Abstract

Gender merupakan konstruksi dan realitas sosial yang memuat pandangan nilai dan norma yang ideal tentang hubungan sosial laki-laki dan perempuan di masyarakat. Gender merupakan realitas sosial yang umum di masyarakat seperti halnya masyarakat Batak Pakpakdesa Pegagan Julu VIII, Kabupaten Dairi. Sesungguhnya gender bukan menjadi persoalan sepanjang tidak melahirkan gap atau ketimpangan sosial seperti diskriminasi dan ketidakadilan terlebih pada perempuan. Dalam masyarakat Batak Pakpak yang menganut sistem budaya patriarki menunjukkan bahwa realitas gender berpotensi memunculkan berbagai isu ketimpangan gender yang berpotensi merugikan kehidupan perempuan dalam aspek pendidikan, kesehatan, pembangunan dan politik. Konstruksi budaya patriarki yang tidak ramah pada perempuan dipresentasikan oleh keputusan adat yang cenderung tidak berpihak pada perempuan melalui kekuasaan tokoh-tokoh adat di lembaga adat. Tokoh-tokoh adat yang berkuasa di lembaga adat ini menempatkan laki-laki sebagai penentu keputusan adat yang kerapkali menjadi penentu keteraturan sosial(social order) masyarakat di desa ini. Mengingat pengaruh kuasa tokoh-tokoh adat yang mayoritas laki-laki menentukan jalannya keteraturan masyarakat termasuk pembangunan desa diperlukan satu strategi sebagai solusi mengantisipasi gap atau ketimpangan gender yang merugikan perempuan. Dalam hal ini diperlukan pengabdian yaitu pemberdayaan gender untuk menumbuh kembangkan pemahaman kesadaran gender dan kesetaraan gender pada tokoh adat. Hal ini mengingat sampai sejauh ini pemberdayaan konsepsi tentang nilai-nilai kesadaran gender serta kesetaraan gender belum menyentuh wilayah tokoh adat yang berkuasa di lembaga adat di desa ini. Diharapkan setelah melakukan pemberdayaan gender melalui pengabdian akan terjadi transformasi gender yaitu perubahan mindset atau carapandang para tokoh adat yang bias gender menjadi sadar gender. Pemberdayaan gender pada tokoh adat sebagai langkah strategis mendukung perempuan berperan aktif setara dengan laki-laki mengakses program pembangunan yang diintodusir pemerintah ke dalam masyarakat desa termasuk desa Pegagan Julu VIII.

Abstract

This paper is derived from case studies conducted on Pakpak women by cross-strata and status in domestic family institutions and customary institutions as public institutions in the village of Pegagan Julu VIII with qualitative feminist methods. The feminist method emphasizes the research process that involves women through their life experiences in cases of indigenous marginalization experienced by them in their communities. Sources of data from women's life experiences which are also voiced by women themselves. Data collection techniques used FGD (Focus Group Discussion), in-depth interviews and participant observation of women who became research informants. The results of the study show that Pakpak women are cross-social strata with the potential to be indigenous conservationists, ironically, the reality is not directly proportional to their authority or authority to make decisions in any customary or customary work. The reason is that the dominance of patriarchal culture which is still strong in prioritizing men and lacking respect for women has influenced the weak bargaining position of women. The consequences that arise are that most customary practices and values are less pro-women, both at the family level and in the community. They experience exploitation especially from the poor strata, so that the poverty that is already heavy is faced by women, the more the burden of adat that must be borne by women. As a result women have the potential to experience double poverty (double poverty) and even tend to experience situations of alienation from their customs.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the construction of women's gender ideology through cases of marginalization of women in the Pakpak community in Pegagan Julu VIII, Dairi District, North Sumatra. The approach method used is qualitative with a feminist perspective case study design. Through the case study method, the existing data is developed with a variety of facts into a single case, so that the related data is fully utilized to achieve a deep and complete analysis. Data collection techniques used FGD (Focus Group Discussion), in-depth interviews and participant observation on women who became research informants. The results of the study showed that the construction of Pakpak women's gender ideology in the family was a patriarchal gender ideology that was attached to Pakpak women's values

