Abstract

University of Tasmania fokus meneliti topik ini, disusul University of California dan University of Haifa. Sumber primer terkait topik ini yaitu international journal of Scientific and technologi, international journal of Mathematical education in, Teaching Statistics, dan Eurasia Jurnal of mathematics, science and techno.

Abstract

Students' mathematical communication skills are still not optimal, this can be seen when students have difficulty in expressing their mathematical ideas in the form of writing or pictures. Students can understand the meaning of the problem given, but have difficulty communicating it again in the form of a mathematical model. This study aims to determine the mathematical communication skills of class VIII students in solving mathematical problems based on visual and auditory learning styles. The subjects of this study were eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 25 Semarang, each with one student with a visual learning style and one student with an auditory learning style. Data collection techniques used questionnaires to classify students based on learning styles, written tests, and interviews to determine students' mathematical communication skills. The validity test of the data used is triangulation technique by comparing the results of the written test and the results of the interview. The results of the study concluded that both students with a visual learning style and students with an auditory learning style have met the indicators of expressing everyday events into language or mathematical symbols and can explain ideas, situations, and mathematical relationships with real objects, pictures, graphs, and algebra . However, students with an auditory learning style have a higher level of accuracy than students with a visual learning style in writing mathematical symbols in the process of solving problems in solid-sided geometric material.

Abstract

Mathematics learning experiences a paradigm shift in its development. It is followed by various mathematics learning approaches including ethnomathematical approach. Ethnomathematical approach integrates the characters and cultural literacy in mathematics learning. Therefore, it is able to instil the mathematics concepts through the cultural practice which is implemented in the learning process. One of it is conducted through the exploration of regency local wisdom that has a role in developing ethnomathematical. This study implements the concepts of regency local wisdom which is able to be adopted in ethnomathematical learning. This study is qualitative research in which the researcher observes the local wisdom of Bojonegoro regency, East Java, Indonesia. The data obtained is related with the rational stories behind the culture. Based on observation results, Bojonegoro local wisdom such as Oklik, Tengul dance, and Khayangan Api story can be integrated in mathematics learning. Understanding the local wisdom stories can potentially bring out the values of it and connect culture with mathematics. Those stories can be implemented in mathematics learning by providing HOTS (higher order thinking skill) questions which are relevant to the learning materials.

Abstract

Abstrak. The mathematical literacy ability is crucial for the students to have in the mathematical study. The purpose of this study is to find out how a student's mathematical literacy ability is reviewed from gender. It falls into a sort of descriptive qualitative research. Subject is chosen using an impressive sampling technique. The data collection techniques used in this research are tests and interviews. To obtain validity data on research used triangulated techniques. The data analysis techniques used in this study are data reduction, data presentation, and deduction drawing. The results of this study show that students' mathematical literacy ability in solving contextual problems between men and women has almost the same characteristics. Male and female students can only achieve indicators of formulating problems and using mathematics to solve problems. This is also the basis for why literacy in Indonesia is low. Lack of motivation and monotonous learning models can also be the cause of low mathematical literacy.

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this study is to analyze problem-solving on HOTS problems in terms of early mathematical ability. This research method uses qualitative methods. The subjects in this study were students of class XI MIPA. The technique of determining the subject in this study began by grouping students into three groups of early mathematical abilities, namely high, medium and low. Then 3 students were taken as subjects, namely one subject for each group whose problem-solving steps met the problem-solving steps of Krulik & Rudnick. The data collection technique begins by grouping the categories of early mathematical abilities, giving math problem-solving tests and interviews on selected subjects to describe mathematical problem-solving and achievements on the HOTS indicator. Based on the results of math problem-solving tests and interviews on the subject, the results of this study showed that subjects with high early mathematical abilities were able to fulfill the read the problem step, explore step, select a strategy step, solve step and look back step so that the subject reached the indicator of analyzing, evaluating and create. Subjects with the medium category of initial mathematical ability were able to fulfill the read the problem step, the explore step, then select a strategy step, and the solve step, so the subject had not yet reached the creating indicator. Subjects with low mathematics initial ability category were only able to fulfill the read the problem step, the subject did not achieve all of the HOTS indicators.
