Abstract

[EFFECT OF CONCENTRATION AND TIME INTERVAL OF BABANDOTAN BIOPESTICIDE SPRAYING ON THE INTENSITY OF DAMAGE AND YIELD OF KAILAN]. Biopesticides from Ageratum conyzoides plants are used as an alternative in pest control. The used of synthetic pesticides was widespread as an effort in pest and disease control because it worked effectively and quickly, but caused resistance and resurgence of pests were bad impact on the environment for long term. The content of active compounds in Ageratum conyzoides plants such as flavonoids, anthraquinone, tannins, terpenes, phenols, saponins, alkaloids and steroids worked as controllers of various cultivated plant pests. This study aims to determine the spraying concentration and interval of spraying Ageratum conyzoides on the intensity of damage and yield of kailan plants. This research was conducted in November 2020 - January 2021 at Agroecotechnopark research land, Diponegoro University, Semarang. The experimental design used was a factorial Randomized Complete Block Design with 3 replications. The first factor was spraying concentration (10%, 30% and 50%) and the second factor was interval of spraying (once every 5 days, 10 days and 15 days). The variables observed were absolute damage rate, relative damage rate, plant height, number of leaves and fresh weight of kailan. Data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance followed by DMRT (Duncan's Multiple Range Test). The results showed that Ageratum conyzoides biopesticide was able to control pests and and to support kailan growth. Spraying babandotan biopesticide at a concentration of 50% has been able to reduce the rate of crop damage by pests, supported vegetative growth, and increased kailan growth to provide optimal yield. Spraying time interval did not affect all variables.

Abstract

Red spinach microgreens are green plants that are consumed by their leaves in 14 days harvest time. This study aimed to examine the effects of LED light color and various planting media on the growth of red spinach microgreens. This research was conducted from June 1 to July 22, 2023, at Sendangguwo, at the Laboratory of Plant Ecology and Production, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture, Diponegoro University, and at the Chem-mix Pratama Laboratory, Yogyakarta. The experimental design was a divided plot design with triplicates. The main plot was the LED light color treatment with four levels: white, red, blue, and green. The subplots were planting media treatments with 3 levels: soil, cocopeat, and vermiculite. The parameters observed included plant height, root length, wet weight, chlorophyll content, carotenoid content, and vitamin C content. The collected data were analyzed using analysis of variance and further tested using Duncan's Multiple Range test. The results showed that the color of white LED lights can increase chlorophyll and carotenoid contents, and in soil planting media, it also increased chlorophyll and carotenoid contents in red spinach microgreens. Cocopeat planting medium increased plant height, and vermiculite planting medium increased wet weight and vitamin C content. In conclusion, the color treatment of white LED lights and soil growing media increased chlorophyll and carotenoid content in red spinach microgreens. Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to increase the insight of PKK Dusun Semen on the process of processing liquid organic fertilizer from water hyacinth and golden snail. Water hyacinth and golden snail are used as basic ingredients for making liquid organic fertilizer because they are abundant and have potential as liquid organic fertilizer. Extension activities were carried out using the lecture method and Focussed Group Discussion (FGD). Based on the counseling activities that have been carried out, Ms. PKK has begun to understand the stages of the process of making liquid organic fertilizer from water hyacinth and golden snail. The support from the head of the PKK and the enthusiasm of Mrs. PKK were seen during the extension activities.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan mengkaji pengaruh lama perendaman benih sirsak dalam kombucha serta ukuran benih berbeda terhadap viabilitas benih dan pertumbuhan bibit sirsak. Penelitian dilakukan di Screenhouse dan Laboratorium Fisiologi dan Pemuliaan Tanaman UNDIP pada Maret – Juli 2024. Penelitian menggunakan percobaan faktorial 3x4 dengan dasar Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor pertama lama perendaman benih dalam kombucha (quick dipping, 2 jam, 4 jam, 6 jam). Faktor kedua ukuran benih sirsak berbeda berdasarkan diameter (kecil, sedang, besar). Benih diekstraksi dari buah varietas lokal, diseleksi dan direndam dalam kombucha sesuai dengan perlakuan, lalu ditanam dalam bak perkecambahan kemudian dipindah tanam pada polybag untuk pembibitan. Parameter pengamatan meliputi waktu berkecambah, indeks vigor, daya berkecambah, kecepatan tumbuh kecambah, berat basah dan kering kecambah, tinggi bibit, jumlah daun, diameter batang, berat basah dan kering bibit. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam, dilanjutkan dengan uji beda nyata jujur pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat interaksi antara perlakuan terhadap parameter berat kering kecambah. Perlakuan lama perendaman benih dalam kombucha berpengaruh nyata terhadap kecepatan tumbuh kecambah, berat kering kecambah, dan jumlah daun. Perlakuan ukuran benih berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter berat basah dan kering kecambah, serta diameter batang. Benih berukuran besar mampu meningkatkan hasil parameter berat basah dan kering kecambah, serta diameter batang. Perendaman benih dalam kombucha secara quick dipping memberikan hasil terbaik pada parameter kecepatan tumbuh kecambah dan jumlah daun, sedangkan perendaman selama 4 jam mampu meningkatkan berat kering kecambah. Benih berukuran besar yang direndam kombucha selama 4 jam memberikan pengaruh terbaik pada viabilitas dan pertumbuhan bibit sirsak.