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the process and stages of empowerment carried out by the Tourism and Culture Office of Pakpak Bharat Regency to Pokdarwis Mersada Asa Maju in developing Kuta Jungak village tourism. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The results showed that the concept of community empowerment has been applied in the village of Kuta Jungak. The empowerment program was carried out by the Pakpak Bharat Regency Tourism and Culture Office to the Mersada Asa Maju Pokdarwis. The concept of community empowerment through the awareness stage, capacity stage and empowerment stage. Community empowerment in the development of Kuta Jungak village tourism, is characterized by the existence of supporting factors and inhibiting factors. The supporting factors consist of: the village head, the potential of Kuta Jungak village, local wisdom, institutions, security and order in the village of Kuta Jungak and the BUMDes of Kuta Jungak. While the inhibiting factors include facilities and infrastructure (consisting of access to tourist objects, signs or directions, cleaning facilities), lack of motivation, funds and budget, human resources include knowledge, skills, ethics and community behavior

Abstract

Society expects men to behave in a masculine manner and fulfill traditional male roles, while women are expected to behave in a feminine manner and exhibit normal heterosexual behavior, such as engaging in sexual relations with the opposite sex. The existence of transgender individuals in society is often perceived as deviant. The purpose of this research is to examine the community's stereotypes towards transgender individuals in Pematangsiantar City and the adaptation strategies implemented by transgender individuals who are accepted in society. This research employs a mixed-method approach, with a focus on qualitative data analysis supplemented by quantitative data. The results of this study indicate that various negative stereotypes are associated with transgender individuals in Pematangsiantar City. Consequently, transgender individuals must use various strategies and make efforts to adapt and be accepted as themselves and as members of society. This research can serve as a reference for addressing social life and social status as a transgender individual amidst society.

Abstract

The reality of the persistence of the Toba Batak Christian widows indicates a different habitus to that of most other widows who tend to remarry. This paper aims to determine the habitus that underlies the survival of Toba Batak Christian widows after divorce and divorce by using the theoretical framework or the habitus concept of Pierre Bourdiau. While the research method used in this study is a feminist qualitative research method that emphasizes women as the subject/center of research. Furthermore, it was found that the persistence of Toba Batak Christian widow women to live as widows was related to their habitus as women who have to be strong, hard-working, independent, and tough to support their children. This habitus is obtained from several dimensions of social capital. First, the cultural value of anakonki do hamo-raon diau (children are the most valuable treasure). Second, religious values, namely surrender and surrender of life to God by diligently praying and active-ly worshiping in churches and third, family values in the form of moral and material support from the closest family. This habitus creates a new image that the Toba Batak Christian widow is a hardworking, independent, and strong woman. Abstrak Realitas kebertahanan janda Kristen Batak Toba menjanda meng-isyaratkan habitus yang berbeda dengan habitus kebanyakan janda lain yang berkecenderungan menikah kembali. Tulisan ini bertujuan mengetahui habitus yang mendasari kebertahanan janda Kristen Batak Toba menjanda pasca cerai mati dan cerai hidup dengan menggunakan kerangka teori atau konsep habitus Pierre Bourdiau. Sedangkan metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam studi ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif feminis yang menekankan perempuan seba-gai subyek/sentral penelitian. Selanjutnya, diperoleh bahwa kebertahanan pe-rempuan janda Kristen Batak Toba untuk hidup menjanda ternyata berkaitan dengan habitus mereka sebagai perempuan yang harus kuat, pekerja keras, mandiri dan tangguh menghidupi anak-anaknya. Habitus ini diperoleh dari beberapa dimensi modal sosial. Pertama, nilai budaya anakonki do hamoraon diau (anak adalah harta yang paling berharga). Kedua, nilai religius yaitu berserah dan penyerahan hidup pada Tuhan dengan tekun berdoa dan aktif beribadah di gereja dan ketiga, nilai keluarga berupa dukungan moril dan materiil dari keluarga terdekat. Habitus ini menumbuhkan pencitraan baru bahwa janda Kristen Batak Toba merupakan sosok perempuan pekerja keras, mandiri dan kuat

