Abstract

In order to strengthen the implementation of one of the pillars of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education—community service—Institut Agama Kristen Negeri (IAKN) Ambon facilitates the involvement of lecturers and students in a structured service program through the PKM Grant scheme. This program is organized by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) as an effort to disseminate research findings and scientific works to the community. Through a competitive selection process, selected lecturer- student teams carried out community service activities in designated partner areas, including collaborations with the Protestant Church of Maluku (GPM) in the Masohi and North Ambon Island Classis. The main focus of the activities is to strengthen the capacity of congregations through training based on curriculum and research outcomes, particularly in the development of Indonesian Church Music (Musik Gereja Nusantara). The program is integrated with core subjects such as Minor Compulsory Courses and Church Music Composition in the Master's Program of Church Music Studies. It also aims to create Sunday School songs for church caregivers. These activities are intended to expand the repertoire of church music and enhance the quality of worship through training in vocals, instruments, and music composition. The outcomes of this initiative demonstrate the tangible contribution of higher education in responding to community needs through the collaborative and contextual application of academic knowledge.

Abstract

This research aims to examine traditional te'o renda music from an ethnomusicological perspective. Using Ethnomusicology theories by Sri Hastanto that are relevant to those of Mantle Hood, the study explores changes and continuities in the presentation of te'o renda in Rote society. Conducted using qualitative methods, focusing on the discipline of ethnomusicology to understand the meaning and function of traditional music within cultural contexts, the research found that te'o renda and sasandu gong have undergone significant changes. In the past, sasandu and te'o renda played crucial roles in wedding ceremonies, particularly in traditional engagement rituals. However, their current usage has diminished, indicating a decline in their essence and sacredness. Other findings include the history, meanings, and functions of te'o renda for Rote communities past and present, as well as the construction of emic notations applied in te'o renda performances. This approach enables accurate and authentic documentation of traditional music, which is expected to contribute to the preservation and revitalization of Rote music culture. Thus, this research not only enhances theoretical understanding but also provides a foundation for efforts to conserve traditional music through emic notation methods.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze and describe the role of teachers in optimizing children's kinesthetic intelligence through the Aku Cinta Indonesia (ACI) gymnastics activity at TK Dharma Wanita Lilibooi Village. Kinesthetic intelligence refers to an individual's ability to use the body effectively to express ideas, emotions, and motor skills through coordination, balance, agility, and movement control. In early childhood education, the development of this intelligence is very important because it is closely related to children's physical, cognitive, and social development. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a field study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers, the school principal, and children’s activities during the gymnastics sessions. The findings indicate that teachers play a significant role as facilitators, motivators, role models, and evaluators in the implementation of ACI gymnastics. Teachers design simple movements, demonstrate them directly, use engaging music, and provide motivation and guidance to encourage children to move actively and confidently. Support from the school principal through the provision of facilities, training, and supervision also strengthens the success of the activity. Supporting factors include children’s enthusiasm, teacher creativity, and adequate school facilities, while inhibiting factors include differences in children’s motor abilities, shyness, and physical conditions. Therefore, the Aku Cinta Indonesia gymnastics activity is proven to be effective in stimulating the development of children’s kinesthetic intelligence in a fun and gradual manner.
