Abstract

This paper performs a narrative analysis of the basic philosophy of education book. The book, “becoming critical” was written by Carr and Kemmis (1986). Authors rise up again this old book due to the whole content is essential for educator, students from undergraduate to doctoral level. In simple, the book narrated three basic educational research methodologies among all chapters: technical-theoretical-positivism, practical-interpretative-hermeneutics, and critical-reflection-emancipatory paradigm. Narrative is the central mechanism for meaning making. It is the multiple representations used to reference and make sense of human experience. Dealing with the pros and cons of those paradigms, this paper gives a brief memory to educator in doing research in education. To sum up, this paper illustrated education, knowledge, and action research.

Abstract

Abstrak Kepemimpinan pendidikan merupakan cara yang melekat pada diri seorang pimpinan dalam menjalankan tugasnya melalui orang-orang yang dipimpinnya pada lembaga pendidikan. Lembaga pendidikan di Indonesia terdiri atas lembaga pendidikan negeri dan lembaga pendidikan swasta. Kepemimpinan pada lembaga pendidikan swasta baik sekolah maupun perguruan tinggi pada hakekatnya diperoleh melalui tahapan yang telah ditetapkan oleh peraturan pemerintah dan disesuaikan dengan kebijakan atau peraturan lembaga swasta tanpa mengurangi apa yang telah ditetapkan dalam peraturan pemerintah untuk dijadikan sebagai pedoman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran kepemimpinan kependidikan pada lembaga pendidikan swasta berkenaan dengan cara perolehannya dan tanggungjawabnya dalam memimpin. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kajian pustaka (library research) dengan menggali informasi melalui literatur berkenaan dengan kepemimpinan dan pendidikan untuk menjawab fokus kajian pada penelitian ini.Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan, bahwa pada lembaga pendidikan swasta berkenaan dengan asal usul perolehan kepemimpinan pada umumnya menyimpang dari teori-teori asal usul kepemimpinan yang dikemukakan para ahli, karenaperoleh kepemimpinan lebih banyak berdasarkan faktor kedekatan dengan pemilik lembaga pendidikan swasta dan peran utama yang dijalankan pada umumnya didominasi oleh tuntutan dan keinginan pemilik lembaga pendidikan swasta sehingga kaangkala berbenturan dengan peraturan pemerintah yang dijadikan sebagai tolok ukur dalam menjalankan kepemimpinannya.Hal ini berdampak pada budaya organisasi yang tidak sehat serta kualitas lembaga yang rendah.Oleh karena itu, pemimpin lembaga pendidikan swasta yang memperoleh kekuasaan dan kewenanga berdasarkan faktor kedekatan perlu meningkatkan diri dan menjalin hubungan kerja yang baik dengan tenaga pendidik. Kata kunci: Lembaga Pendidikan Swasta, Kepemimpinan Pendidikan, Teori dan Praktek Abstract Educational leadership is a way that is inherent in a leader in carrying out his duties through the people he leads in educational institutions. Consists of educational institutions in Indonesia and private educational institutions. Leadership in private educational institutions, both schools and universities, is essentially determined by government regulations and adjusted to the policies or regulations of private institutions without reducing what has been stipulated in government regulations to be made new. This study aims to provide an overview of educational leadership in private educational institutions by means of their acquisition and responsibilities in leadership. The research method used is literature review (library research) by studying information through the literature regarding leadership and education to answer the focus of the study in this study. The results of the study show that in private educational institutions regarding the origin of leadership generally deviates from theory - the theory of the origin of leadership put forward by experts, because leadership is more based on the factor of proximity to private educational institutions and the main role that is carried out is generally dominated by the desire of the owners of private educational institutions so that sometimes it collides with regulations that are used as measuring guidelines in carrying out their leadership. This has an impact on an unhealthy organizational culture and low quality of institutions. Therefore, leaders of private educational institutions who obtain power and authority based on proximity factors need to improve themselves and establish working relationships. a good number of educators. Keywords: Private Educational Institutions, Educational Leadership, Theory and Practice

