Abstract

Latar Belakang : Hiperurisemia menyebabkan kerusakan membran sel seperti sel hepar dan ginjal akibat reaksi berantai peroksidase lipid. Kerusakan tersebut menimbulkan peningkatan kadar stress oksidatif. Tomat mengandung likopen dan flavonoid yang berperan sebagai antioksidan, sehingga dapat mengoptimalkan kinerja glutation (GSH) dalam tubuh. Tujuan : Mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak tomat (Lycopersicon esculelntum Mill.) terhadap kadar GSH darah tikus wistar hiperurisemia. Metode : Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian True Experimental dengan rancangan Post Test Only Control Group Design. Sampel sebanyak 24 ekor tikus wistar jantan yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi, diadaptasi selama 7 hari, diberi pakan dan minum standar. Kelompok K1 tidak diberi perlakuan, Kelompok K2 diberi pakan dan minum standar, hati ayam, dan potasium oksonat. Kelompok P1 diberi pakan dan minum standar, hati ayam, potasium oksonat, dan ekstrak tomat 1 mg/200grBB/hari. Kelompok P2 diberi pakan dan minum standar, hati ayam, potasium oksonat, dan ekstrak tomat 1,5 mg/200grBB/hari. Ekstrak tomat diberikan mulai hari ke-21 sampai ke-35. Pada hari ke-36, sampel darah  diambil di retroorbita kemudian diterminasi. Plasma darah kemudian dianalisis untuk mengetahui kadar GSH. Hasil : Kadar GSH pada kelompok K1 = 154 ± 21,9 µg/ml; K2 = 228 ± 30,3 µg/ml; P1= 193 ± 21,5 µg/ml; dan P2= 176 ± 23,9 µg/ml. Simpulan : Pemberian ekstrak tomat (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) menurunkan kadar GSH darah tikus wistar hiperurisemia dan secara statistik didapatkan perbedaan yang tidak bermakna.Kata Kunci : ekstrak tomat (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.), kadar GSH, hiperurisemia

Abstract

Introduction: Based on national research 2018, in Indonesia, 21% of population is obesed. Obesity can lead to various metabolic Syndrome. The consumption of Chocolate and Black Tea can decrease insulin. BMI and Fasting Blood Glucose is use as an assessment to observe the effectivity of Chocolate and Black tea as a method of diet. Methods: This experimental study used pre and post-test control group design. Eighteen male BALB/c obese mice were randomly divided into three groups. Control group did not receive anything, 1st group treated with black tea extract, while 2nd group treated with chocolate extract. Data, such as body weight and glucose fasting level was acquired weekly. Fasting Blood Glucose was assessed with accu check. Data normality were tested using Saphiro-Wilk test. Then, Kruskall-Wallis was employed to determine whether the means of each groups differ significantly. Results: The average weight in P2 groups (31,75±3,40 gram) was significantly lower than Control (36,50±1,97 gram p=0.03) but not significantly lower than P1 (34,40±1,14 gram p=0.137) group. The average weight in P1 was not significantly lower than Control (p=0.089). There was no significant change of  number in the average Glucose fasting level (p=0.21). Conclusion : Chocolate and Black Tea could affect body weight, but could not effect fasting blood glucoseKeyword: Black Tea, BMI, Body weight, Ch ocolate, Glucose fasting level

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Rambut adalah bagian penting pelindung kepala dari paparan udara luar. Masalah kerontokan rambut diderita oleh banyak orang. Lidah buaya merupakan bahan alami yang secara tradisional dipakai untuk mengatasi masalah kerontokan rambut. Beberapa penelitian menunjukkan penggunaan lidah buaya dapat dijadikan alternatif perawatan rambut yang berperan dalam merawat rambut kering, menguatkan akar rambut, dan mengurangi kerontokan rambut. Tujuan: Mengetahui efektifitas ekstrak gel lidah buaya terhadap pertumbuhan rambut tikus wistar (Rattus norvegicus). Metode: Penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan post test only control group design. Menggunakan 24 ekor tikus. Setelah aklimatisasi selama 7 hari, punggung tikus dicukur 3x3 cm dan di randomisasi menjadi 4 kelompok, terdiri dari: Kelompok kontrol negatif yang mendapat pakan standar, kelompok kontrol positif mendapat pakan standard dan diolesi minoxidil, kelompok perlakuan 1 mendapat pakan standar dan ekstrak gel lidah buaya, kelompok perlakuan 2 mendapat pakan standar dan lidah buaya yang di oleskan langsung. Hasil: Rata-rata pertumbuhan panjang rambut pada kelompok kontrol negatif (0,43± 0,25), kontrol positif (0,62 ± 0,22), kelompok ekstrak gel lidah buaya(0,35 ±0,10), kelompok lidah buaya dioleskan langsung (0,43 ±0,09). Data terdistribusi normal dan diuji dengan ANOVA, dengan nilai p=0,069. Kesimpulan:. Tidak ada beda pertumbuhan panjang rambut yang signifikan antar kelompok penelitian.Kata Kunci: Ekstrak, Gel, Lidah Buaya, Rambut

