Abstract

Paddy field is a natural resource and have an important role in maintaining the stability of the community's food (rice) production. Banyubiru District is one of the biggest contributors in supplying the rice needs of the people in Semarang Regency. So that the research aims to identify the extent and rate of change in the use of rice fields from 2008 to 2018 in Banyubiru District. The research approach used is based on geographic information systems in analyzing satellite images. The satellite imagery used is multi-resolution imagery such as Landsat 5 TM in 2008, Worldview-2 in 2013, and SPOT 6 in 2018. Image interpretation uses a pixel-based classification method with the maximum likelihood method and on-screen digitization found in ENVI 5.3 and ArcGis software. 10.8. The land use classification system used refers to following the Indonesian National Standard 7654: 201. The results of the study explained that there had been a change in the area of paddy land use in the Banyubiru District from 2008 to 2013 of 68 ha and from 2013 to 2018 of 65 ha. In addition, the rate of land use change from 2008 to 2018 was 14.78 ha / year, so this event can be categorized as a class of rapid land change rate.

Abstract

This research was conducted in West Umbu Ratu Nggay district of Central Sumba Region in January–March 2017. The method of analysis used was LQ (Location Quotient) method, matching method and overlay method. The results showed that the maim food commodities in West Umbu Ratu Nggay District were green beans with values of LQ 1,60; sweet potato with LQ 1,33, rice with LQ 1,16; and corn with LQ 1,03. Green beans suitability class is S2 (moderatelly suitable) with area 28.021,13 ha (99.69%) and N (not suitable) with area 87.91 ha (0.31%). Sweet potato commodity with land suitability is in class S1 (highly suitable) with area 90,41 ha (0.32%), S2 (moderatelly suitable) with of 27.930,73 ha (99.7%), and N (not suitable) with area 87,91 ha (0.31%). Commodity of rice with land suitability class S1 (highly suitable) with area of 1.322,43 ha (4.70%), S2 (moderatelly suitable) with area of 26.704,21 ha (95.00%), and N (not suitable) with area of 83,24 ha (0.30%). Corn commodity with land suitability class S2 (moderatelly suitable) with area of 8.21,13 ha (99.69%) and N (not suitable) with area of 87,91 ha (0.31%). ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilakukan di Kecamatan Umbu Ratu Nggay Barat Kabupaten Sumba Tengah pada bulan Januari-Maret 2017. Komodias ubi jalar  dengan kelas kesesuaian lahan S1 (sangat sesuai) dengan luas 90, 41 ha (0,32%), S2 (cukup sesuai) dengan luas 27.930,73 ha (99,37%), dan N (tidak sesuai) 87,91 ha (0,31%). Komoditas padi sawah dengan kelas kesesuaian lahan S1 (sangat sesuai) 1.322, 43 ha (4,70%). S2 (cukup sesuai) 26.704,21 ha (95,00%), dan N (tidak sesuai) 83,24 ha (0,30%). Komoditas jagung dengan kelas kesesuaian lahan S2 (cukup sesuai) 28.021,13 ha (99,69%) dan N (tidak sesuai) 87,91 ha (0,31%).

Lewa is one of districts in East Sumba Regency, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) Province. It is characterized by dry land, its agriculture depends on rain. The main commodities are Oryza sativa and Zeamays. Due to lack of water, the cropping pattern design is vital. One of methods for designing crroping pattern is water balance analysis. The aim of this study was to understand water balance status and to decide the cropping pattern based of paddy and corn farming in Lewa District. The NRCS Java Newhall Simulation Model (jNSM) was adopted for water balance modeling. The water balance status then was mapped by using the Arc view software for showing total water availability in Lewa district. There were two zones: I (water availability 413 mm/year) and II (water availability: 868 mm/year). Based on the water availability, the zone I could be designed one period a year in rainy season (December-April) with cropping option paddy or corn. While zone II could be planted two times with cropping option corn-paddy or corn-corn.

Abstract

The regency of Sumba Tengah in the province of East Nusa Tenggara relies on rainfall to support its dry land agriculture hence should be supported with land suitability evaluation and cropping pattern design for a more sustainable crop production. This study aims to evaluate land suitability for food crops in Sumba Tengah and formulate the appropriate precipitation-based cropping patterns. This work was carried out from March to June 2015. Stages of research were: 1) characterizing land attributes (climate and soil) by soil analysis and desk study, 2) assessing land suitability level by comparing land attributes and crops requirements, and 3) composing feasible cropping patterns by using water balance method. Soils of Sumba Tengah varied from sandy to clayey with low to neutral pH and low to very high content of organic carbon and nitrogen. Phosphate and potassium availability was very low. Sumba Tengah was exposed to only four wet months a year with annual precipitation of less than 2000 mm. This region was highly and moderately suitable for growing paddy, maize, tubers, and legumes. It was not suitable for wheat. Some of the northern part was arable merely for one cropping season in a year, mostly from December to April, with the alternative of growing paddy or other crops. The remaining was likely to cultivate for two cropping seasons. Legumes were recommended to include in the rotation for soil conservation. Shortage of irrigation led to the unlikeliness of three cropping seasons in a year.

Abstract

Produktifitas sawi pakcoy lebih optimal bila ditanam pada tanah yang subur. Pemberian biochar mampu meningkatkan kesuburan di dalam tanah. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian biochar terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman sawi pakcoy. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian dan Bisnis Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana yang berlokasi di Salaran, Desa Wates, Kecamatan Getasan, Kabupaten Semarang pada bulan Maret hingga April 2019. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan tujuh perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Analisis data menggunakan Analisis Sidik Ragam (ANOVA) dan uji Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ). Hasil penelitian menunjukan pemberian biochar 20 t/ha mampu meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman sawi pakcoy, dimana pada pemberian biochar 20 t/ha terjadi peningkatan jumlah daun, luas daun, berat segar tanaman, berat kering tanaman, dan hasil panen per hektarnya sebesar 1.58 t/ha.
