesca L.) growth as ornamental plants in vertical garden was implemented from April to July 2016 in anexperimental field in Salaran Getasan Village. The purpose of this study were to 1) investigate the effects of different organic medium mixtures containing soil and rice husk, cocopeat, on compost banana stem on strawberry’s growth and 2) determine the best mixture for strawberry’s vertical system. The study was conducted using a randomized block design (RBD) with 10 treatments and four replications. The treatments included different compositions of soil and each material with a mixture ratio of 1: 1, 1: 2 and 2: 1. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and DMRT at 5% of error level as well as correlation test. Mixing organic medium as rice husk, cocopeat and compost banana stem with soil provided a significant influence on the number of leaves, number of Mixing organic medium as rice husk, cocopeat and compost banana stem with soil provided a significant influence on the number of leaves, number of shoot and shoot’s dry weight. The best growing medium mixture for strawberry’s growth was soil and rice husk with a ratio 2:1.

Abstract

The research toward 19 genotypes of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in medium plain has been done on May – September 2016. In Sidorejo Kidul Village, Tingkir Sub-district, Salatiga City, Central Java Province. The height of this plain is ±550 min above of sea surface. The purpose of the researcher is to know the appearance and the result potency of 19 genotypes of wheat in the medium plain in dray season and to get genotype which has better result in medium plain in dray season. This research is done in form of experiment in open land. The experiment is arranged based on Group Random Plan (GRP) by planting 19 genotypes in three land plot. Genotype is a treatment and land plot is a group. Growth can be seen from the blooming time, the height of the plant, harvest time and the sum of plant in each clump. While the appearance of the result the length of malai, the sum of spikeler in each malai, the sum of seed in each malai, the weight of 1000 seeds, the weight of seed in each m2 and the weight of 1 liter of seed. The result estimation is based on the length of malai, the sum of spikelet in each malai and the sum of seed in each malai.Obtained genotypes QUAIU, WBLL * 2KURUKU, PRL / 2 * PASTOR, O / HP-82-A-15-1-4, O / HP-12-A1-1-9, O / HP-78-A22-3- 7, O / HP-6-A8-2-10, O / HP-22-A27-1-10, O / HP-12-A5-1-3, O / HP-12-A5-4-5, O / HP-82-A15-2-3, Guri 3 and Guri 5. Thirteen genotypes have good yields in research.

Abstract

Desa Cukilan di Kabupaten Semarang Provinsi Jawa Tengah memiliki potensi talas kimpul (Xanthosoma sagittifolium) menjadi komoditas andalan desa. Ada 11 warga desa Cukilan yang berkomitmen membentuk kelompok usaha terpadu untuk mengolah kimpul menjadi produk bernilai jual tinggi, melakukan pemasaran, dan mengembangkan kebun kimpul sebagai penyedia bahan baku. Cita-cita mereka terkendala minimnya ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan ketrampilan. Melalui kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini, pengusul dan mitra calon usahawan hendak: 1) Meningkatkan penerapan ipteks oleh mitra untuk menciptakan variasi olahan kimpul serta memasarkannya secara luas, 2) Meningkatkan penerapan ipteks dan wawasan lingkungan oleh petani dalam mengelola kebun kimpul, dan 3) Menerapkan manajemen usaha hulu-hilir kimpul yang terpadu dan kolaboratif antar anggota usaha pengolahan kimpul, anggota pemasaran, dan petani. Terdapat tiga fokus kegiatan yaitu: a) Pelatihan dan pendampingan anggota untuk menciptakan dan memasarkan tepung dan snack kimpul yang berkualitas, higienis, dan menarik, b) Pelatihan dan pendampingan petani untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dan keberlanjutan kebun kimpul, dan c) Pendampingan manajemen usaha terpadu. Selama kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan berlangsung, telah dihasilkan produk berupa tepung kimpul Cukilandz dan beberapa olahannya, pembibitan kimpul, akun pemasaran online, keikutsertaan dalam ekspo/pameran pangan maupun pertanian, penjualan tepung kimpul, serta sinergi antara pengusaha olahan, pemasar, dan petani. Kemampuan dan ketrampilan mitra pun bertambah baik dari aspek pengolahan hasil kimpul, pemasaran, maupun pengelolaan kebun.

