Abstract

Mastery of AutoCAD software for engineering students is very necessary to assist in technical drawing. Training using AutoCAD software for engineering students at Nusa Putra University can help them to better understand design in both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional drawing using AutoCAD software. The training was carried out in 3 sessions, namely a theoretical presentation session by the resource person, followed by a drawing practicum which was attended by students using computers in the Nusa Putra University engineering laboratory, the last was a question and answer session. This activity received a positive response from students and lecturers so it needs to be held every year.

Abstract

Air compressors are auxiliary machines on board that produce compressed air on board. Compressed air is used as starting air for the main engine when the ship is about to perform maneuvers. On the MV. Maluku 8 there has been a leak in the air reservoir safety valve, where the pressure in the bottle is lacking while the air compressor is working continuously, this will result in damage to the air compressor. This research was conducted using descriptive methods and data collection techniques and interviews that aim to describe the actual situation in fact encountered in practice. Based on the results of the research, while the writer was carrying out the practice, a safety valve leak was found in the air tube (reservoir) due to dirt in the valve. The problem solver of this problem is to provide parts to the savety valve. To maximize performance and prevent air leaks in the compressor system at MV Maluku 8, there are several recommended corrective actions to expedite the performance of the main engine, including maintenance of the air compressor according to the provisions applied and proper PMS implementation.

Abstract

Heavy oil like Heavy Fuel Oil has characteristics of black color, contains solid particles and residues, at low temperatures is very viscous like bitumen. The density value of HFO ranges from 0.92 to 0.99 kg/L with the viscosity on the market 180 and 380 Cst. Differences in bunker locations often result in differences in technical data for the fuel supplied to the ship. The effect that often occurs from changes in the density value is the disruption of the treatment process in the purifier. The decrease in the efficiency of filling the HFO service tank due to overflow in the purifier is the main problem that often arises because of the density value. Based on the phenomena that occur in the post-bunker Heavy fuel Oil purification process, it is necessary to conduct a study in determining the gravity disc in the FO purifier. The study was conducted to provide solutions to engineers on duty on commercial ships in the event of a similar problem. The research was conducted using a case study method on real problems that occurred on board the ship. The assumptions used in solving the problem by limiting the tank where the mixing process is in the settling tank. The remaining HFO fuel in the storage tank is 0%, while the remaining fuel in the settling tank is 4 KL with a specific gravity of 0.993 kg/L from a total volume of 10 KL. HFO supplied during the bunker with a specific gravity of 0.925 kg/L. The study carried out obtained the appropriate gravity disc for HFO with a specific gravity of 0.993, 0.975, and 0.925 kg/L, respectively, 66, 75, and 78 mm. Heating temperatures of 80 and 90OC do not affect the size of the gravity disc. The performance of the purifier can be improved by preventing overflow through a suitable gravity disc determination.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan menguji sebuah prototipe pembangkit listrik portabel dengan sistem hybrid yang menggabungkan energi surya dan angin, dengan tujuan meningkatkan efisiensi dan keandalan pasokan energi di lingkungan dengan variabilitas cuaca tinggi. Sistem ini dirancang untuk memanfaatkan dua sumber energi terbarukan secara simultan, guna mengatasi keterbatasan masing-masing sumber ketika digunakan secara terpisah. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi energi dari kedua sumber memberikan kinerja yang lebih stabil, dengan daya output maksimum yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan penggunaan satu sumber energi saja. Penerapan sistem hybrid ini diharapkan dapat mendukung upaya penyediaan energi yang lebih efisien dan berkelanjutan di daerah terpencil maupun lokasi yang memiliki tantangan cuaca dinamis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan memetakan tingkat kebisingan di bengkel workshop Politeknik Maritim Negeri Indonesia (Polimarin) dan mengidentifikasi area-area yang memerlukan upaya pengendalian kebisingan. Pengukuran kebisingan dilakukan pada beberapa titik di dalam bengkel praktik menggunakan alat pengukur kebisingan (sound level meter). Data tersebut kemudian diolah dengan perangkat lunak Surfer untuk membuat peta kontur tingkat kebisingan di dalam area bengkel. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa tingkat kebisingan tertinggi secara signifikan terpusat di sekitar mesin gerinda pemotong logam, yang merupakan sumber utama kebisingan di lingkungan tersebut. Adapun hasil pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kebisingan yang diperoleh sebesar 92.53 dB untuk pengukuran pukul 09.00 WIB; 92.07 dB pada pengukuran jam 11.00 WIB; dan sebesar 92.01 dB untuk pengukuran pada jam 14.00. Dengan memahami pola kebisingan ini, rekomendasi dan langkah-langkah mitigasi diajukan, termasuk penggantian peralatan, perbaikan isolasi suara, perubahan dalam penjadwalan pekerjaan, serta edukasi dan pelatihan. Penelitian ini memberikan dasar yang kuat untuk mengelola dan memahami kebisingan di bengkel praktik, dengan harapan menjadikannya lingkungan yang lebih aman dan nyaman bagi semua yang berinteraksi di dalamnya.

