Abstract

Abstract

Geographically, Indonesia is an agricultural country with a very wide area and many have abundant natural resources, one of which is the beach which is often used by the government as a tourism industry sector. When viewed from the flow of tourist visitor growth in South Kalimantan, it has surged every year. In order for the development of the tourism sector of Batakan Baru Beach to increase, facilities and accommodations are needed that can accommodate all tourist activities. The right choice of accommodation facilities is a resort with a coast to coast glamping resort concept with a biomorphic architecture analogy design method. The choice of this concept is able to solve design problems that are disaster responsive and environmentally friendly and able to shape the behavior of visitors to participate in protecting the environment.

Abstract

Various regions in Indonesia have various types of creative economic activities, one of which is the City of Banjarbaru. Banjarbaru has a leading economic sector, namely the craft sub-sector, which consists of embroidery sasirangan and woven purun. However, the development of the craft sector in Banjarbaru has not been matched by adequate facilities. The Handicraft Center in Banjarbaru is a public open space facility that is used to develop and introduce the potential of crafts, especially in the embroidery sasirangan and woven purun to the wider community. The Handicraft Center is designed with the aim of accommodating selected craft activities and attracting the interest of the general public through an approach to the built natural environment that is friendly to the users of the space as well as to the environment. To optimize the environmentally friendly context, the biophilic method is applied with the concept of natural nuances that are adapted to the activities, conditions and needs that exist at the craft center.

Abstract

The cultural heritage of river life in Banjarmasin in the form of lanting houses is an important asset that can support the potential for the development of the city. One of the efforts to maintain and develop the existence of the lanting house can be done by tracing the lexicon and aspects of its vernacularism. From the historical and cultural studies of the origin of the lanting house, it was found that the culture of migrating (Lahei-Muara Teweh-Central Kalimantan) and trading culture (Hulu Sungai - South Kalimantan). To lead to a new development with new functions, the lexical "Rumah Lanting” and “Balanting” must be maintained. The word "lanting" and the process of "balanting" must be included such as gallery lanting, lanting guest house, or lanting homestay. Lexical "balanting" emphasis on lanting architecture which can only be docked and not settled. With the lexical "balanting" process, the architecture of the lanting house is floating and moves along the river. From analysis of 14 lanting houses located in the urban city, such as Kampung Seberang Masjid and on Bromo Island Kampung Mantuil, Banjarmasin City, it is found that the character of the lanting house which has spontaneous adaptive ability, multipurpose space expression, and flexibility of movement. The lanting house is able to move flexibly as well as the lexicon that is attached to it in the public perception towards artifact/notation of lanting. The influencing factor was the ethnolinguistic culture which influenced the journey of the Proto Banjar community-Dipa Daha people to the Banjar people during the Banjar Kingdom era. The result of the vernacularism synthesis confirms that the lanting house fulfills the rules as part of the vernacular architecture.

Abstract

Sakkok area in Singkawang is notorious for its traditional Chinese ceramics industry. These ceramics are produced through a wood-firing process in a closed kiln called Dragon Kiln. Dragon Kiln is the product between culture and technology, which was brought by the Southern Chinese immigrants. The only remaining Dragon Kilns, that are still being used and fired now, are in Singapore and Sakkok, Singkawang. Singkawang city is enlisted as Indonesia’s heritage city, therefore, the city is suggested to empower its heritages. This is supported by the people of Singkawang city, in which some of them are the crafters in the Dragon Kiln area. The highlighted architectural problem in this study is “How the architectural design of Dragon Kiln will maximize its Cultural Heritage potential in order to preserve the Dragon Kiln and Traditional Chinese Ceramics Industry?” The applied method for this study is Revitalization Thinking. Revitalization Thinking is a problem solving method based on revitalizing, done in stages, to maximize the design planning. The concept that is implied is an educative, recreational, and sustainable Cultural Heritage Tourism in order to maximize the Cultural Heritage potential of Dragon Kiln through the development of tourism in preserving the Dragon Kiln and Traditional Chinese Ceramics Industry in Singkawang, Indonesia and South-east Asia.
