Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in students' cognitive abilities through jigsaw learning. This research is a classroom action research using two cycles. The subjects in this study were students of SMA Negeri 4 Kota Serang class XI MIPA in the odd semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. The object of research is students' cognitive abilities. Data on students' cognitive abilities were collected using a cognitive ability test instrument on the concept of plant tissue structure. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results showed an increase in students' cognitive abilities before and after the action research. This action research is declared successful if it has achieved a cognitive average score at the minimum that is equivalent to the KKM value = 70. The results showed that the average value of students' cognitive abilities before the research action was 36.32, then increased to 48.23 after the first cycle, and increased again to 72.86 at the final session (cycle II). The conclusion of this study is that the application of the jigsaw learning model in learning is able to improve students' cognitive abilities on the concept of plant tissue structure. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan kognitif siswa melalui pembelajaran jigsaw. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA Negeri 4 Kota Serang kelas XI MIPA semester ganjil tahun pelajaran 2018/2019. Objek penelitian adalah kemampuan kognitif siswa. Data kemampuan kognitif siswa dikumpulkan menggunakan instrumen tes kemampuan kognitif pada konsep struktur jaringan tumbuhan. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan kognitif siswa sebelum dan sesudah penelitian tindakan.  Penelitian tindakan ini dinyatakan berhasil bila telah mencapai nilai rata-rata kognitif secara klasikal minimal setara dengan nilai KKM=70. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata kemampuan kognitif siswa sebelum tindakan penelitian sebesar 36,32, kemudian meningkat menjadi 48,23 setelah siklus I, dan meningkat lagi menjadi 72,86 pada sesi akhir (siklus II). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penerapan model pembelajaran jigsaw dalam pembelajaran mampu meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif siswa pada konsep struktur jaringan tumbuhan.

Abstract

This article discusses the integration of hadith and anthropology through the implementation of online lectures on anthropology courses at the Department of Hadith Studies at Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Syekh Nurjati. The formulation of the research problem in this article is the implementation of the integration of the hadith studies and anthropology as well as the implementation of online lectures on anthropology courses in the Department of Hadith Studies. The research objective is to look at the implementation of the integration of the two studies and discuss the implementation of online lectures in the anthropology course. The research design used quantitative methods. The results showed that the implementation of the integration of hadith and anthropology was demonstrated through the inclusion of anthropology courses in the curriculum of the Department of Hadith Studies. Seven benefits of integrating anthropology and hadith studies 1) Anthropology helps hadith scholars in understanding the sociocultural community; 2) help understand the hadith to be applied in society; 3) help analyze the hadith that is preserved in the community; 4) helping hadith scholars understand the life around them; 5) help hadith scholars examine socio-religious phenomena/symptoms; 6) help contextualize the hadith in line with the dynamics of community life; 7) help hadith scholars carry out the spread of religion in society. Hadith studies students prefer anthropology courses to be conducted offline. Barriers to online lectures such as absence of quotas and internet signal, decreased focus of lectures, low understanding of material, unfamiliar anthropological terms, difficulty finding references. Ease of online lectures such as easy access to the internet, selection of online learning media that are internet quota friendly, giving and explaining material by lecturers. Recorded 77.4% of the students did not like it. The majority of hadith science students were satisfied with the implementation of online lectures in anthropology courses during the Covid-19 pandemic. Abstract

This research aimed to develop a product and to find out its eligibility and students’s response of module based education for sustainable development (EfSD) on ecology concept for X grade students. Research and development (R&D) method with Dick & Carey model was used in this research. It consisted of 5 stages, that were Analysis, Planning, Development, Formative Evaluation, and Revision. Instrument validation was assessed by experts (concept, media and teachers). According to the result of expert assesment, the module earned score 94%. The score was included into very decent category. The score of students’s response was 84,4%. The score was included into very worth category. It can be concluded module based EfSD on ecology concept for X grade students was very decent for learning material.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the implementation of learning module of ecology based on local wisdom of society in Kasepuhan Cisungsang. This research and development study was conducted in small scale involving 30 students on SMAN 1 Petir, Serang, Banten. Simple random sampling was used for sampling methods. Instruments for data collections were using objective test, reflection journal, observation sheet and questionnaire. The effectivity of module was rated based on student learning completeness (grade > 65). The result showed 83% of students have completed in cognitive assessment, 87% of students have completed in psychomotor assessment. Questionnaire for student response showed the average value of 43% in very good category and 57% in good category. It can be concluded that the learning modules effective to facilitate student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The Rawa Danau Nature Reserve in Serang Banten is a highland swamp conservation area that is still left on the island of Java, but its existence is currently very threatened by human activities to fulfill its needs. Therefore, awareness of the importance of biodiversity through conservation education is needed. Conservation education requires materials or facilities that are close to people's lives, one example is bamboo plants. Bamboo is quite well known by the public, because it is used in everyday life. This study aims to find out the types of bamboo in Rawa Danau natural reserves which are then packaged as material for the development for Conservation Education. The research and development method is used to obtain the Conservation Education product. The result found 8 types of bamboo consisting of 5 genera, namely Dinochloa scandens, Gigantochloa apus, Gigantochloa atroviolacea, Gigantochloa pseudoarundinacea, Schizostachyum iraten, Bambusa vulgaris, Dendrocalamus asper, Gigantochloa atter. Furthermore, people’s knowledge about the types of bamboo are used as material for Conservation Education that can increase knowledge, attitudes, skills, awareness and participation of the community in preserving environmental sustainability

