Abstract

Hospitals are not only as a place of treatment, but also as a health service facility that can be a source of infection for other people. Doctors, nurses and other medical personnel are often exposed to potential hazards in hospitals, thus requiring protection in the form of personal protective equipment (PPE). However, compliance with the use of PPE is not always high, which makes doctors and nurses more vulnerable to risk of occupational diseases in hospitals. In one of conducted studies, the conditions that were less compliant in using PPE for health workers were 30%. One of the things that might affect this level of compliance is knowledge about PPE. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and compliance level to use personal protective equipment among doctors and nurses in operating room installation from a private hospital in 2020. Analytic observational by using cross sectional research design was used in this study. The population were all doctors and nurses at operating room installation of mentioned hospital above. Sampling was taken by total sampling method and 26 samples met the inclusion criteria. In this study, there were 23 respondents (88.5%) obeyed the use of personal protective equipment, meanwhile 3 respondents (11.5%) who did not. The 3 respondents were on loop or circular nurses. So, there was a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and compliance in the use of personal protective equipment with p-value = 0.027and OR=44. Keywords: personal protective equipment, knowledge level, compliance level

Abstract

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) are widely used as cognitive assessment tools in medical education due to their efficiency and objectivity. The quality of MCQs is strongly influenced by the alignment between examination planning through blueprinting and the empirical performance of test items evaluated using item analysis. This study aimed to examine the alignment between the examination blueprint and item analysis results as indicators of MCQ instrument validity. This study employed a descriptive observational quantitative design with a retrospective approach. Data were obtained from examination blueprint documents and MCQ test results from the most recent block examination conducted at the Medical Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang. A total of 150 MCQ items were analyzed using statistical software to calculate difficulty index, discrimination index, and internal reliability measured by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. The results demonstrated that most items were classified within the moderate difficulty category (47.33%), with relatively balanced proportions of difficult and easy items. Item discrimination analysis revealed that 70.67% of items showed good discrimination (?0.30), although 29.33% of items demonstrated fair to poor discrimination. The internal reliability of the examination instrument was very high, with a Cronbach’s alpha value of 0.91. In conclusion, the alignment between the examination blueprint and item analysis findings supports the validity and reliability of the MCQ assessment instrument. Nevertheless, continuous evaluation and revision of items, particularly those with low discrimination indices, are recommended to enhance the overall quality of assessment.

Abstract

The Family Planning Program (KB) is a program that aims to control the rate of population increase, regulate pregnancy, distance, and the ideal age for childbirth. In Indonesia, the coverage of active family planning participants in long-term methods is still relatively low, namely: AKDR (7.4%), AKBK (7.4%), MOW (2.7%), and MOP (0.5%) which is still far below the target of the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) of 66%. Many factors cause contraceptive users, one of which is the knowledge of family planning users about contraceptive methods. Therefore, it is necessary to educate the community to increase understanding, especially in women of childbearing age, about family planning and various contraceptive methods, so that they can choose and use appropriate methods to support reproductive health and family welfare. Community service activities are carried out by providing education through material presentations with lecture and discussion methods. Before and after the provision of education, the level of community knowledge about family planning and contraceptive methods was measured. The average pretest score was 53.17 and the average post test score was 87.34. This shows that there is an increase in participants' knowledge about the concept of family planning and various contraceptive methods.