Abstract

The quality of education in Indonesia is still far from being expected. It is different from Taiwan. The government and people realize that a strong commitment to build and develop a national education system is a key determinant of the success of the state to maintain students’ achievement. The purpose of this study is to respond the correlation of teacher teaching experience (TTE) and instructional delivery on teacher’s competence (TCC), classroom curriculum (CC), and personal competencies (PC) by examining teachers in the primary schools from Taiwan and Indonesia. This study explores the differences between Taiwan and Indonesia cohort in TCC, CC, PC and correlation between TTE and TCC, CC, PC to bring learners` achievement. The results shown that the TCC, CC, PC are different from Taiwan and Indonesia. Then, TEE is statistically significant on TCC, CC, and PC. The techno teaching of each country is compiled by the ministry of education, and then the primary school is given the authority to develop techno teaching or students’ achievement in accordance with the conditions of each region and students’ demand in Indonesia which includes a teacher’s competencies that are supported to succeed the education especially in primary school.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to describe the utilization of a network of partnership between organizations in achieving school goals in the view of female principals at the public and private senior high schools in Jambi City. This research uses a qualitative approach designed with qualitative descriptive approached. The data in this study collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. Data analyzed by using qualitative research data analysis techniques. The study found that the utilization of a network of partnership between organizations in the view of female leaders based on three judged, namely the availability of school resources, the needs of students, and the need for information. Meanwhile, a network of partnership carried out between equal or non-equal school organizations and other institutions that care about education in the form of the use of facilities and sit in students.Keywords: Utilization; networking; partnership; leader’s women.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pemanfaatan jaringan kerjasama antar organisasi dalam pencapaian tujuan sekolah dalam pandangan kepala sekolah perempuan di tingkat sekolah menengah atas negeri dan swasta di Kota Jambi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang didesain dengan rancangan deskriptif kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe education for the aboriginal community in Tanah Menang, Bungku’s Village, Batanghari District, Jambi Province, Indonesia. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. We collected data through interviews, observations, and documents. The results found that: 1) the education for Orang Rimba in Tanah Menang provides since 2017 that focused on a base education; 2) the teacher creates the lesson material through the picture, and puzzle fixed with their environment; 3) the primary method of learning is teacher-centered, 4) the average of students age is 10 to 20 years old; 5) the learning process conveyed in bilingual, heritage language of Orang Rimba and Bahasa.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to enhance empowering the quality school resources in improving the quality of education in SMA Pasundan 3 Cimahi West Java. The researchers used qualitative research. Observation, interviews and documentation was used in this collecting the data. The result show that empowering school resources is increasing human resources, especially teachers and students, school facility and infrastructure in improving school quality, and alternative ways to improve the quality of education by improving quality teacher education, increasing teaching hours for teachers who lack teaching hours, adding school infrastructure needed by using BOS funds and increasing education development in suburban areas. Abstract

- The aim of this study was to know the influence of teachers’ leadership and motivation, to know the learning outcomes on learning social science. This research was quantitative with regression linear. The researchers taken 30 students from class XI IPS (social science) 1 Year 2020/2021 at MA Yahisha Cihampelas Bandung. The result show that the hypothesis in this study can be accepted, namely there is an influence of Teachers' Leadership and Motivation on the Social Science Learning Outcomes of Class XI IPS 1 Students 2020/2021 at MA Yahisha Cihampelas Bandung. With a high level of significance. In other words, Teachers' Leadership and motivation can be used as a method to improve student learning outcomes, in this case, Social Science lessons in the teaching and learning process. Abstract

Structure and Written Expression TOEFL is a major difficulty for students because of the lack of TOEFL understanding preparation, no specific TOEFL preparation book has been used, and the inaccurate use of strategies in understanding TOEFL. The purpose of this study was to analyze students' English language skills in the TOEFL Structure and Written Expression section material, to analyze the difficulties of the Structure and Written Expression material for students, and to describe the reasons for the difficulties faced by students in the Structure and Written Expression material. This research uses a descriptive method. The random sampling technique was carried out with a total sample size of 30 students in the English Language Study Program at Higher Education, namely the Islamic Institute of Islamic Studies Ma'arif Metro Lampung and IAIN Metro Lampung. Data collection techniques using tests, interviews, and observations. The test given in this study is the TOEFL Paper Based Test (PBT) published by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The findings in this study have shown that  students experience difficulties on the Structure and Written Expression of TOEFL because their ability in the test is at level C, "Enough". Second, among the eight indicators of the Structure and Written Expression material tested in the TOEFL, Inversion is the most difficult answer for students to answer because they have never studied this material and in-depth analysis is needed to answer the question. This shows that from the two TOEFL Structure tests the percentage of material difficulty is the highest among the other seven indicators.

Abstract

PKBM as non-formal education provider in the form of equality education and life skills cannot stand alone to carry out its duties and roles. Therefore PKBM builds partnership networks with other parties so that roles and functions can be achieved, given the limited resources owned by PKBM units. The purpose of this study is to describe how the understanding of PKBM unit managers in building partnership networks. To answer the research objectives in general, the researcher explores information regarding the meaning of partnership networks for PKBM unit managers, characteristics of partnership networks, and factors that become obstacles in building partnership networks.This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method, involving 15 PKBM unit managers from several districts in Jambi Province, namely Batanghari, Merangin and Muaro Bungo. Data collected through observation, interviews, and documents were analyzed by following the steps of data analysis in qualitative research. The data that has been analyzed is tested for its validity in theory, field sources, and other sources.This study found that the understanding of building a partnership network for PKBM unit managers was limited to a practical understanding so that the available service programs could run according to plan with the limited resources of the PKBM unit. Therefore, this needs to be addressed by providing direct experience to PKBM unit managers through visits to other PKBM units that serve as references and providing training regarding PKBM management. The results of this study can be used for the development of community-based educational organizations.