Abstract

Kegiatan program pengabdian dilaksanakan di sekitar wilayah Ungaran  sesuai dengan arahan dan instruksi dari pimpinan Politeknik Maritim Negeri Indonesia dikarenakan adanya pembangunan kampus baru Polimarin  di wilayah Ngobo Kecamatan Ungaran Timur dengan mengembangkan potensi yang ada di sekitar wilayah desa Beji Kecamatan Ungaran Timur. Pengetahuan tentang las listrik / SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) yaitu suatu proses pengelasan busur listrik perlu dikembangkan agar  dapat   memberikan  bekal  masyarakat sekitar kampus baru yaitu keterampilan mengelas agar  nantinya  bisa  digunakan  untuk  mencari  pekerjaan  dan  dapat  digunakan  untuk  membuka  lapangan  kerja di masyarakat.  Metode  yang digunakan  dalam  pengabdian  ini  adalah memberikan materi  secara teori  mengenai cara pemakaian las jenis SMAW dan peralatan safety yang harus digunakan,  tanya  jawab  dan  praktik  membuat dudukan pot. Hasil Produk dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah tempat untuk meletakkan pot atau dudukan pot. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada masyarakat pengelasan ini didampingi dan dibimbimbing oleh Dosen Prodi Teknika yang mengarahkan peserta mulai dari pemasangan kawat las, setting ampere dan mempraktekan membuat dudukan pot.

Abstract

Technology and information have developed rapidly since entering the 20th century. In the world of industrial engineering, one of the technological developments that emerged was the use of software in drawing designs, by utilizing computerization. One of the popular software in the world of engineering is AutoCAD which displays 2D and 3D object representations. High school students need to be introduced to AutoCAD to spark their interest. This training was held at Rumah Belajar Bangkit Persada Nusantara, implemented online and attended by 10 students. The materials provided included 2D, 3D, and engineering drawings. The results of the activity showed that students were interested in studying AutoCAD. It is hoped that similar activities can be held for more advanced materials and carried out offline to be more interactive and optimal.

Abstract

Bunkering on ships is a very important job with a high risk of danger. Bunkering is moving liquid fuel oil from a bunker barge or bunker terminal. The process of transferring oil has the potential to cause pollution. Pollution can occur if an operational error occurs, such as an overflow, pipe, or bunker hose breaking. Overflow is one factor that most contribute to oil spills during the bunkering process. Oil overflow incidents by ships can result in expensive claims, with cleanup costs, penalties, and environmental damage running into millions of dollars. Studies to reduce the risk of oil pollution from bunkering operations need to continue. This study was carried out to know the implementation of the bunker safety checklist. The study was conducted using a case study method strengthened by a literature study. The study was conducted on board MT. Fatmawati with Dead Weight Tonnase (DWT) 7762 metric tons. The ship is driven by a diesel engine with a power of 2721 kW at 195 RPM. The 100% HFO capacity stored on board is 531.44 m3. The ship can also carry an HSD of 119.77 m3 at 100% capacity—security and safety considerations. The maximum fuel capacity that can be loaded is in the range of 80 - 90%. The study results obtained by implementing the bunker safety checklist in bunkering activities are highly recommended. Bunkering will be well planned, from planning, estimating the fuel loaded, and executing to reporting. Safety requirements and pollution prevention due to oil spills can be avoided with work planned and recorded in a checklist.

Abstract

One method of joining soft metals such as aluminum that is widely used is Friction Stir Welding (FSW). The friction tool is a very important part of FSW. Friction tools are usually made from hardened H13 steel. This research aims to make a friction tool from steel connecting rod bolts used in marine diesel engines. The experimental methods used include FSW tool design, heat treatment of the material at a temperature of 900oC followed by a quenching process with water and salt water cooling media, then continued with material testing (chemical composition test, hardness test, and micrographic test). The test results obtained from the chemical composition test show that the connecting rod bolts include AISI 4145 steel material. The highest hardness value obtained from the connecting rod steel in the saltwater quenching process was 52.67 HRC with a martensite phase, as seen from the micrographic test. Used steel connecting rod bolts from marine diesel engines can be used as FSW friction tool material.

Abstract

Permasalahan umum pengelasan las busur adalah retak saat proses peleburan dan pemadatan, timbulnya porositas, serta hilangnya elemen paduan yang mudah menguap. Penyambungan material lunak dapat dilakukan menggunakan pengelasan aduk gesekan yang disebut Friction Stir Welding (FSW). Alat pengaduk gesekan (Alat FSW) merupakan komponen penting pada pengelasan FSW. Penelitian ini dilakukan beberapa tahapan dengan tujuan menghasilkan alat FSW untuk material aluminium 5083. Studi dilakukan secara eksperimen mencakup desain alat FSW, perlakuan panas dan pengujian material alat FSW dan pembuatan alat FSW. Material dasar alat FSW yang dibuat menggunakan baut connecting rod bekas dari marine diesel engine. Model alat FSW yang dibuat dengan dua jenis pin (silinder berulir dan kerucut berulir). Alat FSW yang dibuat selanjutnya diberikan perlakuan panas suhu 950oC dan diquenching dengan media pendingin air dan oli. Hasil pengujian komposisi kimia menunjukkan baut connecting rod termasuk jenis baja AISI 4145. Hasil pengujian kekerasan nilainya sebesar 52,5 HRC, dan 51,5 HRC dari quenching media air dan oli. Pengujian struktur mikro material tersebut menunjukkan fasa martensit yang sifatnya keras dari proses quenching semua media pendingin. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa material baut connecting rod bisa digunakan sebagai bahan alat FSW setelah diberi perlakuan panas dan quenching dengan media air.