Abstract

Laughing Cookies are a traditional snack made from local whole wheat flour (Gaul). Cookie dough added with kimpul flour is one of the innovative efforts to process the abundant kimpul commodity in Cukilan Village, Semarang Regency, Central Java. This study aimed to determine the panelists' functional characteristics and level of preference for the laugh cookies made from local whole wheat flour. The laugh cookies are made with three formulations, namely A (1:0), B (1:1), and C (1:2) (Gaul flour: kimpul flour ratio). The results of the hedonic test with the parameters texture, color, aroma, taste, and overall showed that the fifty panelists liked formulations A, B, and C, respectively, with a score of 3.7-3.8 respectively (neutral – somewhat like); 3.1-3.6 (neutral – somewhat like), and 2.9-3.4 (dislike - neutral). Based on the panelists' preference for Formulations A and B, these two formulas were tested for fiber. The crude fiber content in formulations A and B was 42.74% and 46.22%, respectively. Based on the study's results, it can be concluded that the formulation of the laugh cookies has a different effect on the level of preference and crude fiber. The best treatment was formulation A, with the highest preference level and high oil fiber.

Abstract

Cultivating plants vertically (wall garden) can overcome the reduced availability of land, plants are planted on vertical panels or specially designed wall structures. This research aims to determine the growth, yield and quality of wall garden mint leaves grown using various mixtures of coconut fiber, husk charcoal and soil. The experiment was designed in a Complete Randomized Block Design with six treatments: T (soil), S (husk charcoal), K (coconut charcoal 1: soil 1), K1S2T1 (coconut fiber 1: charcoal husk 2: soil 1), K1S1T2 (coconut fiber 1: charcoal husk 1: soil 2). The composition of the planting media composition of coconut fiber, husk charcoal and soil in the wall garden system has a real influence on the growth of Mint Plants. Abstract

Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) is one of the cereal plants that can be used as animal feed. “Miting Tadda” sorghum variety has the potential to be cultivated in Central Java, precisely in Getasan Sub-district. Currently, the optimal macronutrient recommendations including nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) for sorghum cultivation in Central Java are not yet known. The fertilizer dosage for sorghum plants that has been found in the literature is not specific to the Miting Tadda sorghum type and the type of soil in Getasan. This study aimed to determine the effect of various fertilizer doses on the productivity and quality of seeds and greens of Miting Tadda sorghum variety. The study was conducted at the Science Techno Park, Faculty of Agriculture and Business, Satya Wacana Christian University. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 5 fertilizer dose treatments (g per plant), namely: without fertilizer, 2.44 N + 0.5 P₂O₅ + 0.45 K₂O, 3.69 N + 0.5 P₂O₅ + 0.45 K₂O, 4.89 N + 0.5 P₂O₅ + 0.45 K₂O, 6.08 N + 0.5 P₂O₅ + 0.45 K₂O. The experiment was conducted in 4 groups as replications so that there were 20 experimental units. The results showed that based on the results of the ANOVA test, there was no significant effect of the NPK fertilizer dose treatment in the range given in this study on the components of sorghum seed and forage productivity and the quality of sorghum seeds and forage was relatively the same in all treatments. The use of fertilizers in low doses or even without fertilizer can be an alternative in sorghum cultivation.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh dosis pupuk NPK yang berbeda terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil panen sorgum lokal Sumba Timur Watar Hammu Manippa Tadda. Metode Penelitian: Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan percobaan Fakultas Pertanian dan Bisnis Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Perlakuan disusun pada 4 blok (kelompok). Setiap blok berukuran 3,5 x 2,25 m dengan jarak tanam 50x50 cm sehingga diperoleh 20 satuan percobaan dengan tanaman per blok/kelompok adalah 35 tanaman. Data pertumbuhan diambil setiap 1 minggu sekali. Data produktivitas diambil setelah tanaman memasuki masa panen dan kadar air biji mencapai 15-20%. Data pertumbuhan dianalisis menggunakan metode statistik deskriptif (rerata dan standar deviasi). Data hasil panen (produktivitas) dianalisis menggunakan metode analisis of variance (ANOVA)/analisis sidik ragam dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95%, Jika terdapat pengaruh maka dilanjutkan dengan uji BNT dengan tingkat kepercayaan 0,05. Hasil Penelitian: Tadda. Hasil percobaan menunjukan perlakuan pupuk NPK menunjukkan pertumbuhan yang optimal dengan perkembangan morfologi yang baik dan adaptif pada komponen pertumbuhan. Komponen hasil menunjukan perlakuan pupuk NPK perlakuan dosis pupuk N tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap panjang malai sampel, bobot biji sampel dan ubinan, Bobot kering malai sampel dan ubinan, Bobot kering daun tanaman sampel, bobot kering batang ubinan, Bobot kering akar sampel, usia panen sampel dan ubinan, indeks panen biji sampel, dan estimasi produksi biji ubinan namun berpengaruh nyata pada bobot kering batang sampel, bobot kering daun ubinan, dan Indeks panen biji ubinan.