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis dampak pernikahan dini terhadap tingkat perceraian, dan masalah remaja yang menikah dini setelah memutuskan untuk bercerai. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dilakukan di Desa Ujung Kubu, Kabupaten Batu Bara. Pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, dokumentasi, dan wawancara. Analisis data menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data, penarikan kesimpulan. Uji keabsahan digunakan confirmability, tranfebility, defendability. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan; 1) pernikahan dini meningkatkan angka perceraian karena; ketidaksiapan mental, belum sanggup menafkahi keluarga, belum memiliki pekerjaan tetap, bergantung pada orangtua, pemikiran masih labil, perselingkuhan, belum memiliki batasan tegas pada nilai/norma dalam berinteraksi diluar rumah. 2) Masalah yang dialami setelah bercerai diantaranya; menjadi topik pembicaraan masyarakat karna status janda/duda diumur yang masih muda, putusnya hubungan silaturahmi antar keluarga mantan suami/istri. Kesimpulannya bahwa menikah dini memberikan dampak negatif bagi remaja dan menyumbang angka perceraian. Kata kunci: pernikahan dini, perceraian, desa ujung kubu

Abstract

Pengaruh kondisi ekonomi keluarga mengakibatkan timbulnya anak jalanan yang melibatkan anak melakukan pekerjaan seharusnya tidak dilakukan, dengan anak bekerja akan membantu meringankan beban orang tuanya. Hal ini disebabkan kondisi ekonomi yang sulit, tingkat pendidikan rendah dan keterbatasan kemampuan dalam memenuhi kebutuhan anak. Akibatnya, tanggung jawab orang tua dipindahkan kepada anak untuk membantu memberikan kontribusi finansial dalam keluarga. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pendapatan orang tua yang minim tidak cukup untuk dalam memenuhi kebutuhan sehari-hari dan kebutuhan sekolah. Orang tua mengizinkan anaknya bekerja sebagai pengamen badut karena keluarga menghadapi kesulitan ekonomi. Uang yang dihasilkan tidak cukup untuk membeli makan, membeli perlengkapan sekolah serta membeli kebutuhan lainnya. Alasan orang tua membiarkan anak-anak bekerja sebagai pengamen badut melibatkan cara berfikir rasional. Alasan informan pun berbeda-beda. Informan orang tua mengizinkan anaknya bekerja untuk mendapatkan sejumlah uang yang akan dipakai untuk membeli LKS (Lembar Kerja Siswa), membeli kebutuhan sekolah, uang jajan, membayar uang sewa custom badut dan ada inisiatif dari anak sendiri untuk bekerja untuk mengurangi beban orang tuanya. Sikap orang tua terhadap anaknya yaitu mendukung anak bekerja dengan alasan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan sekolah, mendukung untuk memenuhi ekonomi keluarga, mendukung agar anak mandiri. Budaya dan perjuangan hidup berperan penting dalam mempengaruhi keputusan keluarga untuk melibatkan anak-anak mereka dalam pekerjaan. Nilai-nilai budaya sering memberikan justifikasi bagi pekerjaan anak, sementara kondisi ekonomi yang sulit memaksa keluarga untuk memanfaatkan tenaga kerja anak sebagai strategi bertahan hidup.

Abstract

This research examines the resilience of women survivors of sexual violence who experience social stigma in Jambi City. The qualitative research method is employed with the aim of providing a comprehensive overview of the resilience of female survivors of sexual violence facing social stigma in Jambi City. In reality, instances of sexual violence in this city persist, leading female survivors to endure social stigma and societal judgment. This social stigma contributes to the victims' feelings of sadness and trauma. The social stigma experienced by these survivors includes stereotypes, labeling, and discrimination. Consequently, negative perceptions from society prompt female survivors of violence to undertake resilient efforts to overcome the sadness and trauma resulting from sexual violence and the associated stigma.

Abstract

The Social Construction of the Quality Family Village in Pondok Batu Village, Bilah Hulu Subdistrict, Labuhanbatu Regency is a strategic effort to improve the quality of life in the community through a participatory approach. This study aims to analyze how the community constructs their social reality in the context of the Quality Family Village program, using the social construction theory perspective of Peter L. Berger. The research method employed is qualitative, with data collection through interviews, observations, and documentary studies. The results show that the processes of externalization, objectivation, and internalization are key in building the community's collective awareness of the importance of this program. The community plays an active role in formulating and implementing programs relevant to their needs, thereby creating new norms that support the improvement of quality of life. Furthermore, this study also identifies the challenges faced in the program's implementation, including a lack of understanding and participation from some segments of the community. Therefore, further efforts are needed to enhance the socialization and education about the Quality Family Village program in order to achieve the expected goals.