Abstract

Latar belakang : Hipertiroid merupakan peningkatan kadar hormon tiroid bebas secara berlebihan dalam sirkulasi peredaran darah dan dapat menyebabkan peningkatan laju metabolisme yang pada akhirnya menyebabkan penurunan berat badan. Kondisi ini masih banyak dijumpai di Indonesia. Tiroidektomi merupakan satu bentuk pilihan terapi hipertiroid. Data dalam penelitian sebelumnya menyebutkan bahwa pasien yang diterapi dengan tiroidektomi mengalami peningkatan berat badan dibandingkan dengan pasien yang diterapi dengan pengobatan antitiroid lainnya. Tujuan : Mengetahui perbedaan status IMT pada pasien hipertiroid pada periode pra- dan pascaoperasi tiroidektomi. Metode : Jenis penelitian ini adalah observasional analitik retrospektif dengan pendekatan Crossectional. Data didapatkan dari rekam medik pasien dengan diagnosis hipertiroid secara laboratoris yang dilakukan tiroidektomi di RSUP Dr. Kariadi 1 Januari 2015 - 31 Desember 2017 sejumlah 62 pasien dengan metode consecutive sampling. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji statistik wilcoxon, Mann Whitney dan Kruskal Wallis. Hasil : Rata-rata status IMT praoperasi tiroidektomi adalah 23,01 dan rata-rata status IMT pascaoperasi tiroidektomi adalah 24,46. Terdapat kenaikan bermakna pada IMT pascaoperasi tiroidektomi dan jenis kelamin juga berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kenaikan IMT pascaoperasi tiroidektomi. IMT praoperasi dan usia tidak berpengaruh terhadap perubahan IMT pascaoperasi tiroidektomi. Kesimpulan: Tiroidektomi meningkatkan IMT pascaoperasi pasien hipertiroid dan kenaikan ini dipengaruhi oleh jenis kelamin.Kata kunci : Hipertiroid, Tiroidektomi, IMT.

Abstract

Spirulina platensishas been well-known as an abundant protein and phycocyanin. Spirulina platensis has the effect of anti-inflammatory, so it is widely used to apply cosmetics and biomedicine in the healing process of wounds. To prove that the administration of an extract ofSpirulina platensiscan increase the number of fibroblasts and accelerate the wound healing process in Wistar rats with an incision on their skin. This study used a randomizedpost-test only control group design. The skins of thirty (30) male Wistar rats were incised. This treatment was divided into 4 groups, namely the group that received the 0,1% cream (X1) of S.platensisextract, and the group that was administered with the 0,1% ointment (X2) of S.platensis extract; the negative control group was only treated by a saline solution (C1), and the positive control group was with the administration of Gentamycin 0,1% ointment (C2). The total numbers of fibroblasts were examined on day 14 and calculated using the method of tissue biopsy and hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. The wound was checked after 14-day Data analysis was performed with a one-wayANOVA test and was continued by Post Hoc Test LSD. The total numbers of fibroblasts on day 14 from the group of XI, X2, C1, and C2 were 15.00; 17,50; 3,83, 10,33 with p<0.001. The average size of the wounds on day 14 from the groups of X1, X2, C1, and C2 was 551,78; 435,76; 1795,95; 1193,57 with p<0.001, respectively. PostHoc Testresults on the total number of fibroblasts and extensive wound area showed significant differences between them. Administration of the 0.1% ointment of Spirulina platensisextract believed to potentially increasing the number of fibroblasts and accelerate the process of wound healing.

Abstract

Introduction: Glucose metabolism abnormality on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) caused liver damage due to dyslipidemia and increasing oxidative stress. Antidiabetic and antioxidants within green tea leaf and stevia leaf extract prevent liver damage due to T2DM complications. Objective: To investigate green tea and stevia leaf extract effects on liver histopathology on T2DM rats.Methods: This study used Post Test Only Control Group Design. A total of 30 Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups: control group (C-G), normal rats; negative control group (NC-G), T2DM induction; positive control group (PC-G), treated by Metformin; the first treatment group (T1-G), was treated by green tea leaf extract and stevia leaf extract; and the second treatment group (T2-G) was treated by a Metformin also green tea and stevia leaf extract. The treatment was given to subjects for 21 days starting 3 days after the induction of Nicotinamide (NA) and Streptozotocine (STZ). Histopathological assessment of liver cells uses assessment parameters in the form of features of necrosis, vacuolization, sinusoidal dilation and number of inflammatory cells. Hypothesis will be tested by Kruskal-Wallis (p<0,05) dan Mann-Whitney test (P<0,05) Results: The difference of liver damage in all group shows a significant difference, p<0.05. Significant differences in liver damage scores between the 2 groups there are between the negative control group and the control group (0.031), positive control (0.042), and second treatment group (0.011), and between first treatment group and second treatment group (0.041).Conclusion: The administration of green tea extract, stevia leaf, and standard drug may reduce liver damage score of Wistar with T2DM

