Abstract

Two benzopyrans, evodionol (1), and evodion (2) were isolated from the stem bark of Melicope latifolia. The structure of both compounds was identified based on 1D and 2D NMR, UV, and IR spectroscopy. Antifeedant activity of compounds 1-2, and ethyl acetate extract, showing inhibition value of 28.9; 31.3, and 46.8%, respectively, which were categorized as moderate.

Abstract

This research aimed to know the influence of addition crude product Pseudomonas aeruginosa IA7d biosurfactant from substrate hexadecane and diesel fuel in supporting activity of diesel fuel biodegradation and both potention to replace synthetic surfactant for hydrocarbon remediation. Biodegradation test was done by experimental in laboratory scale by Tween-80 as synthetic surfactant comparator. Growth culture was from seawater of Tanjung Perak Harbor Surabaya include various microbe types in its. 2% ( w/v) of diesel fuel and three surfactants test (0.70% w/v crude product P. aeruginosa IA7d biosurfactant from hexadecane substrate; 60,69% w/v crude product P. aeruginosa IA7d biosurfactant from diesel fuel substrate; and 0.10% w/v synthetic surfactant Tween 80) at uniform surface tension of surfactant solution (54.03 mN/m) were added into 30 ml seawater sample. Cultures were incubated at room temperature (30 °C) during 14 days with shaking (90 rpm). Result of biodegradation test showed the third addition of surfactants test had an effect on acceleration of diesel fuel biodegradation activity that proved at the increased of microbial count (bacterium, yeast, and mould) and decreased of diesel fuel concentration was shown by chromatograms area of diesel fuel. Highest degradation was successively reached by culture got crude product P. aeruginosa IA7d biosurfactant from diesel fuel substrate (88.034%), crude product P. aeruginosa IA7d biosurfactant from hexadecane substrate (80.908%), synthetic surfactant Tween-80 (54.732%), and control that was without addition surfactant test (0.132%). Base on number of microbial count, percentage of decreasing chromatogram peaks of diesel fuel from each surfactant test, and price substrate produce (diesel fuel and hexadecane) among both crude product P. aeruginosa IA7d biosurfactant, known that the crude product P. aeruginosa IA7d biosurfactant from diesel fuel substrate had highest ability acceleration to biodegradation activity on diesel fuel and had a potency to replace synthetic surfactant for remediation hydrocarbon application in environment.

Abstract

Melicope incana is one of the plant species that belongs to family Rutaceae. Melicope produces phenolic compounds, including alkaloids, acylphloroglucinol, flavonoids, and coumarins. This study aims to isolate the acyl phloroglucinol derivatives found in M. incana seeds. Extraction of acylphloroglucinol derivatives with methanol using the maceration method at room temperature. Separation and purification using a combination of gravity column chromatography, and radial chromatography. Two acylphloroglucinol compounds have been isolated, namely 3'-geranyl-2',4',6'-trihydroxy acetophenone (1) and 3'-isoprenyl-2',4',6'-trihydroxy acetophenone (2). The structure of the two compounds was determined based on UV, IR, 1D, and 2D NMR spectroscopic analysis. Anticancer activity of compounds 1-2 against breast cancer cells MCF-7 showed IC50 values of 48.98 and 4.30 µg /mL, respectively.

Abstract

Two flavonols, glyasperin A (1), and meliternatin (2) has been isolated from the leaves of Macaranga gigantea (Rchb.f. & Zoll.) Müll.Arg. Extraction and isolation of flavonols were used methanol with the maceration method. The process of fractionation and purification used column chromatography and radial chromatography. The structure of both flavonols was determined by spectroscopic methods, including UV-Vis, IR, HRESIMS, 1D NMR (1H, and 13C-NMR) and 2D NMR (HMBC and HMQC). The cytotoxic activity of glyasperin A (1), and meliternatin (2) toward P-388 leukemia murine cells by MTT method, showing IC50 values 3.44 and 30.04 µg/mL, respectively.

Abstract

Melicope latifolia (DC.) T.G. Hartley merupakan salah satu spesies tumbuhan yang termasuk famili Rutaceae. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengisolasi senyawa kumarin terisoprenilasi dari buah M. latifolia serta menentukan aktivitas antikanker terhadap sel murin leukemia P-388. Ekstraksi senyawa kumarin terisoprenilasi yang terdapat dalam buah M. latifolia menggunakan metanol. Pemisahan dan pemurnian menggunakan kromatografi kolom gravitasi dan kromatografi radial menghasilkan dua senyawa kumarin terisoprenilasi, yakni alosantoksiletin (1) dan isopimpinelin (2). Struktur kedua senyawa kumarin terisoprenilasi ditetapkan berdasarkan analisis spektroskopi  UV, IR, HR-ESI-MS, 1D dan 2D NNMR. Aktivitas antikanker terhadap sel P-388 menggunakan metode MTT memperlihatkan nilai IC50 sebesar 3,41 ± 0,31 dan 23,70 ± 1,37 µg/mL.

Abstract

One of the ways to maintain the personal health during an emergency condition as the current COVID-19 is the utilization of natural ingredients. It can be processed into traditional medicines. Jamu as a type of traditional medicine as well as natural heritage has been widely used by Indonesian to prevent the body from disease and to treat the health issue. This community service aimed to provide education for society regarding the chemical content and efficacy of natural ingredients such as empon-empon. The techniques to process it into traditional medicine for family healthcare was also delivered. The activity was carried out through face-to-face meeting while still applying the health protocols. The level of success and usefulness of the activity was known from the response of the participants. In general, the PKM activities in the scheme of theory and practical session has been carried out well. The materials presented in theory session was understandable. Meanwhile, the techniques used in practical session was easy to be replicated. The activity was expected to increase the knowledge and skills of the society in terms of natural ingredients that have good chemical content and the techniques to process them into nutritious drinks for families.

