Abstract

The social support is increasingly accepted as an important factor that influences the wellness of a human being, particularly people with chronic diseases. This study translates and validates the quantitative questionnaire that has been developed and has been widely accepted across cultures, namely the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). The study was initially performed by translating the original questionnaire using forward and backward translation methods. Thirty cancer patients from Margono public hospital Purwokerto, Indonesia were conveniently included to evaluate the transleted questionmaire’s cconvergent, discriminant validity. Furthermore, 45 cancer patients were included in the main study which evaluate the level of social support among cancer patients. According to factor analysis, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin Measure of Sampling Adequacy showed that the results is valid (0.668) while the Bartlett’s Test of Sphericity also showed that the number of samples were adequate (0.668) and eligible for factor analysis. The Measures of Sampling adequacy from each question was considerably higher than 0.5 and therefore there were no translated question that has to be removed in the analysis. There were 3 out of 12 factors that was included with the total variance of 81.166%. The Pearson’s correlation and Cronbach Alpha tests showed that discriminant validity and reliability test of the translated questionnaire were valid (>0.400) and reliable (>0.700) questionnaire. The translated version of the MSPSS was considerably a valid and reliable questionnaire to evaluate the level of social support for cancer patients in Indonesia.

Abstract

Hospital service standards are closely linked to a hospital’s ability to provide healthcare services following its qualifications. This study aims to demonstrate how declining public trust in doctors has led to rising lawsuits, often associated with perceived failures in medical treatment. This qualitative research employs a descriptive approach to systematically and factually collect data promptly based on the conditions during the study. The findings indicate that doctors who commit medical negligence can be held legally accountable through both professional and non-professional institutions. Furthermore, non-professional dispute resolution can occur outside the court (non-litigation) or within the court system (litigation).

Abstract

Abstract

Dyspepsia is a common digestive disorder among global health problems. This study aimed to examine the cost-effectiveness of scientific herbs in the treatment of dyspepsia. This study has used a societal perspective, but the indirect costs are considered equal because the patient is undergoing outpatient care. The analysis was used to determine the cost-effectiveness using the Incremental Cost-Effectiveness Ratio (ICER) method. The results were reported in rupiah currency, which includes categories of direct medical costs and direct non-medical costs. Sensitivity analysis reported changes in results, taking into account various possible influencing variables. A total of 62 patients who were respondents in this study were included in scientific herbal therapy (48.38%) and conventional dyspepsia therapy (51.62%). The cost of scientific herbal therapy was higher than conventional dyspepsia therapy (45.558±4.351 vs. 39.202±4.500). However, this difference was not statistically significant on the effectiveness of therapy (96.67% vs. 90.62%; p-value 0.600), the utility index of scientific herbal medicine was greater than conventional dyspepsia therapy (0.85±0.11 vs. 0.74±0.14). The ICER value for 1 additional unit of effectiveness was IDR 105,933; while for the addition of 1 unit of quality of life was IDR 57,781. The effectiveness of scientific herbal medicine therapy for dyspepsia was greater than the effectiveness of conventional dyspepsia therapy, where the cost was higher but the effectiveness was better.