Abstract

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine disorder characterized by hormonal imbalances, metabolic dysregulation, and reproductive abnormalities. This study aims to elucidate the significance of PCOS markers and their mechanisms while outlining the methodology employed. A comprehensive literature review was conducted from 2020 to 2023 using databases like PubMed, ScienceDirect, EMBASE, and Google Scholar. Key search terms included "pathophysiology," "pathogenesis," "PCOS," "marker," and "biomarker," aligned with the PICOT criteria. After removing duplicates, articles underwent a two-phase screening process based on predefined inclusion criteria. Additionally, a marker mechanism flowchart was created using the Biorender application. Results highlighted the pivotal role of various markers in understanding PCOS pathophysiology and guiding clinical management. Anthropometric, visual, metabolic, inflammatory, endocrine, and oxidative stress markers were analyzed for their diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic implications in PCOS. The study underscores the importance of marker interactions in personalized PCOS management. Limitations in marker interpretation warrant further research to refine diagnostic accuracy and optimize therapeutic interventions. Integrating marker mechanisms enhances understanding of PCOS heterogeneity and informs targeted treatment approaches tailored to individual phenotypic variations.

Abstract

BACKGROUND : Gallstones are formed due to deposit or hypersaturation of one or more of the bile components, namely cholesterol, bilirubin, bile salts, calcium, protein, fatty acids, and phospholipids. BMI, gender, and age are the factors that can trigger the formation of gallstones. In Indonesia, cholelithiasis cases have received less attention because they are often asymptomatic, making it difficult to detect and often misdiagnosed, resulting in a lack of official publication about the incidence of gallstones in Indonesia. AIM : To determine the correlation between BMI, Gender, and Age with cholelitiasis in Dr. Kariadi Hospital. METHOD : This was an observational study using cross-sectional design. Data were taken from medical records of patients in Digestive Surgery Department Dr. Kariadi Hospital from January 2018 until March 2020. A total of 100 patients were selected as subjects (50 patients with cholethiasis and 50 patienst without cholelithiasis). Pearson Chi-Square correlation was used for statistical analysis. RESULTS : Pearson Chi-Square test of BMI (p = 0.001) and Age (p = 0.041) was statistically significant for cholelithiasis risk (p < 0.05). While Gender (p = 0.224) was not statistically significant for cholelithiasis risk. CONCLUSION : There wa a significant correlation between BMI and Age with Cholelithiasis and there was no significant correlation between Gender with Cholelithiasis. Abstract

LATAR BELAKANG : Saat ini, berbagai tanaman asli Indonesia dikembangkan sebagai bahan perawatan luka untuk hasil penyembuhan yang lebih baik. Salah satunya, yaitu Moringa oleifera L., yang  merupakan tanaman asli Indonesia serta berpotensi dapat membantu penyembuhan luka  melalui regulasi jalur sitokin inflamasi, interleukin (IL)-1 dan IL-10. TUJUAN : Untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak Moringa oleifera L. terhadap IL-1, IL-10, dan rasio IL-1: IL-10 di jaringan kulit, pada tikus dengan luka insisi. METODE : Penelitian ini menggunakan desain post test only controlled group dengan sampel berupa 15 tikus Wistar yang dilakukan luka insisi. Sampel dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok perlakuan: perawatan luka dengan framycetin sulphate (KP), krim ekstrak Moringa oleifera L. 15% (M), dan krim plasebo (KN). Pengukuran kadar IL-1, IL-10, dan rasio IL-1:  IL-10 dilakukan pada hari ke-10 perlakuan melalui pengambilan jaringan. HASIL :  Kadar IL-1 pada kelompok perlakuan (M) tidak berbeda bermakna dibanding KN dan KP (33,56±4,68 vs 40,92±27,32 vs 30,23±3,92 pg/mL, p=0,543). Kelompok KP memiliki IL-10 lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok M dan KN (113,95±9,38; 91,75±5,65 dan 94,93±2,39 pg/mL, p<0,001), dan tidak didapatkan perbedaan antara kelompok M dan KN (p=0,296). Rasio IL-1: IL-10 kelompok KP, M, dan KN tidak menunjukan perbedaan bermakna (0,27±0,05, 0,37±0,06 dan 0,44±0,30, p=0,249). KESIMPULAN: Pemberian ekstrak Moringa oleifera L. secara topikal tidak mempengaruhi kadar IL-1 dan rasio IL-1 : IL-10 di jaringan kulit tikus dengan luka insisi. Kadar IL-10 di jaringan kulit tidak berbeda dibanding kelompok kontrol negatif, serta lebih rendah dibanding kelompok framycetin sulphate. Abstract

A complicated endocrine condition that affects many women worldwide is called polycystic ovarian syndrome, or PCOS. The use of rat models has greatly aided research on many facets of PCOS. In addition to discussing the parameters, evaluation techniques, and indicators pertinent to PCOS research, this study evaluates the standard circumstances of PCOS rat models. Our knowledge of PCOS has improved due to investigating endocrine, hormonal, inflammatory, oxidative stress, metabolic, genetic, and microbiota-related factors in these models. The results highlight how important it is to use PCOS rat models to understand the complexities of this illness and offer possible treatment avenues.