Abstract

Tanaman obat merupakan jenis tanaman yang memiliki khasiat sebagai obat serta dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan pembuatan obat tradisional yaitu jamu untuk membantu masyarakat dalam pemeliharaan kesehatan, pencegahan penyakit dan perawatan kesehatan terutama di era new normal dan post-pandemi Covid-19. Beberapa khasiat dari obat tradisional yang umumnya dimanfaatkan masyarakat antara lain meringankan gejala flu, batuk, sakit tenggorokan, sakit kepala, nyeri haid, dan lain-lain. Tanaman obat dapat dibudidayakan di lingkungan sekitar tempat tinggal seperti rumah atau pondok pesantren. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi publik khususnya di lingkungan pondok pesantren mengenai manfaat tanaman obat sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan kesehatan masyarakat. Rangkaian kegiatan ini diselenggarakan di Pondok Pesantren An-Nidhomiyah pada Bulan Juli 2022. Kegiatan ini diselenggarakan secara luring dengan tetap memenuhi protokol kesehatan. Peserta kegiatan ini yaitu santri putra dan putri pondok pesantren An-Nidhomiyah yang berjumlah 30 peserta. Kegiatan ini dilakukan melalui metode pendampingan dan workshop dengan pemaparan materi, praktik pembuatan obat tradisional, dan penanaman tanaman obat di halaman pondok. Kegiatan ini mendapatkan antusiasme yang besar dari peserta. Hasil survei kepuasan peserta menunjukkan trendline sebesar 87% yang termasuk dalam kategori sangat memuaskan untuk semua aspek, yang berarti sebagian besar peserta sangat puas terhadap kegiatan PkM ini, baik dari segi materi, metode, narasumber, hingga fasilitas yang diberikan. Medicinal plants are plants that have efficacy for medicinal and can be used as ingredients for making traditional medicines, namely herbs, to help the community in health care, disease prevention, and health care, especially in the new normal era and the post-pandemic Covid-19. Some of the benefits of traditional medicine commonly used by the community include relieving symptoms of flu, cough, sore throat, headache, menstrual pain, and others. Medicinal plants can be cultivated around the residence, such as in houses or Islamic boarding schools. This community service activity aims to provide public education, especially in Islamic boarding schools, about the benefits of medicinal plants to improve knowledge, skills, and public health. This activity was held at the An-Nidhomiyah Islamic Boarding School in July 2022. This activity was held offline by implementing health protocols. The participants of this activity were students of the An-Nidhomiyah Islamic boarding school, totaling 30 participants. The activity is carried out through mentoring and workshop methods, including presentations, traditional medicine production practices, and planting medicinal plants in the boarding school yard. This activity received great enthusiasm from the participants. The participant satisfaction survey results show a trendline of 87%, which is included in the very satisfied category for all aspects, which means that most of the participants were very satisfied with this PkM activity in terms of topics, methods, speakers, and facilities provided.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengisolasi dan menguji aktivitas antikanker senyawa pterokarpan dari kulit batang Spatholobus ferrugineus (Zoll. & Moritzi) Benth terhadap MCF-7 yaitu sel kanker payudara. Terdapat dua senyawa turunan pterokarpan yang berhasil diisolasi yaitu senyawa variabilin (1) and medikarpin (2). Kedua senyawa tersebut dikarakterisasi dengan instrument 1D dan 2D NMR yang menyatakan bahwa kedua senyawa yang berhasil diisolasi adalah senyawa 1 dan 2. Senyawa 1 dan 2 menunjukkan aktivitas antikanker dengan nilai IC50 2,73 dan 14,36 μg/mL. Kata kunci : pterokarpan, antikanker, Spatholobus ferrugineus, MCF-7.

Abstract

Flemingia macrophylla merupakan tumbuhan perdu yang termasuk keluarga Fabaceae. Senyawa fenolik Flemingia mengandung senyawa flavonoid dan isoflavonoid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan aktivitas sitotoksik senyawa isoflavonoid dari Flemingia macrophylla terhadap sel kanker payudara T47D. Ekstraksi dan isolasi senyawa isoflavonoid menggunakan metanol pada suhu kamar. Dua senyawa isoflavonoid terisoprenilasi, 8-(1.1-dimetil-prop-2-enil) genistein (1) dan osajin (2) telah berhasil dipisahkan dari ranting Flemingia macrophylla. Penentuan struktur senyawa isoflavonoid menggunakan data spektroskopi ultraviolet (UV), inframerah (IR), 1D dan 2D NMR. Sitotoksik 8-(1.1-dimetil-prop-2-enil) genistein (1) dan osajin (2) terhadap sel kanker payudara T47D memperlihatkan nilai IC50 sebesar 10,91 ± 0,17 dan 3,72 ± 0,23 µg/mL.

Abstract

Five O-geranylated coumarins namely as auraptene (1), 7-((2’E,6’E)-5’-hydroxy-3’,7’-dimethylocta-2’,6’-dienyloxy)coumarin (2), 7-(2’E,5’E)-7’-hydroxy-3’,7’-dimethylocta-2’,5’-dienyloxy) coumarin (3), 6-methoxy-7-oxygeranylcoumarin (4), and 8-oxygeranylpsoralen (5) were isolated from the roots of Limonia accidissima L. Their structures were determined based on spectroscopic data such as UV, IR, MS and NMR. Compounds 1–5 were evaluated for their radical scavenging against 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), showing their IC50 were 462; 13; 260; 210 and 234 µg/ml, respectively.
