Abstract

Academic stress has become a significant issue among students worldwide, with a high prevalence rate, particularly before exams. According to the Global Burden of Disease Study (2020), mental disorders, including stress, affect 1 in 4 people globally. In Southeast Asia, around 45% of students experience significant levels of stress, while in Indonesia, the prevalence ranges from 36.7% to 71.6%. This academic stress can impact academic performance, reduce concentration, cognitive function, and memory. Female students, in particular, are more vulnerable to academic stress due to hormonal changes that affect emotional stability. Although various non-pharmacological approaches, such as mindfulness and exercise, have proven effective, both require a significant time commitment. As an alternative, exposure to alpha wave audio has emerged as an interesting option, as it can help regulate emotions and reduce stress levels. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of exposure to alpha wave audio on emotional transformation before module exams in female students of the 2022 cohort at the Faculty of Medicine, Sam Ratulangi University. This study uses an quasi experimental research design with a one-group pre-test post-test design, comparing measurements before and after the intervention. The data is then analyzed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon test. A comparison of emotional changes before and after listening to alpha wave audio was measured in 100 subjects in the intervention group. The results showed significant changes in both positive and negative emotions, with a significance value of 0.028 (p<0.05). This study concluded that there is an effect of alpha wave audio exposure on emotional transformation before the module exam.

Abstract

Weight training have become a sports of choice among people to improve physical fitness and strength. Muscle endurance is named as one of the factors that may effect weight training performance and fitness development. Isotonic drinks were formulated to have similar osmolality as the fluids in human body (275-330 mOsm/L) to help the nutrients to be absorbed in a small amount of time. Isotonik drinks may potentially improve muscle endurance with its carbohydrates and electrolytes content to replace the energy and electrolytes loss during intense weight training. This study aim to understand the effect of isotonic drinks consumption on muscle endurance during weight training. This was an experimental study using pre-test and post-test with control group design to analyze the difference of muscle endurance before and after isotonic drinks consumption during weight training. The data was analyzed using t-paired test. The result showed that there is a significant improvement in muscle endurance numbers upon group that was given isotonic drinks with value of significancy < 0,001 (p < 0,05). This study concludes that there there is an effect of isotonic drinks consumption on muscle endurance during weight training.

Abstract

Kelebihan berat badan (overweight) dapat memengaruhi sistem muskuloskeletal, terutama ekstremitas bawah, dan berpotensi mengubah sudut Quadriceps angle (Q-Angle) serta menurunkan kemampuan keseimbangan statis tubuh. q-angle yang meningkat dapat menyebabkan ketidakseimbangan distribusi beban pada lutut, sehingga beresiko menimbulkan gangguan keseimbangan statis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Hubungan Q-Angle Lutut terhadap Keseimbangan Statis pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sam Ratulangi dengan Indeks Massa Tubuh Overweight. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analitik observasional dengan desain penelitian cross-sectional. Pengambilan sampel menggunnakan teknik purposive sampling dengan total 40 sampel. Sampel dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yaitu kelomok IMT normal  dan IMT overweight. Pengukuran q-angle dilakukan menggunakan goniometer dan pengukuran keseimbangan statis menggunakan metode Standing Stork Test. Analisis data menggunakan software SPSS versi 31 meliputi Uji Independen T-Test, Mann-Whitney, dan Uji korelasi menggunakan Korelasi Pearson. Adanya perbedaan signifikan antara rerata Q-Angle lutut kanan dan kiri pada kelompok IMT Normal dan Overweight (p<0,001). Adanya perbedaan signifikan antara rerata keseimbangan statis kiri dan kanan pada kelompok IMT Normal dan Overweight (p<0,001). Uji korelasi pearson pada kelompok IMT Overweight menunjukkan adanya hubungan negatif yang kuat antara Q-Angle dan Keseimbangan Statis (r = -0,648 kanan; r = -0,611 kiri; p<0,005). Terdapat hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara q-angle lutut dan keseimbangan statis pada mahasiswa dengan IMT Overweight. Hubungan negatif ini menandakan semakin besar sudut Q-Angle, maka semakin rendah kemampuan keseimbangan statis pada mahasiswa fakultas kedokteran tahun 2024 Universitas Sam Ratulangi.

Abstract

Teknik lay up melibatkan lari, lompatan, dan pelepasan bola ke ring, membutuhkan koordinasi biomekanika yang optimal untuk mencapai akurasi dan efesiensi gerak. Aspek pada teknik lay up dari sudut pandang fisika diantaranya energi kinetik & energi potensial, yang bergantung pada kemampuan fisik atlet. Pada saat atlet berlari energi kinetik yang berperan pada saat berakselerasi menuju ring, dan energi potensial pada saat mencapai ketinggian optimal untuk mencetak poin. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui adanya hubungan antara energi kinetik dan energi potensial pada gerakan lay up pemain bola basket tim DBL Manado Independent School. Metode yang digunakan observasional analisis korelasi, yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara energi kinetik dan energi potensial pada gerakan lay up atlet basket. Penelitian ini hanya mengobservasi dan menganalisis hubungan dari kedua energi tersebut yang akan direkam dan dianalisis menggunakan Kinovea untuk menentukan energi kinetik dan energi potensial pada 3 fase yang berbeda. Data yang diperoleh kemudian diuji menggunakan uji pearson. Terdapat hubungan antar energi kinetik dan energi potensial yang ditandakan dengan r = 0,524 dan ?  < 0,05. Terdapat hubungan antara energi kinetik dan energi potensial pada gerakan lay up yang ditandakan dengan penurunan energi kinetik dan peningkatan energi potensial sampai ke titik puncak

Abstract

Vertical jump is one of the important physical abilities that reflects the explosive power of the lower leg muscles, so it is often used to assess functional performance and explosive movement capacity. This ability is influenced by muscle strength and movement coordination. Bodyweight squats are a simple, easy-to-do exercise that has the potential to increase muscle strength and explosive ability without requiring additional equipment, making it relevant for students who generally have varied and limited physical activity. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of serial bodyweight squats on vertical jump height in male students at the Faculty of Medicine, Sam Ratulangi University. A quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted to compare the results before and after the intervention, which were then analyzed using the Wilcoxon nonparametric test. Measurements of vertical jump height before and after a 4-week intervention on 44 subjects showed an increase in vertical jump height with a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05). There is an effect of serial bodyweight squat training on vertical jump height in students.