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of mini-research learning on the communication skills and problem solving abilities of high school students on the concept of ecosystems. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental method. The population of the study was 10th grade students high school of Pandeglang, Banten. Cluster random sampling was used in this research to fulfil each single treatment and control group. The instruments used in this research were report assessment sheets, test descriptions, and observation sheets. T-test was used to determine mean difference between the control group and the treatment group with α = 0.05. Based on the research results for communication skills, the control group got an average of 50.45 and treatment group got an average of 69.05 with a t-test significance level of 0.00 0.05 (α = 0.05), which means that there is an effect of mini-research learning on students' communication skills. Whereas for the aspect of students 'problem-solving abilities in the control group, it was obtained an average of 43.95 and treatment group was 63.97 with a t-test significance level of 0.00 0.05 (α = 0.05) which means that there is also an effect of mini-research learning on aspects of students' ability to solve problem. Thus it can be concluded that mini-research learning has an influence on students 'communication skills and students' problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 berdampak pada keterbatasan dan hambatan dalam pembelajaran biologi terutama kegiatan praktikum. Namun pandemi ini juga mempercepat transformasi pembelajaran ke era pembelajaran digital (digital learning), sehingga menuntut guru untuk mampu dan terbiasa memanfaatkan media video dalam pembelajaran praktikum. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan pembuatan video pembelajaran bagi guru-guru biologi di MAN 3 Cirebon agar guru-guru mampu dan terbiasa mengembangkan media pembelajaran video sendiri yang sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajaran dan karakteristik siswa. Pembuatan video pembelajaran praktikum dalam pelatihan dan pendampingan ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan aplikasi video yang mudah dan ringan yaitu Kinemaster. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini menghasilkan empat video pembelajaran praktikum yang dikembangkan oleh guru-guru peserta pelatihan dan pendampingan. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi diketahui bahwa guru-guru peserta merasakan manfaat dari kegiatan ini dan menjadi mampu dalam mengembangkan video pembelajaran praktikum menggunakan alat, bahan dan aplikasi yang ada, mudah digunakan dan murah.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the level profile of the Thinking about Thinking (Metacognition) category in the habits of mind of high school students in Biology learning. The research method used is descriptive research. The sample selection technique used stratified random sampling technique. The population in this study were all students of class XI and XII at SMAN A, SMAN B, SMAN C, and SMAN D Bandung, as many as 294 students. Data collection used an instrument in the form of a Habits of Mind's Costa and Kallick questionnaire. The results showed that the metacognition profile of class XI students was 67% (299) and class XII students was 69% (307), which means that Thinking about Thinking (Metacognition) of high school students is included in the low category. This shows that high school students in class XI and XII have not fully demonstrated good metacognitive abilities. The results of this study indicate that the metacognition category in habits of mind still needs to be introduced and accustomed to school students, especially in learning biology.

Abstract

Biology learning outcomes are related to several factors, namely cognitive anxiety and habits of mind. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between cognitive anxiety, habits of mind, and biology learning outcomes. The method of research applied  was correlational research with a stratified random sampling technique. The population of this study is all class XII students at four senior high schools in Bandung with a total sample of 145 students. The instruments used were questionnaires and Biology study results report documents. Habits of mind in this study refer to Costa and Kallick’s 16 categories of habits of mind as many as 50 questionnaire coverage. Students' cognitive anxiety was measured through a cognitive anxiety questionnaire which consists of 27 statement items based on Cassady and Johnson's Cognitive Anxiety Test. The learning outcomes were obtained from the scores of grade XII National Exam Practice. The instruments were tested for validity, reliability, and readability. It was found that there was a positive relationship between biology learning outcomes and cognitive anxiety (r = 0,045, α <0.025 ) as well as between habits of mind and biology learning outcomes (r= 0,326, α <0.025). No correlation was observed between habits of mind and cognitive anxiety. It can be summarized that habits of mind and cognitive anxiety have a positive relationship with biology learning outcomes. These findings indicate that biology learning outcomes are closely related to cognitive anxiety and habits of mind. Finally, we discuss the relationship of cognitive anxiety and the habits of mind to biology learning outcomes and provide suggestions for further work.

Abstract

Sensitivity to environmental concepts is closely related to naturalistic intelligence, as well as concern for finding solutions to environmental problems through problem-solving skills. This study aimed to determine the correlation between naturalistic intelligence and problem-solving ability through environmental photovoice project. Correlational research method was used in this study with purposive sampling technique. Population were 10th grade students of senior high school with specific science class as a sample. Naturalistic intelligence was measured by using naturalistic questionnaire. The problem-solving ability indicates in photovoice project and measured by using a photovoice assessment rubric developed based on problem-solving indicators. The results showed that the average of students’ naturalistic intelligence was 75.82 in score, it’s mean that students’ naturalistic intelligence belong to high criteria. The average of students’ problem-solving skills was 66.12 in score belong to high criteria as well.  The result of this research shows the value of correlational coefficient was 0.582. This means that there was strong positive relationship between naturalistic intelligence and the problem-solving skills through photovoice project on the environmental topic. These findings indicate that naturalistic intelligence are closely related to problem-solving skills. Finally, we discuss the relationship of naturalistic intelligence and problem-solving skills and provide suggestions for further work.
